Stoic Training Session
Join us for a session based on Stoic philosophy. Through guided mental exercises and reflection, we'll put Stoic principles in practice. Suitable for all levels. This time, we will look at teachings by Seneca and Anthony de Mello.
Important to note: 1. Don't worry, it's not going to be too serious. We will fun, too! 2. We're deliberately a small group and we'll do activities in groups of 2-3 people. The idea is to make everyone as comfy as possible.
**Please bring: Pen and paper!**
**Location we meet at:**
In the 25h Hotel Zürich West (**NOT the 25h Hotel at Langstrasse**). When you enter the hotel, just walk 20m straight.
**For Stoics social events in general:**
Important: When you register for the event, please commit to it and **don't be a NO SHOW**. Presumably, when the old Stoics decided to go to an event, they kept to it ;)
We look forward to seeing you
Ink & Drink: words for loved ones 🫂 👯🧑🧑🧒🧒
✒️Ink & Drink is a creative writing evening in English, designed as a relaxed and social gathering around words, ideas, and a shared drink — in a warm, book-filled setting.
🫶With Valentine’s Day approaching, this special edition will explore love in its universal sense: romantic love, friendship, family, self-love, gratitude, or affection for someone who matters to you.
📚We’ll begin the evening with a short shared reading of a few carefully selected letter excerpts in English, meant simply as inspiration.
✍️This will be followed by a playful warm-up exercise to gently ease into writing — no pressure, no performance.
❤️The main part of the evening will be dedicated to writing a message or a letter to someone you care about.
You’ll be free to write something personal, poetic, simple, or symbolic — entirely at your own pace.
✂️A selection of creative materials will be available during the session (colored papers, different formats, pens, stickers, etc.), as well as the option to try simple paper folding to turn your text into a small crafted object or letter.
This is not a class and no prior writing experience is needed.
The focus is on creating a welcoming space where writing can happen naturally, supported by gentle prompts and shared inspiration.
☕️Participation is free — please support the venue by ordering at least one drink.
Whether you come to write, to reconnect with words, or simply to spend a creative evening before Valentine’s Day, you’re very welcome.
Looking forward to writing together! ✍️✨

ZH3 Hash #1708: Post Valentine Piss-up
Hare (someone to set the route) is One Night Wonder and Big Top. Come join us!
**Where**:
See location. Typically within Zurich Zone 10. Look for English speakers wearing running gear.
**When:**
We'll meet at 2:00 pm to start at 2:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.
**All Welcome:**
If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is.
• The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards.
**Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?**
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.
'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.*
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

Was fehlt, ist selten Gesprächsstoff.
Was fehlt, sind Tiefe, Spannung und echte Verbindung.
*Kostenloser Mini-Workshop*
**Von unverbindlichem Small Talk zu authentischer Anziehung**
📍 **Ort:** Debattierhaus Karl der Grosse, Kirchgasse 14, 8001 Zürich
📅 **Datum:** Samstag, 14. Februar 2026 (nachmittags)
👥 **Teilnehmerzahl:** max. 30 Personen

Manga Drawing Class: Valentine's Day KISS
Celebrate Valentine’s Day in a creative and unique way with our Manga Drawing Workshop, where we will learn how to illustrate romantic kissing scenes step by step. This 1.5-hour evening session is designed for everyone — whether you are picking up a pencil for the very first time or already have drawing experience. All skill levels are warmly welcome.
We begin with the fundamentals of manga drawing to build a strong foundation. You will learn how to construct faces, understand proportions, and create expressive eyes and gentle facial features. When it comes to romantic moments, subtle details make all the difference. With easy-to-follow techniques, you will discover how to capture tenderness, anticipation, and connection without feeling overwhelmed.
After the introduction, we will move on to the main focus of the workshop: drawing a manga kiss. Guided step by step, you will learn how to position two characters harmoniously, use perspective effectively, and add flowing hair to create a believable and dynamic scene. Along the way, you will receive practical tips that can be applied to many future drawings.
This workshop emphasizes a relaxed, supportive, and inspiring atmosphere. There is no pressure to be perfect — the goal is to enjoy the creative process, try something new, and leave feeling proud of what you created. You are encouraged to work at your own pace, and individual guidance will be provided whenever you need it.
All materials are included, so you can simply arrive, settle in, and start drawing. At the end of the evening, you will take your finished artwork home — perhaps as a meaningful keepsake or even as a heartfelt Valentine’s gift for someone special.
This experience is perfect for couples, friends, creative souls, or anyone looking to treat themselves to an artistic night out. Spend your evening surrounded by creativity, meet like-minded people, and immerse yourself in the romantic world of manga.
Whether your style turns out playful, sweet, or classically romantic, you will leave with a one-of-a-kind illustration that reflects your personal touch. Join us for a cozy Valentine’s afternoon and discover how beautiful it can be to express emotions through art.

Bad Girls Book Club February 2026
**Our February novel is: Julia by Sandra Newman**
**This month is a classic, dystopian, fiction, literary fiction, women’s fiction, and science fiction novel. The book is 394 pages in print and 14 hours and 20 minutes on audiobook.**
**An imaginative, feminist, and brilliantly relevant-to-today retelling of Orwell’s 1984, from the point of view of Winston Smith’s lover, Julia, by critically acclaimed novelist Sandra Newman.**
Julia Worthing is a mechanic, working in the Fiction Department at the Ministry of Truth. It’s 1984, and Britain (now called Airstrip One) has long been absorbed into the larger trans-Atlantic nation of Oceania. Oceania has been at war for as long as anyone can remember, and is ruled by an ultra-totalitarian Party, whose leader is a quasi-mythical figure called Big Brother. In short, everything about this world is as it is in Orwell’s 1984.
All her life, Julia has known only Oceania, and, until she meets Winston Smith, she has never imagined anything else. She is an ideal citizen: cheerfully cynical, always ready with a bribe, piously repeating every political slogan while believing in nothing. She routinely breaks the rules, but also collaborates with the regime when necessary. Everyone likes Julia.
Then one day she finds herself walking toward Winston Smith in a corridor and impulsively slips him a note, setting in motion the devastating, unforgettable events of the classic story. Julia takes us on a surprising journey through Orwell’s now-iconic dystopia, with twists that reveal unexpected sides not only to Julia, but to other familiar figures in the 1984 universe. This unique perspective lays bare our own world in haunting and provocative ways, just as the original did almost seventy-five years ago.
