Az első könyvklub alkalom Ann Leckie 2013-ban megjelent könyvét, a Mellékes igazságot veszi górcső alá. Az amerikai írónő első könyve volt, ami azonnal sok díjat elnyert neki. Többek között akad benne elnyomó birodalom, megoszló tudatok, és nem kevés (nem mindig emberi) esendőség. A triológia mindhárom kötete megjelent magyarul. Ugyan a mi nyelvünkben nem tűnik fel, de angolul az író végig "she"-ként hivatkozik szereplőire. Emiatt persze egyből sokan el is könyvelték szélsőségesen feminista könyvnek. De nem kell megijedni, ez egy nagyon jó scifi, különleges szereplőkkel, ami közel sem azért lett sztár, mert megpróbálta a gender utáni jövőt elképzelni.
