Welcome to **I WRITE**, a gentle space for anyone who wants to write—quietly, freely, and without judgement. We are a Berlin community of writers who gather together weekly to write, talk and recharge after a long week. Some of us journal, some write novels, some do academic writing, many people come without a project in mind and see where the inspiration flow takes them. This is a space to simply show up and write, a safe place to be yourself and to release all your layers onto the paper. There’s no set topic, no feedback circle, and no pressure. We truly believe that everyone can become confident and funny on stage. Over 8 weekly classes, we explore the principles of comedic improvisation primarily through short-form games. Whether you’re just starting out or deep into your screenplay, this is the perfect space to create, collaborate, and refine your work. We’re trying a new format for this session. The theme will be “Loneliness in a Connected World.” The session is structured in two parts. During the first hour, we’ll collectively explore the topic and gather as many perspectives, experiences, observations, and ideas as possible. In the second hour, we’ll use this material to shape a story framework, focusing on a basic three-act structure and clarifying the core elements of a potential narrative. What I ask from you is simple: before coming, take some time to reflect on the theme. What is your personal relationship to loneliness in a highly connected, digital world? How does it feel? What experiences—your own or those of people you know—come to mind? You don’t need to write anything down in advance. The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills.
