Cloud Native Barcelona OpenTelemetry #3
Cloud Native Barcelona OpenTelemetry #3
This is the third in a series of meetups exploring the exciting world of **[OpenTelemetry](https://opentelemetry.io/)** within the cloud-native ecosystem. And this time, we are partnering with our good friends at [Write the Docs Barcelona](https://www.meetup.com/write-the-docs-barcelona/). Whether you're just curious about observability or already a seasoned OpenTelemetry user, this series will offer valuable insights, practical knowledge, and opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts in the Barcelona cloud-native community. **📍 Location:** **[Factorial](https://factorial.es)** \- Carrer de Llacuna 56\, building C\, Barcelona \| [https://maps.app.goo.gl/baTqk9H8m3ACK4jD7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/baTqk9H8m3ACK4jD7) **👉 Here's a sneak peek of the agenda:** **18:30:** Check-in and welcome 👋 **18:45:** 🎙️ **"Collaborating in OSS projects: The OpenTelemetry Docs case study"** by **[Anna Urbiztondo](https://www.linkedin.com/in/annaurbiztondo/)** - *Senior Technical Writer at [Grafana Labs](https://grafana.com)*, **[Fabrizio Ferri-Benedetti](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fabrizioferri/)**[ ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/fabrizioferri/)- *Principal Technical Writer* *at [Elastic](https://elastic.co)***.** This Write the Docs meets Cloud Native talk covers what makes open-source projects succeed in practice — clear focus, community ownership, organization, goodwill, and excellent communication in a fast-moving codebase. Hikoustics con Mike Rauss - Urban Jungle Hike + Música en directo & senderismo
Hikoustics con Mike Rauss - Urban Jungle Hike + Música en directo & senderismo
**A short sunset hike through Barcelona’s wild side, ending with an intimate live concert in nature by Mike Rauss.** *Una ruta corta al atardecer por el lado más salvaje de Barcelona, terminando con un concierto íntimo en la naturaleza de Mike Rauss.* **Ver Castellano abajo**⤵️ Hey music and nature lovers 🌿🎶 Hikoustics is back: a simple but magical Yepalo format where we combine a short hike through Barcelona’s urban jungle with an intimate live music session. ***In short*** * Sunset easy hike + intimate live concert by [Mike Rauss](https://www.instagram.com/mikerauss/) in a secret spot * Duration aprox: 1h30 hike + 1h live show * Distance: aprox 5 km * Elevation gain: aprox 200 m * Difficulty: easy * Price: €16 * Bring: comfortable shoes, water, warm clothes, picnic/snacks, and a blanket or towel, headlamp or phone light. * Book your spot [here](https://www.yepalo.com/events/hikoustics-with-mike-rauss-urban-jungle-hike-live-music) ***About Mike Rauss*** Mike Rauss is a singer, guitarist and songwriter. His music blends folk, funk, flamenco guitar, groove and world music influences, creating something warm, playful, soulful and deeply human. Live, his music feels especially powerful: intimate, rhythmic, improvised, full of feeling and impossible not to smile with. [Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/user/mikerauss) [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/mikerauss/) [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/artist/15URpU4gE26vY1FCItg5gu) [Deezer](https://www.deezer.com/en/artist/60800782) ***Now the detailed plan!*** We’ll meet in metro Guinardo (L4) in Barcelona and go for a short sunset hike through one of the city’s green, wild and less obvious corners. Think hidden paths, urban hills, nature inside the city, good views, a relaxed group and that peaceful moment when Barcelona starts changing light in the evening. The hike will be easy and accessible, but we’ll still walk on some uneven paths and go slightly up and down, so please wear comfortable shoes. At the end of the hike, we’ll sit down together and enjoy an intimate live concert by Mike Rauss in a secret corner. Bring your picnic, something to drink and a blanket or towel to sit on. This Hikoustics feels extra special for us. We discovered Mike’s music almost by accident on Spotify and instantly fell in love with his universe. Then we saw that one of his live songs had been recorded in Spain and thought: “Wait… maybe this guy plays here sometimes?” A few clicks later, we found out he was playing in El Masnou just two weeks later. So we went. And honestly… the concert was incredible. We met him after the show, became friends, and now we’re super happy to bring this Hikoustics session with someone who, for us, started as a little Spotify discovery and quickly became one of our musical crushes. **PRICE**: €16 Includes: Guided hike Live concert by Mike Rauss Insurance in case of accident + civil liability VAT **How to book your spot?