DeepTech Talks BCN: From Data Autonomy to Adaptive AI
## **From Data Autonomy to Adaptive AI: Building Systems That Change How Decisions Get Made**
**DOORS OPEN: 18:30**
**TALKS START: 19:00**
**NETWORKING: 20:00 - 21:30**
## **Our Speakers**
**Marta Expósito Ventura, PhD, Head of Data, Stark Future**
**Africa Perianez, Co-founder & CEO, Causal Foundry**
## **Marta Esposito - From ticket queues to data autonomy - engineering the shift**
**Marta Esposito is Head of Data at Stark Future, an electric motorcycle company building high-performance, connected vehicles at the intersection of hardware, software, manufacturing and data.**
**In her talk, Marta will explore what it takes to move a data function away from reactive ticket queues and towards a more autonomous operating model. As connected products generate increasingly rich streams of operational, product and user data, the role of data teams changes: from responding to requests, to enabling better decisions across the organisation.**
**Her session will look at the engineering, organisational and cultural shift behind data autonomy: how teams structure data work, prioritise internal demand, build trust in data products and move closer to the real systems they support.**
## **Africa Perianez - Designing AI for imperfect conditions**
**Africa Perianez is Co-founder and CEO of Causal Foundry, where she leads a team of engineers and AI scientists building reinforcement learning and personalisation technologies for real-world operational decision-making.**
**Her work focuses on adaptive AI infrastructure that supports decisions across healthcare, logistics, behavioural nudging, demand forecasting, stockout prevention and resource allocation. Causal Foundry works with global partners including the Gates Foundation, Google.org, GAVI, Lilly and Johnson & Johnson, applying AI in environments where decisions are complex, resources are constrained and impact matters.**
**In this talk, Africa will explore how AI systems move beyond prediction and dashboards into adaptive decision support. What does it take to build systems that can operate across changing contexts, local constraints and human behaviour? And how do you design AI that supports better decisions without pretending the real world is cleaner than it is?**
## **What’s In It For You?**
**Some of the most interesting work in AI today is not just about building more powerful models. It is about turning data, machine learning and decision intelligence into systems that people and organisations can actually use.**
**In this DeepTech Talks edition, Marta and Africa will explore two complementary sides of applied AI: how data teams become more autonomous inside complex organisations, and how adaptive AI systems support operational decisions in the real world.**
**You’ll hear about:**
* **How data teams move from reactive service models to autonomous data products**
* **What it takes to build AI systems that support operational decision-making**
* **How reinforcement learning and personalisation can be applied beyond consumer tech**
* **The gap between dashboards, predictions and decisions that actually change outcomes**
* **How technical teams work with messy real-world systems, constraints and stakeholders**
**Expect a grounded conversation about AI that becomes s part of how organisations sense, decide and act.**
## **Who Should Come?**
* **Data scientists, ML engineers and AI engineers**
* **Data leaders, analytics leaders and engineering managers**
* **Product leaders working with data-heavy or AI-enabled systems**
* **Deep tech founders and technical operators**
* **People working across healthtech, mobility, logistics, manufacturing or decision intelligence**
* **Anyone curious about how applied AI becomes operational infrastructure**
## **Extras**
**We’ll have food and drinks. 🍷🍕**
**Come ready to meet engineers, founders, esearchers, data leaders and technology builders working on the next generation of applied AI systems.**
**Spaces are limited, so grab your spot on Meetup while you can.**

**18:45 The Package Was Fine Yesterday: Why Your Dependencies Are a Security Risk - and What to Do About It**
Speaker: [Vitaly Baev](https://www.linkedin.com/in/vitaly-baev/), Senior Frontend Engineer @ Revolut
Every JS project relies heavily on third-party code. Some of it runs during install, some in CI, some inside the editor, and some with access to real credentials. This talk explains how recent supply-chain attacks abused that trust and what developers can do to reduce risk without stopping delivery.
**19:20 Under the hood: How V8 powers your JS apps (and why you should care)**
Speaker: [Gwyneth Rose](https://www.linkedin.com/in/gwyneth-rose/), Senior Engineer at Lodgify
You've transpiled your JavaScript, minified it, chunked it, and sent it to your CDN. But what happens when the code actually hits the browser? In this talk, we'll walk through the workings of V8, the JavaScript engine that powers Chromium-based browsers and Node.js. We'll focus on its JIT (just-in-time) compiler, how it learns about your code at runtime, and how it optimizes for performance as you use a web app. We'll also go over concrete techniques to make the JIT compiler's job easier, helping you stay in V8's fastest execution path.

