Riverdale Park - Outdoor Sports and Chill
Hello hello,
Last week the weather had other plans. This week, I am trying.
Weather permitting, I'll update if the forecast turns on us again. Here's hoping it doesn't.
We're claiming a patch of park like it's ours (it's not) for an afternoon of games, sports, and the kind of low-stakes chaos that happens when you put people in sunlight. Frisbee, volleyball, ball sports, some other games here and there.
Meetup Spot: Riverdale park East. https://maps.app.goo.gl/MvZvbJy7C9KNGKP88
(I may update the location depending upon free patch of land for us)
**Bring:** Any outdoor games / Sports you would like to play, water (Or beerđş), snacks, and a blanket to relax after the cardio.
I'll bring a frisbee and volleyball.

Connection Labs Online (aka Crossroads & Connections)
### Each Crossroads & Connections workshop is a fast, friendly mash-up: short demos, paired practices and intentional reflection. We keep it light, embodied, and socialâso wisdom lands in your muscles and your circle, not only your mind. There isnât one technique that fixes everything, for everyone, in every situation.
### What is it?
We pair complementary domains to spark shared flow, fresh insight, and unforgettable âaha!â moments. You leave with lived skills, not just notes.
* **Dialogue** gets you out of solo spin: small-group formats expose blind spots and sharpen âshared reality,â so your next move matches *this* person and *this* moment.
* **Imaginal** practice is guided âas ifâ rehearsal you look *through*, not *at*: walking the beats before the scene means your body recognizes turns when stakes rise.
* **Mindfulness** steadies the camera: attention stops jerking around, drama gets de-amplified, and you can catch the instant youâre narrating motives and swap in one honest question.
* **Embodiment** makes it actionable through direct, non-verbal experience and how your inner experience matches your outer expression.

Guildwood and Scarborough Bluffs East (8.8 km)
A well-trodden trail with food gems at the end. Guildwood was a former artists' colony and has an idyllic setting close to the Scarborough bluffs. It's a weird mish-mash of attractions and we'll check out every one of them.
Then it's down to the lake shore, a popular hiking trail. The eastern approach to the cliffs goes past an iconic sculpture before swinging up an invigorating hill.
Guildwood does not have good food. The handful of good restaurants in this hike are at the end, in Scarborough Village. There's an excellent Egyptian restaurant with an ambitious menu, a Haitian supermarket, and a unique dining experience in a retirement residence.
A trio of South Asian restaurants await at the end, where you can choose between Sri Lankan, Kerala, and Tamil food. Or try them all.
**Highlights**
1. Clark Centre for the Arts (depart 4pm)
2. Guild Inn
3. Greek theatre and scattered statuary
4. South Marine Park
5. Scarborough Bluffs
6. Passage sculpture (depart 5:15pm)
7. Doris McCarthy Trail / Gates Gully
8. Haitians Food Market
9. Aragoz
10. Momiji / Maru Sun Japanese Restaurant
11. Scarborough Village Theatre (depart 6:10pm)
12. Cornell Campbell House
13. Premium Sweets
14. King of Taste / Tharavadu Home Of Kerala Cuisine / Namma Madurai (arrive 6:40pm)

Kick-off Riverdale Park 5K Run / Walk / Jog
I think we're ready to start this group's running season! 5K every week till the snows come down! Or try to! This seems like a good Sunday to start as the temperature and sunlight should all be moderate. Also, plenty of time to prepare with stretch and strength if you haven't run since last year!
BTW, I've learned there is a lot of benefit to starting with slow jogging - rather than walking. Please look that up, if you are slow - like me - and want to improve your endurance, consistency, aerobic and anaerobic capacity.
We'll meet by the track. I'll be there early to warm up. We will start the 5K exactly at 9:30am. As mentioned in the About Us,
* Using the park track we can all go at our own pace and never really be left behind unless we all finish way ahead of you. :D I think an hour is enough time to dedicate to the run. I'm pretty slow, so you will likely have me around for most of the hour.
* Members are free to leave the run whenever they want.
* Bring your kids, your pets, your partners, etc.
* All encouraged to stick around afterwards and enjoy the park or neighbourhood on your own.
* Let's get stronger, healthier and foster a great community at the same time.
* As part of our kick-off, I am open to heading off to get some brunch on the Danforth afterwards, if anybody is interested! Lots of great options there!
We also welcome runners who are not in our neighbourhood and want to join us spiritually and run from their own neighbourhoods. :-) Imagine how much healthier and communal the world would be if we all stopped for an hour once in a while to run together; re-centring and re-charging together?

Calm Beltline Trail Walk: Caledonia LRT Station to Davisville Station
**Calm Beltline Trail Walk: Caledonia Station to Davisville Station**
Join us for a relaxed, no-pressure walk along Torontoâs Beltline Trail, from **Caledonia Station to Davisville Station**.
This route follows part of the old **Toronto Belt Line Railway**, a former rail corridor that once looped around midtown Toronto. Today, much of that railway space has been turned into a peaceful linear trail, connecting neighbourhoods through tree-lined paths, quiet residential areas, bridges, and green spaces. The Kay Gardner section of the Beltline is especially meaningful because local advocates helped protect the old rail corridor from private development and turn it into a public trail and park.
Weâll start near **Caledonia Station** and walk east along the York Beltline and Kay Gardner Beltline Trail toward **Davisville Station**. The route is mostly flat and follows a calm, easy-to-navigate path. Itâs a nice mix of city and nature: trees, open trail sections, quiet crossings, and little reminders of the railway history along the way.
As always, this is a low-pressure walk. Youâre welcome to chat, walk quietly, or move between the two. There are no icebreakers, no networking, and no expectation to socialize in any particular way. Just showing up and being present is enough.
**Date:** Sunday, May 31, 2026
**Time:** 2:30 PM â 4:30 PM
**Meeting point:** Caledonia Station Main Entrance ([The Eglinton Ave West Exit](https://maps.app.goo.gl/NYVTYdDcK7sxHDiC6))
**End point:** Davisville Station
**Route:** Caledonia LRT Station to Davisville Station via the Beltline Trail ([https://maps.app.goo.gl/z41TLM6DjPvMVcTP7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/z41TLM6DjPvMVcTP7))
**Distance:** About 7.5 km
**Pace:** Comfortable walking pace, with short pauses as needed
Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start walking at **2:30 PM**.
### What to wear
Wear comfortable shoes suitable for a longer city trail walk. The route is mostly flat, but weâll still be walking for around an hour and a half, so comfort matters more than style.
Weâll finish near **Davisville Station**, so it will be easy to head home by TTC afterward.
Looking forward to a calm Sunday walk together.

The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
