Build & Learn: Data Science with Coffee Badge for Lindsey
**📅 Week 1 Focus: Kickoff & New Shared Project Theme**
We’re starting a new **7-week cycle** with a clear theme:
**building one data science project together from start to finish.** 👩💻 No experience required
Each 7-week cycle focuses on a **small, well-defined part of a larger system**—and over time, these cycles build toward a complete, real-world project (covering data engineering, data science, and deployment).
You’re welcome to work on your own project if you prefer, but the shared project gives everyone a common foundation and learning rhythm.
🧠 2026 First Project
This cycle’s shared project is an **image-based knowledge extraction system**., including:
* Taking photos of book pages or documents
* Extracting and cleaning text from images
* Structuring that information into something useful (e.g. flashcards, notes, summaries)
📌 By the End of a Full Cycle, You should Have
🎯 A working project in your own GitHub repo
🎯 A small but real portfolio piece you can demo or write about
🎯 Experience going from messy inputs → concrete outcomes
Perfection isn’t the goal—finishing something real is.
✨ Who’s Hosting?
I’m Lindsey, a senior data scientist working on AI, causal inference, and data products.
I’ve built models for fraud detection, uplift modeling, and LLM-based systems—and I care a lot about learning through building, not hype.

Women's Yoga: cycle awareness
Women's Yoga is a gentle, nourishing practice designed to support the health of the female body. The classes follow a cycle-aware approach, honoring the natural changes in hormones, energy levels, and emotional states throughout the month.
Each session begins with a short guided meditation to settle the mind, followed by a soft, flowing yoga practice and a deeply relaxing closing rest. The movements and postures are carefully chosen to support the female organs, pelvic floor, hips, and lower body, helping to create balance, strength, and ease.
This practice is intuitive and permission-based. You're invited to move at your own rhythm, in tune with your cycle and how you feel on the day. Breathwork plays an important role, supporting the nervous system and hormonal balance.
Women's Yoga offers a space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and build a deeper sense of awareness, acceptance, and trust in your natural cycles.
Come as you are.

Hi, I am Zoe, a software engineer by profession. I have been running this support group since a year 😇
What to expect in the circle:
\- The first 45 minutes we can spend to get coffee and settle down
\- On a volunteer basis\, each of the attendee will then get some time to share things that they are dealing with\, perhaps for 2\-5 minutes
\- You can skip sharing even if you are in a circle\, there's no force \(and there will never be\) on you to share\, staying silent and listening is completely ok
\- Attendees can recommend books or reading material if they like

Museum Sunday for Vegans: Futurium
Join us for a relaxed Sunday meetup at Futurium. We’ll explore the exhibitions together and chat as we go. It’s free entry and a great winter option because it’s indoors and warm.
* **Where:** Futurium main entrance, Alexanderufer 2, 10117 Berlin
* **When:** Sunday 25 January, 14:00
* **Meeting plan:** 14:00 sharp. I’ll wait **5 minutes max**, then go in. After that I won’t check my phone. If you’re late, you can find us inside or tour the museum on your own.
* **Costs:** Free entry
* **Plan:** Quick hello, then we explore in a relaxed loop and regroup now and then. Depends on how we feel, we might go for drinks afterwards.
We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable. Please respect boundaries. Harassment or disrespectful behaviour isn’t welcome and may mean removal from future events.
[face to face] Interview Simulation
Join this **Interview Simulation** session — to sharpen the skills for both interviews **and** architectural pitches.
💡 How it works
The event is split into three parts:
1. **Most common behavioral & HR questions** \- you will receive a printed list of behavioral/HR questions and we brainstorm tips on how to prepare for them
2. **Interview Simulation (10 minute rounds)** – One participant acts as the interviewee and answers a round of behavioral and design-focused questions. Each other participant gets to ask him one interview question.
3. **Feedback Round** – The group provides feedback on communication, structure, and clarity. Constructive criticism is encouraged.
💡You will be asked:
* **Behavioral questions** (“Tell me about yourself”, “Describe a challenge you faced...”)
* **Technical questions** (based on your tech stack)
* **Light design problems** (high-level reasoning, not code)
No need to prepare anything in advance — just bring curiosity and an open mind.
Feel free to bring your CV if you’d like feedback from others, or share a few words if you’re currently job hunting. If so, we will also brainstorm answers to more common questions that you were asked.
Whether you’re preparing for an interview or simply want to grow as a software designer or architect, this session is for you.
