Shut Up & Write!® in Angel, Islington, London
Shut Up & Write!® in Angel, Islington, London
**HIYA** We’re a supportive community, and I’m here to organise this Meetup space. I’m enjoying seeing it growing and becoming a regular place for people to get-together. I also invite likemindeded people with shared interests from society. I hope this develops into a fully fledged, shared, literacy lounging experience - regardless of wether I’m here or not! **INTRODUCTION** Join us for some focused coworking writing or reading time. All experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing and reading done and meeting other literacy enthusiasts in the area. **EARLY ARRIVALS** around 6:45pm When you show up, find the Literacy Lounge area to the far right and settle in. Take some time to chat with your fellow writers before the start of the session if you like. **START OF SESSION** around 7pm I’ll set timers for our no-talking and focused writing sessions (write, break, write, end). **END OF SESSION** around 8:30pm Afterward, there’s time to hang out, and many people stay for over an hour. Perhaps to chat and get to know each other. Everyone tends to talk about their successes and challenges as writers/readers or similar interesting topics. If we don’t have time to stick around, no worries! We’re here every week anyway!! **FORMAT** A note about the format: We don’t host critiques or readings. These events are a safe space for writers andd readers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft. **VENUE** This is a hybrid venue, with a restaurant, lounge, and outdoors seating. The seating has been strategically placed for inclusive social gatherings and for welcoming guests (please keep them positioned). It has an extensive menu of breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, deserts, hot and cold beverages and alcohol - for you to purchase and enjoy during your stay. A waiter/waitress will come over to take our orders. **LOCATION & TRAVEL** Megan's is located within a commercial and residencial complex, with four portals to arrive and leave - two are located on Upper Street opposite St Mary's Church Yard, the other two are around the sides. This venue is just a few minuets walk from the nearest bus stop, and about 10 minutes walk from the main tube and train stations, which is located in between Angel, Highbury and Islington. **PARKING YOUR CAR** You can pay to park your car upto 6:30pm, although it’s free parking afterwards Monday-Friday: located on adjacent roads (make sure you read the signs for parking guidelines). **INTERNET USAGE** For the WiFi name/password: a Megan’s sign-in link will appear on your computer’s browser. **ABOUT ME** I create from lived experience—woven with threads of self-care, healing, and the quiet power of connection through talk, touch, and silence. I’m here to hold space and greet each soul who enters, though I may not be able to linger with everyone. Still, know you’re warmly welcomed. See you soon! London Society NEW YEAR’S EVE GET TOGETHER - The Sun Wharf
Have you ever wanted to gather together somewhere warm and cosy amongst some food and drinks and good company and make the most out of the evening for the new year before truly embracing the new year with your loved ones? If so, this may be the right one for you.
Welcome back to another festive get together where you have the opportunity to socialise amongst one another, purchase some food and drink (alcoholic and non alcoholic), form friendships and also not feel alone. New Year’s Eve is also one of the festivals/occasions that unites people but at the same time, there are those who feel lonely out there and are not as lucky as we are. At least here, you’re not alone and hopefully, we can make this a memorable evening before the new year approaches. Here is the simple itinerary: 6:30pm: Head inside, find our space and socialise as well as have any beverages they offer. After 6:50pm: Any late comers can come inside and join us. 11:45pm if possible: Head to London Bridge and see the fireworks. You don’t have to but if you enjoyed the event and if you want, I’m more than happy to accept optional donations. Even if you donate £1, it helps not only myself but you guys too by unlocking pathways for even more potential events and resources: https://www.paypal.me/calvinjoy

FULL - New Year's Eve Party | London 20s and 30s
FULL - New Year's Eve Party | London 20s and 30s
**The end of the year is now approaching and we thought what better way to see in 2026, than with our latest New Year's Eve Party, exclusively for 20s and 30s.