Toronto BUILD Meetup: Dynamic Tables Hands-On Lab February 2026 Event
Toronto BUILD Meetup: Dynamic Tables Hands-On Lab February 2026 Event
## **🗺️ Event Location** The event is at the **OneEleven Co-Working Space** located at 325 Front St W, 4th Floor, Toronto, ON M5V 3S9 ## **Imagine data pipelines that manage themselves.** The global BUILD conference is coming to Toronto, bringing the latest in data engineering directly to you. This isn't a lecture—it's a hands-on, heads-down working session where you will master the next generation of the Data Cloud. Join us for an evening where you won't just watch a demo; you'll roll up your sleeves and build a complete **multi-stage data pipeline** from scratch. We will use **Snowflake's Dynamic Tables**—the declarative approach to continuous data transformation—to create a system that automatically handles dependency mapping, scheduling, and data refreshes. Whether you're a data engineer, analytics engineer, or SQL enthusiast, this is your fast track to eliminating orchestration code and deploying robust, low-latency data products. ## **⚡ What We're Building** * **A Self-Managing Analytics Pipeline** 🔄 We are moving beyond traditional batch jobs and complex external schedulers. You will use **Dynamic Tables** to build an end-to-end workflow—from raw data to an analytics-ready fact table—while Snowflake automatically orchestrates every refresh. You'll walk away with the code and the know-how to deploy production-ready pipelines with unprecedented speed and simplicity. * **The Complete Pipeline Stack** 🛠️ You will get hands-on experience building a real-world data architecture: * **Raw Data Ingestion:** We'll set up your source tables and understand how Dynamic Tables detect upstream changes. * **Multi-Stage Transformations:** We'll create intermediate staging layers with declarative SQL—no DAGs, no schedulers. * **Analytics-Ready Fact Tables:** We'll build the final consumption layer and configure refresh policies for low-latency delivery. * **Monitoring & Observability:** We'll explore how to track pipeline health, refresh history, and data freshness. ## **📅 Agenda** We are running the **"Building Self-Managing Data Pipelines"** track. We will have expert TAs from Snowflake and the community on-site to help you debug and build. * **5:00 PM:** Doors Open, Registration, Food & Networking * **6:00 PM:** **Welcome & Core Concepts** – Why Dynamic Tables Change Everything * **6:30 PM:** **Lab Part 1:** Environment Setup, Raw Data Sources & Your First Dynamic Table (Modules 1-3) * **7:30 PM:** Short Break * **7:45 PM:** **Lab Part 2:** Multi-Stage Pipelines & Building Analytics-Ready Fact Tables (Modules 4-5) * **8:30 PM:** Networking & Social * **9:00 PM:** Event Ends ## **👥 Who Should Attend?** We designed this session to be accessible yet deep. * **For Beginners:** If you are new to data engineering or Snowflake, don't worry. We provide a step-by-step manual and have experts in the room to guide you through every line of SQL. You *will* leave with a working pipeline. * **For Experts:** If you are already a pro with dbt, Airflow, or traditional ETL, the lab provides the perfect sandbox. You can race through the basics and spend your time experimenting with refresh policies, incremental patterns, and pushing the limits of declarative pipelines. ## **💻 Prerequisites** This is a working session! To participate and earn your badge, please bring: * **Your Laptop:** Fully charged (stable Wi-Fi provided). * **That's it!** We will provide a Snowflake trial account and all necessary data during the session. ## **🎟️ Secure Your Spot** Spaces are strictly limited to ensure everyone gets 1:1 support during the lab. Don't miss your chance to eliminate orchestration headaches and connect with the Toronto data community. ### **When** February 17, 2026 *Local Time: February 17, 2026, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (EST)* ### **Where** **OneEleven Co-Working** 325 Front St W, 4th Floor, Toronto, ON M5V 3S9

🥞🎉 **13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER!** 🎉🥞 **A Social + Friends-Making Night (and a Very Good Excuse to Eat Pancakes)** Why stay home when you can come out for **PANCAKES on Pancake Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday)**? 🥞✨ This delicious tradition happens the night before Lent — a time when, historically, people used up all the *butter, sugar, and sweet things* before giving something up for 40 days. (You do **not** have to be Catholic — it’s just a fun tradition I grew up with… and honestly, pancakes are reason enough.) It’s a weeknight, it’s cozy, it’s social, and it’s the perfect excuse to gather, laugh, and make new friends over a plate of fluffy goodness. 🧈🍯 👉 **Please note:** You don’t *have* to order pancakes… …but it’s **highly encouraged** 😉🥞 👉 **Don’t forget to join our WhatsApp group** – [CLICK HERE!](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc?mode=ac_t) \*\*\* 🍽️ The Restaurant: **Kos Restaurant – Kensington Market** Kos is one of the **oldest and most beloved restaurants in Kensington Market** and one of Toronto’s top brunch spots. Weekend wait times can reach **an hour or more**, which tells you everything you need to know. They’re famous for: 🥞 Golden, fluffy pancakes 🍳 All-day breakfast 🌟 Fresh, made-to-order comfort food **Menu:** [Click Here!](https://www.kosrestaurant.ca/menu) ⚠️ **PLEASE NOTE:** This is a small diner, and we may be seated at **multiple tables** — but we’ll still be eating pancakes together in spirit. 🥞💛 \*\*\* 🧢 How to Find Me I’ll be outside the restaurant wearing my **Moose Hat** 🫎🎩 ❗ **PLEASE DO NOT GO INSIDE WITHOUT ME** — I’ll only wait **5 minutes** outside. 🚫 **Please don’t call the restaurant** — they won’t have any information about the event. 💬 Message **Mathew** directly with any questions. \*\*\* 💰 Costs 🍽️ **Cost of your meal:** $ (pay directly to the restaurant) 🎟️ **Meetup Fee:** $5 cash in person **or** e-transfer to 📧 \*\*[mathewmaclean@hotmail.com**](http://mathewmaclean@hotmail.com%2A%2A/) This fee helps support the group and allows us to keep hosting events like this. Thank you for supporting community! 