** Step 1. Make the payment on our website: [https://www.yepalo.com/events/hikoustics-with-mike-rauss-urban-jungle-hike-live-music](https://www.yepalo.com/events/hikoustics-with-mike-rauss-urban-jungle-hike-live-music) Step 2. Sign up on meetup Feel free to WhatsApp us if you have any question! No pasa nada. Yepalo +34 699 444 539 Moshe

In this talk, I share how I built a personal AI system that sees the same inputs I do: Slack channels, meeting transcripts, Notion docs, people profiles. The system learns my patterns over time and surfaces insights before action — not after. Through six concrete principles and real examples, I show what it means to architect context instead of carrying it in your head. And what stays irreversibly human: presence in 1:1s, lead-by-example moments, empathy in hard conversations. 19:00 - **Don't Delegate Understanding,** Pau Ramon, CEO at Ramensoft. Is this an AI talk or a Leadership talk? There's only one way to know. 19:25 – Closing remarks 19:30 – Networking with Food & Drinks 21:00 – Close Spaces are limited – **RSVP to secure your spot** and join a community of engineering leaders who are shaping the future of tech! Whether you're an established engineering manager or stepping into a leadership role, **LeadDev Barcelona Meetup** will give you the tools, insights, and connections to level up your career and make a lasting impact on your teams.
¡Nos vamos a la Sierra de Guara!** 🧗🏻‍♀️💦🥾 **Who´s up for 5 days of hiking (and optionally canyoning & climbing) in one of the most beautiful areas of Spain? We are going to the Sierra de Guara!** SEE ENGLISH TRANSLATION BELOW ⤵️ *¿Quieres venir pero quedarte menos días? ¡No pasa nada! YEPALO +34699444539 \-\-\-\-\-\-\- *Want to join the trip for a shorter time? WhatsApp us +34699444539* 🥾**The Plan** The Natural Park of Sierra de Guara, located in the Spanish Pre-Pyrenees, is a spectacular land of limestone canyons, crystal-clear rivers, hidden pools and small villages full of character. It’s one of those places that feels especially magical in warm weather, because the landscape invites you not only to hike, but also to **enjoy the water along the way**. This is what makes Sierra de Guara such a special summer destination: many of the hiking routes include sections where we **walk along the river, cross the water, cool off in natural pools and enjoy refreshing swims** in beautiful wild surroundings. On hotter days, we may choose routes with **less distance**, but that doesn’t mean less adventure or less time outdoors, quite the opposite. We still spend the full day active in nature, combining hiking with walking through the river, crossing streams, swimming, and fully enjoying the landscape in a more refreshing way. On cooler days, we take the opportunity to do **longer and more walking-focused hikes**, covering more distance on foot while still enjoying the beauty of the area. Sierra de Guara is also world-famous as one of the best places in Europe for **canyoning and climbing**. So this trip can be as hiking-focused or as adventure-focused as you want: you can simply join for the hikes, or choose to replace one or more hiking days with canyoning or climbing activities. For more details and pictures, [click here!](https://www.yepalo.com/hiking-canyoning-sierra-de-guara) While Barcelona fills with fireworks and noise for Sant Joan, we’ll be heading to nature for a very different kind of experience: fresh air, beautiful landscapes, water, and a much more peaceful way to celebrate those dates. **How to sign up?** Step 1: 👋 Sign up for Meetup on the attendee list Step 2: 💰Make the payment of €175 in our website: [https://www.yepalo.com/events/sierra-de-guara-5-days-hiking-in-the-paradise-of-huesca-4-nights](https://www.yepalo.com/events/sierra-de-guara-5-days-hiking-in-the-paradise-of-huesca-4-nights) IMPORTANT: This is the only way to ensure a place for the activity. 