Tejas Camp - Early Migrants
Tejas Camp - Early Migrants
Whether you’re a seasoned "lister" chasing spring migrants or a curious beginner hoping to spot your very first "spark bird," come join us for a morning of discovery at **[Tejas Camp](https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234643)**! Nestled along the scenic North San Gabriel River, this LCRA gem is a vital stopover for birds traveling the Central Flyway. Its well-protected riparian habitat and dense canopy provide the perfect "rest stop" for weary travelers, making it one of the best spots in the area to witness the magic of spring migration. **What We’ll Be Looking For** The river corridor at Tejas Camp acts as a natural highway for a dazzling variety of species. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for: * Vibrant Warblers: From the sharp, yellow-and-gray contrast of the Nashville Warbler to the striking patterns of the Black-and-white, we’ll hunt for these "jewels of the trees" as they forage in the pecans and elms. * Flycatchers & Passerines: Watch for the acrobatic stunts of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers or listen for the distinctive whistles of Great Crested Flycatchers and Summer Tanagers. * River Residents: We might even catch a glimpse of a Belted Kingfisher patrolling the water or a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron stalking the shallows. **A Relaxed, Low-Impact Hike** Our route follows the gentle, soft-dirt trails that wind through the park. This is a low-impact hike designed for all fitness levels. We’ll move at a "birder’s pace"—slow and observant—to ensure everyone has time to get their binoculars on the action. **All Skill Levels Welcome** New to birding? Don't worry! This is a relaxed, educational walk. We’ll practice "birding by ear" and share tips on how to identify birds by their silhouette and behavior. For the veterans, this is a great chance to share your expertise and enjoy the camaraderie of the local birding community in a beautiful setting. **The Details** Please bring water, comfortable walking shoes, and your binoculars. Tejas Camp offers a peaceful escape where the sounds of the city are replaced by the songs of the San Gabriel. Let’s head out and see what surprises the spring migration has in store for us! *** We will meet in the parking lot by the restrooms off CR258.

This trail is paved so you don't need any hiking boots, but be sure to bring two or more liters of water and a flashlight. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the trail. We will meet at the pavilion in the parking lot and I will attach a picture. NOTE: In the event of bad weather, I will issue a cancellation notice at least one hour prior to the event's start time. Please note meetup has had a massive increase in price and has nearly doubled the fee to organize clubs. If you like the club and want to donate you can pay Kevin by Venmo [here](https://venmo.com/u/Kevin-Coe-9). Finally, we recommend that you review information on the trail and that you come prepared for the hike (e.g., bring at least two liters of water, wear appropriate footwear, and a brimmed hat.) By RSVPing for this event, you are agreeing that you are taking sole responsibility for your own health and safety and, if any, your guests' health and safety. HABEX2 - High Altitude Balloon Flight - Design Update - Hybrid
HABEX2 - High Altitude Balloon Flight - Design Update - Hybrid
This event is managed by Nature Nerds Austin -- https://www.meetup.com/nature-nerds-of-austin/ This is the monthly design status and update meeting. Participation is both in person and online. The meeting will be held at a private makerspace, Diogenes. It is located in the same building as the adult club Colette Austin. The door is at the left end of the building, Suite C. Go to the back of the first floor workspace and head upstairs. If you have questions please feel free to submit them in the comments below or send them to me directly. Zoom meeting details will be posted about a half hour before the meeting begins. HABEX - High Altitude Balloon Experiments The reference to experiments is two-fold. The first is in regard to the actual balloon construction and flight processes. The second is a reference to the payload and what it does during the flight (e.g. images, environmental measurements, etc.). To be clear, there will be two design processes going on in parallel, the balloon proper and the payload. This initial flight is really focusing on the balloon to get that process pinned down and clearly defined. The initial payload should be simple (e.g. digital camera taking pictures). One of the primary design considerations will be the use of CanSat techniques in the design and construction process. We may need to build a technology demonstrator for this (i.e. dummy payload) before the actual flight process. CanSat -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CanSat Design Process: Design/Buy > Assemble > Test > Loop (Will it fly?) > Flight Plan Meeting Sequence: Pilot - Initial meeting (possibly two) to gauge interest and get first round of participants. Design - Group responsible for the first four stages of the Design Process. - Multiple meetings. Pre-Flight - Review process to date and verify readiness - Set the date of launch - Possibly two meetings Launch - Two teams (Launch and Recovery) Clean up - Launch team cleans up launch site and transitions to tracking and telemetry Recovery - Recovery team (possibly several groups) chases the balloon and tries to stay ahead of it. Post-Flight - Review, analysis, and release of flight report (including experimental results if any). Flight Plan: * Pre-Flight * Schedule * Assembly * Launch * Tracking * Recovery * Review/Release Results Constraints: * COVID 19 * Budget * Resources/Tools/Facilities * Legal (e.g. FAA rules about weight and number of modules) * People * Transportation

Meet other Algorithmic Traders, Day Traders, Option Traders and Investors
Note this is for informational and educational purposes. Not financial or tax advice **see detailed disclaimer below**. We will discuss trading and investing strategies, as well as the skills needed to start. It is a **casual meetup to meet people who are interested in trading or building a career around it, especially algorithmically. No "financial gurus" are welcome.** Join us for a meetup where we share trading ideas, and connect with others who share a common interest in investing. Algorithmic trading is commonly used by large institutional investors and market makers, but it is also accessible to retail traders. It offers several advantages over manual or discretionary approaches—particularly in minimizing psychological errors that often impact human traders. Some of the topics we usually discuss: \- Reasons for investing \- Limitations of being a retail trader \- Practical tools: brokers\, APIs\, data sources\, real\-time implementation \- Brainstorming ideas: strategies that may be working today **Note this even is not sponsored or endorsed by any business where we are meeting. We are just using their space for casual meetup event.** **Please no promotion of MLM, pyramid schemes, self promotion to paid services, affiliate promotion, paid subscriptions or similar stuff.** **Useful Links** * Notion page of [Algo Trading Resources](https://systemetic.notion.site/Algorithmic-Trading-Resources-fe400c5258e440fd8a4d63770d08bc13) * [Telegram Channel Invite](https://t.me/+sRLNt-7THMsxMGFh) * ===================================================================== **Disclaimer:** This meetup is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be construed as professional financial advice. From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 **Abstract** Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively. This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way. **YouTube Link** TBA
