Meditation for Peace
Conflict, violence and hatred that we can see in the world today can cause us to respond in two ways. We can end up feeling overwhelmed and helpless by the suffering and inhumanity or we can react with rage. Buddhism teaches that neither of these are helpful and that hatred can only be conquered by love and awareness.
The Buddha taught that the first thing we have to do to create a world that operates on the basis of wisdom and compassion is to transform our own minds.
On this day we will be meditating together for world peace at the Dublin Portal at the same time that Buddhists in Ipswich will be meditating in front of the portal in their city.
Starting at 2pm and then at half-hourly intervals until 4pm, we will cultivate kindness, compassion, and connection through a series of guided *Metta Bhavana* (loving-kindness) meditations, interspersed with periods of chanting.
Participation is open to all and free of charge.

Yoga and Meditation Day Retreat (21st June)
Yoga is a form of physical exercise that will have positive effects on your body and mind. It is a highly effective tool to help calm the body and mind, as well as alleviate stress, leaving you more relaxed, energised and calm.
Yoga gives energy, which enables us to lead life fully and with enjoyment, and works on lots of different levels of our being.
Buddhist meditation techniques offer a way of encouraging and developing positive states of mind, such as calmness, clarity, emotional positivity and a deeper seeing of the true nature of things.
The day will be an opportunity to reconnect with your meditation or yoga practice if it has slipped, or serve as a great way to try out these practices if you haven’t done them before.
Sunday 21st JUne 2026, 10am – 5pm

Coffee + St Stephen's Green
The idea is simple: grab a coffee, meet us in the centre of St Stephen's Green by the fountain, stroll around, chat, and get to know each other. Voilà!
I do plan on more energetic stuff going forward, but a big part of my ambition for this group is social — so these kinds of events make sense too.
**A bit about me:** I'm Noirin, I'm a data scientist and I run a couple of meetups. I'm sort of an extraverted introvert. I really love philosophy, reading, meeting new people and good chats.
Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood
through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen.
Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have.
We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too.
Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best.
We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you.
Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop).
You are very welcome to our dojo!
Sunday Morning Puja
This Sunday morning session comprises a short sit and a Puja (Buddhist devotional ritual).
No need to book, just turn up a few minutes beforehand. On a donation basis.
If you’re coming online, join [via Zoom](https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86127244172?pwd=MjJobkgybVFncjlmczROSmZ3MExEUT09) (password if required is *sundaypuja*) a few minutes before 11am.
International Yoga Day in the Open Air
Celebrating International Yoga Day in the open air, feeling the sea breeze (and hopefully the sun) as we flow together on the mat
Everyone is welcome, from absolute beginners to more experienced practitioners. Come solo or bring a friend, we’ll be grabbing a coffee nearby after class too if you would like to join.
Classes take place rain or shine, so come dressed in layers and bring your own mat. All you need is yourself and a willingness to move and breathe in the fresh air.
Please bring your own mat

Free In-Person Events: How to Let Go of the Past and Move Forward
The emotional pain from past bad experiences easily lingers in the present, making it hard to enjoy life and create your future. Even when you think you've moved on, the negative emotions can be triggered, sending you back into the pain of that experience.
And we are talking about pain; emotions such as grief, depression, anxiety, fear (or terror), boiling anger, simmering resentment, feelings of shame, blaming and regret can leave you incapacitated to a greater or lesser degree.
In this local event we will be discussing the reasons why these past bad experiences have the power to affect you long after they occurred. We'll go over why the emotional pain can be so strong. We'll also discuss some simple solutions to overcome your emotional pain and be free to fully enjoy your life again.
Examples of painful experiences include:
* A broken relationship or divorce.
* Death or loss of a loved one.
* Death of a pet.
* A sudden shock or bad news.
* A betrayal.
* Being part of an abusive relationship.
* A bad injustice.
* Loss of a job, position or business.
* A grave illness or injury.
The negative emotions from these experiences don't just go away on their own. But the good news is there is a way to clear them out of your way.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is sponsored the Dianetics & Scientology Self-Improvement Center.
