#43: From Fuzzy To Flawless
#43: From Fuzzy To Flawless
Hello DDDers, Things are slowly getting back in motion after the Christmas holidays, so it's time to welcome the new year with our next event! [Andreas Maniatakos](https://www.linkedin.com/in/amaniatakos/), Senior Engineering Manager at T-Digital will be the first to take the stage for 2026, with an interesting experience report. [Kostas Stroggylos](https://www.linkedin.com/in/circular) will follow with a discussion on the synergy between DDD and AI. **Talk by Andreas: From Fuzzy to Flawless: A simple framework that transformed a team from task-takers to domain owners** Ever felt stuck in a project where the requirements are vague, the legacy code is a mystery, and the team is just executing tasks without a clear "why"? You're not alone. Our team was handed the classic "modernize the legacy monolith" project, surrounded by organizational chaos and fuzzy goals. Instead of waiting for perfect clarity, we decided to change *how we worked*. In this session, I'll share the story of how we introduced a few key, simple practices and, more importantly, stuck to them with consistency. This wasn't about a magic tool or a top-down direction. It was about empowering the team with a framework that shifted us from being managed to leading, from being generalists to becoming subject matter experts, and from reacting to chaos to driving impact. If you're curious about how practices like a 6-week delivery cycle, collaborative "3 Amigos" sessions, and rotating team facilitation can unlock autonomy and expertise, join us. Learn how we transformed from task-takers to true domain owners, and how you might apply the same principles to navigate your own complexity. **Speaker bio** I’ve spent the last 18 years building software and leading teams, mostly in complex, sometimes chaotic industries like insurance, music, and telcos. I love helping teams do their best work even when the path isn’t clear and taking on messy problems and turning them into opportunities for teams to grow, own their domain, and deliver stuff that matters. Outside of work, you can find me hiking up mountains, attempting to make pottery that doesn’t look like a sad pancake, or traveling somewhere with questionable Wi-Fi. I’m always up for chatting about building great teams, better engineering cultures, or the last concert that blew your mind. **Talk by Kostas:** **Discovering domains in legacy codebases with the help of AI** With AI-assisted software development becoming the norm, we'll discuss what are the challenges when working with legacy code and how AI can help. We'll also explore how DDD can amplify the effectiveness of AI tools when using them to explore existing systems or build new ones. **Meetup Outline** 18:30 - 18:45 Warm welcome 18:45 - 19:30 Talk by Andreas 19:30 - 20:00 Talk by Kostas 20:00+ Networking & Discussions **Sponsors** XM is kindly hosting the event on their premises, which are located only 5' on foot from Megaron Athens. XM ([https://www.xm.com/](https://www.xm.com/)) is an award winning online trading broker firm that serves clients from over 190 countries on 5 continents. It is now an established fintech organisation with core capability of software, platforms and product development. All the best, [DDDGreece meetup team](https://twitter.com/dddgreece).
Informal Meet & Greet and a Fresh Start
Informal Meet & Greet and a Fresh Start
Hello everyone and a Happy 2026 !! o/ I had stepped up to keep this group running a while back, as I recently moved to Athens. I never found the time to get more involved and get some meetups going again though... Till now! After some discussions over on the Software Makers zulip chat, a few of us decided to have an informal get-together, on Wednesday 14 Jan @ 20:00 . Please join us if you: * would like to see more meetups around the Software Making Craft in Athens, * would like to revive this community, * are a meetup organiser of another relevant community, * are curious about the [SoCraTes Crete unconference](https://socrates-crete.org/), * would like to learn more about the non-profit [Software Makers Association](https://opencollective.com/software-makers) and how it can help you, * just want to share a $beverage with fellow Software Crafters. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Note: Please do RSVP in case you're planning to join, so we can adjust the venue accordingly. Disclaimer: Even though this event is happening at the start of a New Year, there is no pitta cutting! :)

Intro to GitHub Copilot: Your AI Pair Programmer - Chris Steele
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** GitHub Copilot is rapidly changing how developers write, understand, and maintain code. Powered by generative AI and deeply integrated into modern development environments, Copilot acts as an intelligent coding assistant, helping developers move faster while maintaining quality and focus. In this session, we’ll explore what GitHub Copilot is, how it works, and where it fits into a real-world developer workflow. We’ll break down what Copilot can (and cannot) do, where it can be used, and how licensing differs for individuals and organizations. Most importantly, this talk goes beyond theory with a live, hands-on demo showcasing Copilot inside the IDE and on GitHub, demonstrating how it can assist with code generation, refactoring, learning new APIs, and accelerating day-to-day development tasks. Designed for developers, technical leads, and engineering managers, this session provides a practical introduction to AI-assisted development, highlights best practices for getting value from Copilot, and closes with guidance on how to continue learning and evolving alongside this rapidly advancing tool. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how GitHub Copilot can enhance productivity, improve developer experience, and fit into modern software teams today, not someday. **YouTube Link** TBA

Software ate the world, Agents are eating Software Engineering
Software ate the world, Agents are eating Software Engineering
2026 may be the last year many developers write code by hand. We need coding agents to solve complex problems in production codebases, but vibe coding alone won’t get us there. Vibe coding is all gas, no brakes. It burns up the context window until the agent slips on its own slop. You can go fast at first, but the more you stuff into the context window, the more tangled its outputs get. While the industry is rapidly increasing code generation speed, we still have to understand, review, merge, and maintain what gets shipped. This talk featuring Michael Geiger will outline how coding agents (Claude Code + Gas Town) work and a framework for orchestrating them to solve complicated problems in complex codebases. It’s about steering the model: doing the research to align intent, planning the approach up front, implementing in parallel steps, and breaking early. Human judgment still matters, but it should be spent on high-leverage decisions: what to build, what to forbid, and “what is quality?”, not cleaning up slop. Attendees will leave with a checklist to identify workflow and environment gaps that hold agents back, so you and your team can ship higher-quality software starting tomorrow.
