Scenic Forest Hike to VisegrĂĄd Along a Mountain Stream
Scenic Forest Hike to VisegrĂĄd Along a Mountain Stream
Join us for a full-day hike through one of the most atmospheric routes to VisegrĂĄd — a peaceful forest trail following a mountain stream. This hike is especially beautiful in autumn and winter, with misty woods, flowing water, and quiet paths far from the crowds. We start with a bus ride to **DobogĂłkƑ**, then hike mostly downhill through forests and valleys. The route includes a ravine crossing, a gradual ascent, and a small village about halfway through. After the village, the trail runs right along the stream. We will cross it several times by stepping on stones — a fun and memorable part of the hike. Towards the end, we reach a small waterfall, a calm lake, and an open meadow — perfect spots to rest, enjoy the scenery, and take photos. **Distance:** 17.8 km **Elevation:** +210 m / −795 m **Difficulty:** Moderate (good basic fitness required) *** ### Practical Information **Meeting point:** 08:20 at **BatthyĂĄny tĂ©r**, in the underground passage near the ticket offices, opposite the metro exit. **Return:** Around 17:00 by bus, or by ferry + train, depending on the group’s pace. **Tickets:** You will need: * a city public transport ticket * a suburban ticket to **PomĂĄz** All additional tickets will be purchased during the trip and paid in cash. Please avoid large banknotes, as drivers may not have change. If you have a **Pest County (county-wide) pass**, you will only need to pay for the ferry. *** ### What to Bring * At least 1 liter of water * A filling packed lunch * A thermos with hot tea (strongly recommended) * Comfortable hiking shoes and clothes suitable for mud * Windproof / waterproof jacket * Warm layers (it is colder in the mountains) * Cash for tickets *** 🌿 **Why join this hike?** A calm, scenic route with water, forest, and gentle adventure — ideal for nature lovers, mindful hiking, and meaningful conversations. A perfect way to disconnect from the city and spend a full day immersed in nature.
