On some evenings, there will also be a short Dharma talk to provide some Buddhist context.
The meditation space is down at the canal. To get there, you can take the stairs down.
The meditation is offered on a donation basis.

Cycling along the Dutch Waterline!
Youâre invited to join us for a cycling trip from Utrecht to Amsterdam, following the historic [Dutch Waterline](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Waterline). As we cycle through green polders and along quiet waterways, youâll discover how the Dutch once used water as a powerful defense system, by flooding the land in order to stop enemies from invading Holland and taking all our cheese and bicycles :)
Weâll pass old forts and scenic Dutch landscapes, where history and nature are coming together. Come along and experience the beautiful nature and the story of this unique Dutch landscape. All you need is to bring a bicycle, good mood and hopefully some sunscreen!
The meeting point is at Utrecht Central Station and from here it is about 55 km cycling to Amsterdam, and we will have some lunch on the way.
Hope to see you then!
âď¸ Chat & Craft đ§ś
**We have limited space at the cafĂŠ, so if you've RSVPd and can't make it, please cancel as early as possible so another person can join!**
Join in for a morning of crafting & chatting over a drink. Just bring your own project and payment for drinks.
Meet fellow crafting enthusiasts, whether it's knitting, crocheting, stitching, origami, or something more unique!
We talk about our projects, exchange tipps, but also just get to know each other and enjoy a relaxed Sunday morning in good company.
We now also have a WhatsApp group, where we want to organise get-togethers and other events. Ask one of the organisers at the next Meetup you join for more information and access.
The story we tell ourselves: Self-Image vs Self-Esteem
Have you ever noticed how the way you see yourself can change depending on the situation?
One moment you feel confident and capable â the next you start doubting yourself after a small mistake or comparison.
How do you see yourself on LinkedIn or social media â is it that persona or the quiet inner picture you carry, about who you are?
Sometimes that picture feels strong and confident.
Other times it becomes surprisingly fragile after criticism, comparison, or a simple mistake.
In this meetup weâll explore two closely related ideas that shape how we experience life:
**Self-image** â the picture we hold of who we are
**Self-esteem** â how we feel about that picture
Through conversation and simple reflection exercises, weâll look at questions like:
* Where does our self-image actually come from?
* Why can our confidence rise and fall so quickly?
* What role do comparison, expectations, and inner criticism play?
* And how can we build a healthier relationship with ourselves?
Expect an open and thoughtful discussion â not a lecture.
Youâre welcome to share your thoughts and experiences, but thereâs never any pressure. Listening is just as valuable.
If you're curious about how our inner narratives shape our lives, come join the conversation.
**Who is this for?**
Anyone interested in personal growth, psychology, and understanding how our inner narratives influence our lives.
**What to expect**
* Guided discussion prompts
* Reflection exercises
* Practical insights you can apply in everyday life
**Tone**
Supportive, curious, and judgment-free.
**Disclaimer**
This is not therapy â It's a thoughtful conversation about being human.

Womenâs Spring Picnic in MĂĄxima Park (Utrecht) â Connect & Meet
### Let's Feast on Joy and Connection Under the Trees! đż
Dear sisters, are you craving connection that goes beyond the superficial? Do you long for a space where you can truly soften, open, and awaken your authentic self?
Our beloved SOMA monthly circle is moving outdoors for a special gathering, and we are calling all women ready to nourish their souls as much as their bodies!
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel isolated, even amidst crowds. The SOMA community was born from a deep understanding that we thrive when we are seen, witnessed, and held in a supportive circle. This picnic is an invitation to step into that sacred space, where judgment dissolves, and genuine connection flourishes.
### What to Expect:
This isn't just a picnic; it's an opportunity to experience the ancient feminine wisdom of gathering in circle, a practice that helps us maintain continuity and a sense of belonging without the pressure to perform.
Here, your emotions are your anchor, and your presence is your power.
We will engage in:
â˘Grounding Rituals: Simple practices to bring us fully into our bodies and the present moment.
â˘Meaningful Conversation: Heart-led sharing where every voice is valued, and every story is witnessed.
â˘The Medicine of Nature: Allowing the serene embrace of Maxima Park to soothe our spirits and deepen our connection to ourselves and each other.
Come for the sisterhood, stay for the laughter, and leave feeling regulated, radiant, and deeply held. It's a space where we collectively create a coherent field, stepping into something truly transformative through body-led healing and authentic presence.
### Practical Details:
â˘Bring: Your favorite snack to share with the circle, a blanket or cushion for comfort, and most importantly, an open heart.
â˘Location: Maxima Park, Utrecht (Specific meeting point details will be shared with RSVPs).
â˘Date: Sunday, 12th April 2026
â˘Time: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
### Join Our Sisterhood:

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
April Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our April read is **_Martyr!_ by Kaveh Akbar.**
The story follows a young Iranian American poet grappling with grief, addiction, and the aching question of what makes a life meaningful. Drawn into an unexpected friendship with a terminally ill artist, he begins to confront faith, love, and the seduction of self-destruction. Lyrical, darkly funny, and emotionally piercing, the novel wrestles with beauty and despair in equal measure. Itâs a story about longingâto be seen, to be forgiven, and to matter.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! đ
Drunken
This month's prompt concerns the idea of the âwarrior philosopherâ (seemed appropriate in these times)--that is someone whose understanding of violence, power, and justice is forged through direct experience of war. We are looking at Major General Smedley D. Butler, a highly decorated U.S. Marine raised in a Quaker (pacifist) tradition who later became a prominent critic of American militarism (there is a wonderful biography of Gen. Butler called "Gangsters of Capitalism")
Butler's argument in *War Is a Racket* (1935): that many U.S. interventions were driven less by national defense than by corporate and financial interests, with Butler portraying himself as an enforcer for business and Wall Street. We can consider the moral ambiguity of his insider critiqueâwhether complicity strengthens or undermines credibility and also consider some of the concrete reforms he proposed (e.g., âconscriptâ capital before soldiers, restrict the military to coastal defense, and have only those who fight decide on war).
Butlerâs life arc clearly changed from pacifist upbringing to warrior to antiwar crusaderâand asks whether true understanding of peace requires firsthand knowledge of war, and what that implies about the cost of suffering. So do we need to suffer to understand suffering? Do we have to experience war to appreciate peace? As one more question: in the movie "A Few Good Men" Jack Nicholson's character says that "you have the luxury of not knowing what I know" so do most of us go through life oblivious to real violence and suffering? See you at Drunken Philosophy!
Libera Animae - Freeing the Soul
Main Library, Meeting Room 3B
Join us for a welcoming evening of reflection, gentle music, and meaningful conversation. Weâll begin with a short grounding moment, followed by a brief reading from spiritual or philosophical traditions, and an open reflection circle where participants can share (or simply listen).
Libera Animae is an interfaith community focused on inner growth, creativity, and authentic connection.
All backgrounds are welcome.
Shut Up & Write!⢠Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One CafĂŠ, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
⢠What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (Iâll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
⢠What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The CafĂŠ on Saturday!
Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineâs?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.
Whether youâre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