Family Constellation Circle: Healing Family & Relationship Patterns
**Join our Telegram Channel– Siri Quantum:** [https://t.me/+6BN_YIxiSHY4ZjI8](https://t.me/+6BN_YIxiSHY4ZjI8)
**Wednesday July 1st · 6:30–9 pm**
**Facilitated by Ramon Perelló**
**Exploring hidden family patterns and relationship dynamics**
Many of the challenges we experience in relationships, work, or personal wellbeing are often connected to hidden dynamics within our family system.
Family Constellations offer a powerful experiential method to reveal these unconscious patterns and open space for understanding, healing, and new movement in our lives.
This **monthly 2.5-hour group session** provides a clear and grounded introduction to Family Constellations as a practical tool for exploring personal and relational dynamics in a respectful and supportive environment.
Through experiential group work, participants can observe how systemic and family patterns influence our lives — often without conscious awareness — and gain new perspectives that support integration and change.
## Topics often explored in constellations
• Relationship patterns and recurring conflicts
• Difficulties with parents or family members
• Feeling stuck in life or career
• Repeating emotional patterns
• Separation, divorce, or family conflict
• Belonging and identity within the family system
• Generational or ancestral patterns
• Personal direction and life decisions
## How the circle works
• Two participants will have the opportunity to constellate a personal topic
• Other participants take part as representatives (no previous experience required)
• Guided integration to support clarity and understanding
• A respectful and confidential group space that supports the process
Participants who will constellate will have a **brief pre-session call with the facilitator** to clarify their intention and understand the process.
This circle is suitable whether you wish to work on a personal topic, learn more about systemic dynamics, or simply observe the process in a professional group setting.
No previous experience is required.
## Contribution
• €60 – constellation work
• Representatives attend free of charge
Places are limited.

Stop prompting. Start building agents with criteria
**🔎The session:**
AI is already part of how we work, but most people are still using it as a chat or an autocomplete tool. The next step is moving from asking for help to letting AI actually do parts of the work for you. **That is where agents come in**.
In this session, we explore **how to build and use AI agents in a practical way using tools like GitHub Copilot, Agent Mode, MCP, and reusable skills**. The focus is not on complex architectures, but on what is useful in real day-to-day work.
We walk you through **what an AI agent is** and why it makes sense to use one instead of just prompts or simple automations. You will see how agents can reason, plan, and execute tasks across multiple steps, and how to apply patterns that already work in production.
We also look at **how this fits into your existing workflow**, especially in environments like VS Code, and **how agents can connect to real systems and data**. Real examples will show how to automate documentation, interact with data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, and create reusable workflows that save time.
The session also **covers common mistakes**, including overcomplicating solutions with too many agents, and how to keep things simple, controlled, and maintainable.
🎯**The goal is to give you a clear and practical understanding so you can start using agents in your own work without overengineering.**
👩💻**This session is for you if:**
* you are a developer working with code on a daily basis
* you use tools like VS Code, GitHub, or similar environments
* you are an engineer interested in improving productivity using AI beyond autocomplete
* you want to explore how to integrate AI agents into real workflows
-No prior experience with AI agents is required
-Basic understanding of development workflows is enough