💖 \*\*\* ⏰ A Gentle Reminder This is a **Tuesday night**. If you’re not sure you’ll be able to leave work on time, please wait to sign up until you know you can make it. Members who no-show or change their RSVP on the day may be held accountable per group rules — we want to be fair to everyone and to the restaurant. \*\*\* \#\#\# 🌈 Who Is This For? This group is open to **everyone** who wants to be social, make friends, and enjoy great experiences — whether you’re single or not. We host: 🎬 Movies 🚶 Walks & hikes 🎭 Arts & culture 🍽️ Restaurant outings …and lots of cozy, community-focused events like this one. \*\*\* ⚠️ **NOTE:** Sometimes things happen and events may need to be cancelled — please keep an eye out for updates. 👤 **Organizer:** Mathew Questions? \*\*Please note that this event requires your name and email address for QR code to get access to the building on the event day, you must register or else you will not receive a QR code for access\*\* [Link ](https://forms.office.com/r/kUUNAxpugZ)to Registration: https://forms.office.com/r/kUUNAxpugZ ### Topic 1: Agentic DevOps: Redefining the SDLC DevOps just got an upgrade. Thanks to GitHub Copilot and other AI tools your pipelines can now think ahead, automate the boring stuff, and even nudge you when you’re about to break production (again). This talk dives into agentic AI—the kind of AI that doesn’t just wait for orders but actually helps out, like a proactive teammate who never sleeps. Agentic DevOps is a paradigm that combines human developer expertise with AI-powered tools and frameworks to enhance software delivery. While Microsoft popularized the concept, it’s not limited to their ecosystem. You can apply Agentic DevOps with: \- Coding agents like : Cursor\, Windsurf\, Claude Code\, Codex etc \- Local AI coding agents: Continue\, Cline\, Roo Open-source models: Llama 4, Mistral, DeepSeek, Qwen \- On\-prem deployment tools: vLLM\, SGLang\, TGI \- Agent Frameworks: LangGraph\, AutoGen\, CrewAI\, DSPy etc These are just few examples but choose your preferred tooling and infrastructure, whether on-prem or in the cloud with AWS, GCP, Azure, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, or Alibaba Cloud. Agentic DevOps is about augmenting human capabilities with AI, not about vendor lock-in. Agentic DevOps is for everyone. We’ll show how Copilot helps you write, review, and ship code faster, while Azure keeps the infrastructure humming along. Think: smarter CI/CD, fewer “oops” moments, and more time to focus on the fun parts of building software. Expect real-world examples, best practices, and a few cautionary tales. You’ll leave with practical ideas for making AI a trusted part of your DevOps toolkit—without replacing the humans who still need coffee breaks. Whether you’re a DevOps engineer, team lead, or architect, this session will help you see how AI can make your life easier, your pipelines smarter, and your deployments a lot less stressful. Speaker: **Max Yermakhanov, Microsoft MVP** **Topic 2: Building a Secure Browser Agent with Microsoft AI Foundry & Azure Playwright Workspace** AI agents are moving beyond APIs and command-line tools — they are starting to reason and act inside real web browsers. In this session, we’ll explore how to build a secure, production-minded browser agent using Microsoft AI Foundry and Azure Playwright Workspace, enabling agents to autonomously navigate websites, interact with UI elements, validate outcomes, and report results with transparency and guardrails. Speaker: **Kaan Turgut, Hybrid Cloud Solution Architect** **Topic 3: Introduction to Azure SRE Agent** As organizations increasingly adopt cloud-native architectures, maintaining reliability and operational excellence becomes a critical challenge. Enter Azure SRE Agent—a cutting-edge solution designed to bring Site Reliability Engineering principles into the AI era. This session introduces the Azure SRE Agent, an intelligent, autonomous system that leverages AI-driven insights and automation to monitor, diagnose, and remediate reliability issues across distributed environments. Speaker: **Ehsan Eskandari, Microsoft MVP**

For this event, we’ll help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents, wash dishes and clean surfaces at Fath Mission – Grant Kitchen. With very few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. THANK YOU: This CMG Gives Back event provides an opportunity for YOU to get involved in helping others! Benefits go well beyond the help we give to others. Volunteering provides a wide range of personal benefits, including positive effects on mental and physical health, reduced stress/depression/anxiety, increased happiness and improved purpose, life-satisfaction and personal well-being! Plus, the opportunity to get involved, connect with others and help those in need. PARTNER AGENCY: This event is hosted by Lutheran Social Services (LSS), which serves thousands of people in need each day in 27 Ohio counties by addressing the four core societal issues of food, shelter, safety and healing. LSS offers food through the LSS Food Pantries, housing and supportive services through LSS Faith Mission and LSS Faith Mission of Fairfield County homeless shelters, domestic violence services through LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, senior living and health care, affordable housing communities, and other services that uplift families and strengthen communities. The film follows a man from the future who recruits diners at an LA restaurant to help combat rogue AI. Here’s a description, trailer and our plan for this event: GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON’T DIE: A man from the future arrives at a diner in Los Angeles where he must recruit the precise combination of disgruntled patrons to join him on a one-night quest to save the world from the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence.