** Yep that's right, we’ve once again gone big and booked out a WHOLE pub to ourselves, so you can celebrate NYE in style. The Craft Beer Co. St. Mary Axe is right in the heart of the city of London, with some great cask and keg beer on tap, and on NYE - we will be filling it with lots of 20s and 30s for this special occasion. As we count down to midnight together, there’ll be a few light-hearted ways to connect throughout the evening as you celebrate. There'll be board games to break the ice, deep question cards to help you move beyond the small talk, and even a **hosted quiz** for a bit of fun and friendly competition. And then after midnight, there will also be the option of heading to one of our favourite pubs, The Star By Liverpool Street's **NYE Karaoke Party**, where we've secured free entry, so you can sing your heart out and dance the night away. And so whether you are new to our 20s and 30s events or a seasoned veteran, you are very welcome to join us for what will be a special night. **\- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \-** **ATTENDANCE FEE** Since we are now reaching capacity and we have limited space at the venue, we will be charging a very small £3.50 attendance fee. This is to ensure we don't have a large waitlist and to ensure only the most keen to attend are able to do so. The money of which will go towards the activities and prizes on the night. **\- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \- \-** **WHERE/WHEN** The Venue: The Craft Beer Co. Cinema: Marty Supreme (2025)
Cinema: Marty Supreme (2025)
Let's try a central venue: The Garden Cinema is between Covent Garden and Holbon. I want to see this film because of the time period and setting - it sounds like they did a great job. Timothée Chalamet's performance in particular is getting a lot of praise. Plot: "There is towering suspense amongst the organised chaos, and the plot pushes aggressively forward, demanding full attention for the hefty runtime. But Marty Supreme also revels in its sense of place - a vivid depiction of 1950s New York Jewish community is captured in exquisite detail, and is populated with big, idiosyncratic characters, all of whom feel lived in. The anachronistic use of 80s music blends in seamlessly, never feeling pretentious or like a stylistic gimmick." \>\> Please book your own ticket: https://bookings.thegardencinema.co.uk/TheGardenCinema.dll/TSelectItems.waSelectItemsPrompt.TcsWebMenuItem_0.TcsWebTab_0.TcsPerformance_4598471.TcsSection_638 "Marty Supreme isn’t actually a ‘ping-pong movie’. Josh Safdie’s acclaimed new film is really about ambition, sex, money, fame, greed, risk, destiny, desire" "Marty Mauser, an aspiring table tennis champion who navigates a chaotic journey filled with scams and ambition in pursuit of greatness. The film explores his struggles and relationships" "Nobody was expecting the Marty Supreme world premiere at October’s New York Film Festival, but the response from critics in attendance is glowing." Let's meet in the bar downstairs for a drink before the film starts at 8pm. The attendance fee is £4, hope you can join me. Please note there is an **attendance contribution** which goes towards the yearly Meetup platform fee, and our organisers voluntary time, both necessary to keep this club alive and running! This fee will be split 50/50 between the host, Giselle, and the group organiser Dul, thank you. \*\*🔷**Blue Diamond Membership:** If you like this event, we encourage you to join our 🔷*Blue Diamond Membership*, for a symbolic £10/year towards making the club sustainable in the long run. This will give you some extra benefits beyond helping to keep the Club running, **including but not limited to waiving all Meetup / organisational fees set up per single event** until next Meetup's Fee renewal (September 2026). You can send us your Blue Diamond Member contribution via Revolut: [revolut.me/dulom](http://revolut.me/dulom) Or bank transfer to: Dulcinea Ortiz. 04-00-75 acct 07592035 Please include your Meetup name as reference. \-\-\- ⚠️No Show Policy : London European Club is run by dedicated volunteers, whose time is important and whose efforts towards keeping the Club active must be respected. Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 7:00pm the second & fourth Wednesday of every month at Two Dollar Radio Headquarters (HQ). Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. **SCHEDULE:** 6:45ish - Quick introductions 7:00 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour 8:00 - The End **OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING** happens around 6:45pm. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. **BEING LATE IS OKAY:** just show up and get settled! If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing & I look forward to seeing you at Two Dollar Radio HQ! **WHAT SHOULD I BRING?** Whatever you need to be able to write! Other customers are welcome at Two Dollar HQ at the time, so please bring earplugs/headphones if noise will bother you! **OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:** * **RSVP:** Please RSVP by 6:00pm the evening of the meeting. This helps me know how many to expect, and if we'll need additional space! * **COVID:** While masks are not required, please be mindful of the other writers around you and their comfort levels. * **ACCESSIBILITY:** Two Dollar Radio HQ's entrance door on Cline Street is wheelchair accessible, they have two gender-neutral bathrooms that are both wheelchair accessible, and their ordering and table-seating area is as well. Working service dogs are allowed. * **WIFI/OUTLETS:** Outlets are limited, so please ensure your devices are charged when you come! But Two Dollar Radio HQ does have free WiFi! Yay! * **PARKING:** There is free public street parking on all surrounding streets, on both sides of Parsons Ave. You are also welcome to park in the Columbus Metropolitan Library parking lot across the street (1113 Parsons Ave).