Scientific Paper Reading: ICLR2026 Beyond Transformers & Multimodal Frontiers
**Scientific Paper Reading Club: Beyond Transformers & Multimodal Frontiers**
This is part of the scientific paper reading club.
This Saturday, we are expanding our horizons beyond standard LLMs! Following our recent discussions, we will be diving into points 3 and 5 from our reading list presentation: **Alternative architectures (SSM/RNN)** and **Multimodal foundation models**.
To make it even more exciting, we will be connecting these topics to some of the freshest breakthroughs presented at the recent ICLR conference ([https://iclr.cc/](https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&q=https%3A%2F%2Ficlr.cc%2F)).
**What to expect:**
Our presenter, Maxim Musin, will guide us through these two major frontiers in modern AI:
1. **Alternative Architectures (SSM/RNN):** Transformers are incredibly powerful, but their computational costs remain a massive bottleneck for long contexts. We will discuss why State Space Models (SSMs) like Mamba are emerging as the next big leap. We will look at fresh ICLR[[1](https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&q=https%3A%2F%2Fvertexaisearch.cloud.google.com%2Fgrounding-api-redirect%2FAUZIYQGC4niR9aCGjHBT9LMF4wz46OkiGKU9B7nghuo3OzbRQCWNy4fGizlUydBsvuhZgYay8Y31rCTrfquWnuEHjAibPui0IrBi71JMXQG59U0rk5DKa-hzJg%3D%3D)] insights, such as "Mamba-3: Improved Sequence Modeling using State Space Principles" [https://arxiv.org/abs/2603.15569](https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&q=https%3A%2F%2Farxiv.org%2Fabs%2F2603.15569) and "MambaSL: Exploring Single-Layer Mamba for Time Series Classification" [https://arxiv.org/abs/2604.15174](https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&q=https%3A%2F%2Farxiv.org%2Fabs%2F2604.15174)
2. **Multimodal Foundation Models:** We will explore how AI is learning to "think" natively across different continuous spaces and complex interactions. We will touch on standout ICLR papers like "Massively Multimodal Foundation Models: A Framework for Capturing Interactions with Specialized Mixture-of-Experts" [https://arxiv.org/abs/2509.25678](https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&q=https%3A%2F%2Farxiv.org%2Fabs%2F2509.25678) and "Theory of Space: Can Foundation Models Construct Spatial Beliefs through Active Exploration?" [https://arxiv.org/abs/2602.07055](https://www.google.com/url?sa=E&q=https%3A%2F%2Farxiv.org%2Fabs%2F2602.07055)
You don't need a heavy math background to join—Maxim will break down the intuition behind these complex architectures so that the core concepts are easy to follow for everyone.
**Meeting Details:**
🗣 **Presenter:** Maxim Musin
💬 **Language of the meeting:** English

Looking forward to a great discussion this Saturday!
Aparently there is no way of fixing meetup's markdown mess, sorry for this guys, just use your abstract imagination and experience with latech to read anouncement, this markdown render problem seem so be some kind of bug, i cleaned it in the redactor but with no effect, probably copying and pasting it clean into editor will solve it, but generating clean landing page with similar capabilities in claude code would also solve it in a way, so i didn't bother, see you at saturday

"Tusk Love" by Thea Guanzon
Come join us to discuss our July pick "Tusk Love" by Thea Guanzon!
Book description:
A merchant’s daughter who yearns for adventure gets more than she bargained for when she falls for a broodingly handsome stranger in this saucy romantasy from the New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars.
“A true delight of a book! Spicy and heartfelt—this one is a winner all around.”—Katee Robert, author of Neon Gods
As the daughter of an ambitious merchant, Guinevere’s path has been predetermined: marry into a noble house of the Dwendalian Empire, raise her family’s station, and live quietly as a lordling’s obedient wife. But Guinevere longs for a life unbounded by expectations, for freedom and passion and adventure.
Those distant dreams become a sudden reality when her caravan is beset by bandits, leaving her guards slain and Guinevere stranded alone on the dangerous Amber Road. Her only chance of survival is to travel alongside Oskar, the aloof half-orc who saved her during the attack.
Unlike Guinevere, Oskar’s path is not so set in stone. With his mother dead and his apprenticeship abandoned, all that’s left is a long, lonely walk to a land he’s never seen to find family he’s never met. The last thing he needs is a spoiled waif like Guinevere slowing him down—even if the spark between them sizzles with promise.
Despite his cold exterior, Oskar is brave and thoughtful and unlike anyone Guinevere has ever met. And while Guinevere may be sheltered, she brings out a softness in him that he has never dared to feel before. As the flames of their passion grow, they realize that soon they’ll need to choose between their expected destinations or their blossoming romance.
Written by New York Times bestselling author Thea Guanzon at the behest of Critical Role’s Jester Lavorre, Tusk Love brings the most romantic story on Exandrian bookshelves to life.

Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on.
That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable.
In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork.
This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it.
We’ll cover:
* Why “it looks good” is not enough
* How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints
* How to compare LLM outputs more systematically
* Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness
* How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results
* Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop
By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
