Sunday rehearsal with Castellers of London. Meet us at the OBC Community Centre to help build human towers! This get together is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends, socialise and have a go and explore your abilities as a human tower builder a.k.a Casteller! For newcomers we have a team of trained Castellers who will introduce you to the group, guide you through the activity and help you safely take part in this unique Catalan tradition. When you arrive just approach us as we are really friendly! If in doubt ask for Cuss! Please let us know if you are bringing guests. After the rehearsal we go to a nearby pub for social drinks where everyone is welcome :) What do you need? 1. Ideally a cotton shirt: to protect your neck and shoulders, the more durable the shirt/top the better. We do not recommend any thin items of clothing! 2. Jeans: allowing you to move freely without breaking. 3. Mask: We still require the use of a mask as you will be very close to your fellow Castellers - basically you will be hugging people! The rest of the equipment is on us! We take health and safety very seriously, both in relation to COVID-19 and also the activity- please be assured that the safety of all participants is of the utmost importance to us and we take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk, ensuring we all have a great time! Our regular members won't be filling in the Meet Up to say they are going 🙂 So don't be put off if you see only a handful have said they are going. A minimum of 25 on the day is normal. A 3.5 mile walk through Central London Parks with daffodils in bloom.. **WALK START POINT: Lancaster Gate Station** (Central Line - Zone 1) WALK DISTANCE: Approx 3.5 miles. WALK END POINT: Lancaster Gate Station followed by a visit to a local Wetherspoons pub in Paddington . **Scroll down to see Disclaimer and Notice of Risks.** ENJOY UNIQUE HEALTHY WALKS IN STUNNING GREEN SPACES OR ALONG WATERWAYS IN LONDON. RISKS for all walks: Please dress appropriately for weather conditions and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication. You need to be moderately fit for this walk and be able to walk for four miles without a break. In these walks we use; pavements, cross busy roads, public parkland, towpaths alongside water, other public paths, rights of way, bridlepaths, country lanes and other established paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Please only wear good sturdy shoes, preferably walking boots and take care as surfaces may be uneven, tree roots may protrude, there may be low overhanging branches and some paths are also used by joggers and cyclists and sometimes cars (country lanes). Some tracks may be muddy and slippery. On occasion wild,domestic and farm animals may also encountered. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself. No large dogs or small children please. Please arrive in good time to allow opportunity to use toilets at the start of the walk as there may not be any toilet breaks available during the walk. 🌙 Another opportunity to walk to Regent's Park Mosque and participate in their free Iftar, pray Maghrib and then walk to the Ramadan Lights which is in it's 5th year in London 🏮 **Important:** We need to arrive 30-40 minutes before Maghrib prayer to collect our iftar parcels, after breaking fast, we pray Maghrib, then exactly 25 minutes after Maghrib Fard prayer ends, we meet outside for the walk to the Ramadan lights. This short home electrics workshop covers the most common requests that homeowners, landlords and tenants want to know more about in their homes. **Join us for lunch at Mercato Metropolitano Canary Wharf!** Located in Canary Wharf’s new riverside neighbourhood, MM Wood Wharf has been a vibrant artisanal food market since May 2022, known for its bold global flavours and lively atmosphere. These venues normally work well for our group - everybody can choose from a wide selection of food and drink of different cuisines. Options include Italian Burgers and Sausages, Chinese Street Food and Basque Cheese Cake. We have reserved 2 private igloos, with each able to sit 10 people. The igloos are warm even if the weather is not the best on the day. The igloors are at the back of the venue - facing towards the dock. Mercato Metropolitano is a short walk from Canary Wharf underground and DLR stations. If you arrive via the Jubilee line, you should leave the underground station via the **west** exit (Upper Bank Street and Montgomery Square). Cross Montgomery Square and walk straight over the bridge into Wood Wharf. It is slightly further from the DLR, but still only around 10 minutes walk. You can walk via the shoping centre, or head in a westerly direction along the road, towards the State Street building. There are signs pointing to Wood Wharf. The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
