Tell Your Story - Get Feedback!
Everyone has a story to tell.
Hong Kong Stories is here to help you shape and share your stories - be it epic fails or unlikely wins, heartbreaks or meet-cutes, moments of courage or quiet reflection.
No practice, no overthinking, just come and tell a story from your life, like you'd tell a friend. A seasoned coach from Hong Kong Stories will facilitate peer feedback to discover what makes your story awesome, and provide clear, actionable tips to help you tell it better.
📌 Story Requirements:
1. Your story must be true
2. It must be told in the first person—you are the main character
3. It should be no longer than 7 minutes (shorter stories are welcome!)
You don't need to have a completed or polished story ready -- just a beginning idea is okay.
This workshop is open to individuals at all levels, first-timers or old hands.
The purpose of Hong Kong Stories is to help you become a better storyteller.
Please update your RSVP, ideally 12 hours before the event if you're unable to make it.
Repeated no shows will be moved to not-going / removed from the group to open up slot for people on the waitlist.
Raw and Raunchy Comedy @ Fa Gai

(20-30s)港漂和香港本地人一起玩
People from the mainland andHong Kong and other place
Age 20 - Age 30 | Finding a place to slowly get to know each other**
I want to form a mixed-age small group.
Being 20 - 30 years old isn’t that different, but the way we see the world seems a bit different.
On weekends when we're free, let’s:
- Play board games | Not too serious, just have fun
- Discuss philosophy | Or just chat about random stuff
- Go hiking | Get some exercise and fresh air
- City walk | Just go wherever we feel like
- Or engage in other activities
There won’t be a fixed agenda, and we won’t engage in formality. I just want to meet people from different ages who resonate with each other.
Sign up on meet up and I will message you to let you join the group. There will be occasional activity notifications in the group.

Book Discussion: Empire of Pain: Secret History of Oxycontin
Unlike the usual BYOB format of this group, this is an **assigned reading format.** **You are expected to have read some of the book** to join the discussion :)
I am excited to finally read this book, its an award-winning, one of the most highly rated non fiction books across Goodreads/Amazon and for good reason!
About the book:
# A grand, devastating portrait of three generations of the Sackler family, famed for their philanthropy, whose fortune was built by Valium and whose reputation was destroyed by OxyContin. From the prize-winning and bestselling author of Say Nothing.
*"A real-life version of the HBO series Succession with a lethal sting in its tail…a masterful work of narrative reportage.*” – Laura Miller, Slate
“*The opioid epidemic has killed nearly half a million Americans over the past two decades. Many of their loved ones, along with public health advocates and experts, believe that one very rich, very famous family has never fully faced the consequences for its role in those deaths. EMPIRE OF PAIN, the explosive new book by journalist Patrick Radden Keefe, is an attempt to change that — to hold the family accountable in a way that nobody has quite done before...*” —Jonathan Cohn, The Washington Post
Note:
* **location subject to change** but we'll keep it around Wan Chai District.
* You **must** buy something at the venue.
* **First timer attendees** are requested to contribute 20HKD to fund the Meetup Group Subscription.
* No-Shows make the host sad (please update your attendance)
GAP (Graduates & Professional) Toastmasters Club meeting
Dear Toastmasters & guests,
*Theme of the meeting: “Pet Economy”

Do you want to **improve your communication skills (both speaking and listening) in English** in your daily life?
We have *prepared and impromptu speeches* in English during the meeting. **Evaluation** of the speeches will be given so that the speakers can *improve* their speeches continuously.
Do come and enjoy the warm atmosphere and have a wonderful learning experience together with us!
**All are welcome. *No guest fee is required.***
**See you then!**

Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
• What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at noon on Sundays.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
12:00 - quick intros.
12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
• What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
