When our favorite artists and thinkers disappoint us
When our favorite artists and thinkers disappoint us
**Experimental Discussion** **Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)** Have you ever been disappointed in an artist, a thinker or a public figure who was actually important to you? In this discussion, we want to reflect on how we deal with moments when art or ideas that matter to us are suddenly poisoned by something we learn about the people who made them. This is a version of the old question „Can you separate the art from the artist?“. However, in this discussion I’d love for us to focus on our personal experience rather than debating how society should deal with art we don’t personally care about. In this event, we’ll use experimental methods to structure our conversation and encourage insightful exchange. Find out more in the FAQ below, or [send us an email](mailto:info@diskussions-experiment.de) if you have any questions! +++++++++ **FAQ** ***What can I expect from the event?*** Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out or feel. Our intention is always to create a space where conversations unfold more mindfully, relaxed, and insightful than they would in an unmoderated setting. To achieve this, we experiment with different rules, which may work better or worse at times :) In any case, it’s always worth sticking around for a while after the moderated part – our participants are lovely, and it’s a great additional opportunity to exchange ideas ***Who is this event for?*** This event is for anyone who is curious about the topic and/or the method. We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome. You don’t need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part. ***Do I have to actively participate, or can I just listen?*** It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be a name round as well as breakout groups, i.e. short segments in which all participants talk in groups of 2-3 people. You do not have to participate in these; you can use the time for a break instead. ***What’s the duration of the event?*** Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel welcome to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation. ***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?*** The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms! ***What is "The Discussion Experiment"*** The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations. Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively. Read more about it on the [main page.](https://diskussions-experiment.de/en/home/) This project is run by [Igor Don](http://www.linkedin.com/in/igor-don) and Maria Scholze.

Did you know that you can solve 90% of business problems with only prints and inputs? well, maybe that was a lie but not far off from the truth. In this talk I want to guide you on how you can solve a real life case scenario of a business wanting to adjust the prices of their articles base on real time demand. Starting with a few variables an input and a print and slowly grow into a real time system consuming from different sources, to answer the hardest question there is. Was it worth it? or should we have stopped at reading from files 7 iterations ago? **Speaker:** Eric Rishmüller **Bio:** Eric works as a Lead Data Engineer at Thomann Musikhaus. He has been living in Berlin for the past five years and is originally from Argentina. Eric started sharing his passion for Python seven years ago and is quite active in Spanish-speaking Python communities. **Lightning talks** There will be slots for 2-3 Lightning Talks (3-5 Minutes for each). Projects that are over budget, delayed, or that fail to scale past the POC phase are very common. In many of these scenarios, choosing the right approach can be as critical as the solution itself. Should you build a tailored machine learning model, leverage the power of large language models (LLMs), or integrate with AI copilots? Each option has unique strengths, trade-offs, and resource requirements, and the key to success lies in aligning your choice with your business goals and technical constraints. In this talk, we will go beyond the basic concepts and definitions to provide a practical guide that allows attendees to navigate these decisions through real-world case studies. We will examine scenarios in which different AI paradigms were chosen, discuss the factors that influenced those decisions, and outline the process for evaluating needs, constraints, and outcomes. From assessing data availability and team expertise to balancing cost and scalability, you'll gain insights into the critical considerations that guide the selection process. By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear process for determining whether machine learning, LLMs, or copilots are best suited to your AI challenges and understand the resources and strategies needed to bring your chosen solution to life. This talk is ideal for decision-makers, technical leads, and innovators seeking to demystify AI implementation and maximize the impact of their investments.

CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a “window” to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems: * Using running totals * Performing operations in intervals * Identifying data gaps and islands * Performing aggregates without losing detail Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly.