🚦**Difficulty level:** * Hikes: Easy - moderate: from 8 to 14km and 200 to 500m level difference. * Canyoning (optional): Easy. Jumps are optionals and up to everyone's own will (and need for) adrenalin. Perfect for beginners or people that want to improve their technique. * Climbing (optional): for beginners or people with more experience. 🏡 **Accommodation:** We’ll stay in cozy apartments with a swimming pool. Each unit has a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and two bedrooms with two single beds (let us know if you're coming with your partner and want a double bed). If you prefer, you can request (subject to availability) a private room for an extra +€30/night. 🥣 **Food:** There’s a small grocery store if you want to cook your own meals, and also a nice restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner—vegan/vegetarian options available at very reasonable prices. We’ll also suggest having dinner together for those who’d like to share the mealtime vibe. 🚗 **How we'll get there:** We'll be sharing private cars. When you sign up, you'll be invited to let us know if you have a car, how many people can come with you. Each passenger will contribute €35 to the driver to cover toll expenses. 🎒**What to bring:** everyone: * Raincoat/waterproof hiking gear * Hiking shoes * Sun protection * Swimming suit + towel (river baths) * Walking sticks (optional). * Another pair of **sport shoes with a good sole** (we'll use those ones to walk in the water. 🐝 Crestas y picos • Pallars vs Val d’Aran ☀️2D/1N🌜
21st BcnRust Meetup
We’re thrilled to announce the next edition of the BcnRust Meetup, this time hosted by **[Protofy](https://protofy.xyz/)**! Join us for an evening exploring two very different but equally ambitious Rust projects: an AI-native virtual machine that rethinks how code is executed, and a distributed task queue built as a hands-on journey into async Rust, concurrency, and fault-tolerant systems. Whether you're interested in language runtimes, AI agents, distributed systems, or simply seeing how Rust enables bold ideas, this meetup is for you. **Driver: An Agentic VM in Rust** by [Cristian Sánchez](https://www.linkedin.com/in/cr3at0r/) Most virtual machines are deterministic by design. LLMs break that. But what if AI wasn't an external API on top, but a native execution primitive inside the VM itself? Driver is a Rust VM where AI is a first-class execution primitive. The stdlib is aware of whether it's being invoked by deterministic bytecode or by an LLM-generated action and behaves accordingly. We'll cover the practical decisions behind the core VM, and the toolkit around it. **Aether: Learning Async Rust by building a Distributed Task Queue** by [Arnau Berenguer](https://www.linkedin.com/in/arnau-berenguer-jimenez/) Building a distributed system is a great way to learn async Rust because you run into all the hard parts for real. In this talk I'll walk through Aether, a personal project of a task queue that lets you submit and run Python scripts on a cluster from a CLI. We'll cover the system architecture, how to handle multiple concurrent tasks sharing state, how to handle loss of connection, and propagating cancellation signals on concurrent tasks over the network. Along the way we'll see the honest lessons learned and what makes async Rust hard but fun. **Why Attend?** * Explore advanced Rust applications, from AI-native runtimes to distributed infrastructure. * Learn practical lessons about virtual machine design, async programming, concurrency, and fault tolerance. * Discover how experienced Rust developers approach complex systems and architectural trade-offs. * Connect with Barcelona's Rust community and exchange ideas with fellow engineers, makers, and enthusiasts. * Get inspired by real-world projects that push Rust beyond the usual web services and CLI tools. Whether you're a Rust beginner curious about what's possible, or a seasoned developer looking to dive deeper into systems programming, you'll leave with new ideas, technical insights, and plenty to discuss. Let’s build, learn, and geek out over Rust together! 🦀 **Streaming**: We will stream it via YouTube so you can also subscribe to our [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@bcnrust) to get notified when we go live.
