What started as a small experiment in Switzerland has grown into a new language exchange system: Our web app automatically matches you into small groups with fluent speakers, meaning you get the best chance to practice speaking your target language. We’re thrilled to bring this new concept to Dublin and would love your feedback — join us, speak more, and help us reinvent language exchange events!

**Overview**
===
He's back! For our February event, we are thrilled to welcome a special guest out of semi-retirement: John Ryan.
As a former Snowflake employee and current Data Superhero, John has been there since the beginning. In fact, he and I co-hosted Ireland’s first-ever Snowflake event. Since the venue was a converted church, we called it the **"Church of Data."** It was the perfect setting to kick off our Snowflake evangelism.
**Abstract**
===
Moving from on-premises data platforms to cloud isn’t just a technology change — it’s a cost and operating model shift. Many teams underestimate this and end up with performance issues, spiralling spend, or both.
This session explains why traditional on-prem thinking breaks down in Snowflake, how Snowflake is designed to scale, and where customers commonly go wrong.
Using real lessons from three large Snowflake customers, we’ll walk through:
What “scale up” really means in Snowflake (and when not to use it)
Three common mistakes that quietly drive cost and poor performance
What actually worked in production — not theory, not marketing slides
This is a practical, experience-based session aimed at engineers, architects, and technical leaders who want Snowflake to run faster without wasting money.
**NEXT OPEN MIC - Wednesday 25th February

Join us for our next exciting event , featuring original singer-songwriters and spoken word. This weeks special guest is the brilliant Harry Kearns who will be launching his album in the coming days.

We want to ensure that as many people as possible get to play on the night, so we ask that you do *two* things:

2. **Get to the venue as early as possible to confirm your attendance**
3. Please note we do our best to accommodate everyone.
4. We would be grateful if you only sign up if you fully intend to go as we have had a number lot of no shows in recent weeks which dampen the night for others .

Warning: this cycle has a steep/long climb.
Please have back and front lights on your bike for this cycle.
The total distance is 30km, but it has 450m of climbing taken on all at once. We do not go fast up the climb, we go as slow as needed.
Here is our plan for the evening:
1️⃣We leave at 5:30PM from The Yellow House in Rathfarnum. Note that we meet acroos the road from The Yellow House by the church.
2️⃣We cycle South to where we'll climb up to Glencullen via R116. Note that due to subsided road, we have to make a detour up military road.
3️⃣If time allows, we'll make a stop at the blue light pub for a break
4️⃣After break, we'll head back to city centre.
This is a short evening route with a fair bit of climbing with some great views throughout the ride.

Come join me in cleaning up litter in Kilbogget Park in South Dublin.
I will supply a cart, bags/buckets, litter grabbers, and occasionally a dog (for morale). Feel free to bring your own equipment if you have it.
Here's the plan:
1. Meet near the Kilbogget Grove Bus Stop, 3131 at 10:00. I'll be standing in the area with a cart and dog, so should be easy to spot.
2. Collect litter along the path illustrated in the link below in the description. Note we will be going into the trees along the way.
3. Circle back to the starting point when finished.
Note that we will walk in wet grass/mud on occasion and will be handling litter, so best to wear appropriate clothes, footwear and gloves. Please check weather before attending to ensure you're dressed for it.
Feel free to drop in or out at whatever time suits you. I'm typically out for an hour or two or until the area I'm focused on has been cleaned. There is a tesco and cafe near by, so feel free to leave the group for a break or coffee whenever suits.
Feel free to message me with any questions.
See below for the general route we will be walking.

Why Not Come with a story , a poem , a wedding speech , anything that worth sharing to a gang of 10 people ? Ping me on Meetup or email sculljam @ hotmail . com .
I can reveal when we meet up exactly. (not at midnight ;-) )
There is a door charge to cover the cost of the room for 2 hours.
**Your Voice Found** Does appreciate the helpful staff at Carmelite centre but we are not aligned with them. This is an independent venture.
**Your Voice Found** has been running for nearly a year so we are still in the early stages. Remember, there is **no commit** (not like other clubs - they wont let you "try before you buy " ) and its cheap to attend and Carmelite Centre probably have the cheapest coffee / tea in Dublin ! We meet once a month. Same convenient Dublin City Centre location. Same time. Different Dates every Month. What is there not to enjoy ? so come along and share stories , impress your boss at the next meeting or engage the family with that wedding speech you keep worrying about. We have helped loads of like minded people . I hope you are the next ! All ages. All abilities. Just ask for James.

Experience Dublin's mysterious legends and myths on this 90 minute walking tour.
### **Legends, Ghosts, and Ghouls!**
Ireland has a unique relationship with its legendary past. Kept alive in the histories of the Filí and the Seanchaidhe, Ireland’s gods were not destroyed but - in the words of Mark Williams - demoted to lesser beings. This is an important element of Ireland’s oral histories, which in turn have coloured its popular histories and left many legends for us to parse over today.
On the other side of Irish history we have the ballrooms, the salons, and the private studies of Dublin’s litterati. The seances and unwrapping parties, the mysteries and the macabre, all combining into the secret esoteric orders that strove to unlock the secrets of existence.
Come explore with us where these two elements fuse to create the wonderful world of Legends, Ghosts, and Ghouls that are just as much a part of Dublin’s history as any of its citizens and buildings…
Our tour has over 100 excellent reviews online and is ranked in the top tours on Trip Advisor.
