Quiz Nights

Nice turnout last Monday, with 12 people coming. Nice to see Danny back playing after an extended travel absence! It was a bit noisy due to a concurrent pub quiz in Russian and Ukranian, but I was told that they are meeting every two weeks, so we'll switch up our schedule to avoid them and meet next Monday. Hope we can keep up the momentum this coming Monday! Please note that the bar/restaurant expects us to buy food and/or drinks as patrons of the establishment. All levels of backgammon skill are welcome, including beginners! We offer free lessons to people who are interested in learning. People with experience can play friendly matches among each other.

Hi there everybody! We invite you all to come enjoy Peng Chau island to our next movie night on 22th of March. This time we will watch our first Ecuadorian movie. We have chosen two movies from Ecuador, one short and another longer. The first short is called 'Willkawiwa (The Sacred Fire of the Dead) (2022)' from director Pavés Quevedo Ullauri. The second long movie is called 'Ozogoche' (2023) from director Joe Houlberg: Cuviví is the Ecuadorean indigenous name for the upland sandpiper, a wading bird that has special significance for the communities living around the Ozogoche lakes in the middle of the Andes. The movie will have English subtitles. If you want to watch a Ecuadorian movie for the first time come and enjoy! We will start the movie at 7pm till 9pm in a terrace in Peng Chau. There is a ferry at 5:50pm from Central Pier N6 and arrives in Peng Chau at 6:30pm. I can meet people at the pier at 6:30pm. Or if you want to spend the day in Peng Chau and meet each other afterwards that's also fine! Please let me know if you are coming beforehand so we can prepare for us to meet and take you to the address. We want to encourage discussion about the movie and its theme afterwards. Join us for a night of board gaming with FANG (Fem All Night Gaming). **We are an all fem board game group** in Columbus, Ohio. No cis-men, please! We play modern hobby board games! If you're unsure what that is, we can teach you! We'll be meeting on the second floor of Giant Eagle in their cafe area. Giant Eagle has a lot of food and beverage options including their hot foods bars. You are also welcome to bring in any outside food.

A fun way to compare wines from two different countries at a time. House Wine is squaring off two countries' wines against each other each Thursday in March. March 12, March 19, March 26, and the Finals April 2nd. Meet and Greet format....show up after 7pm, pay your $15 at the cash register, get your wine glass, and enjoy. I will get a table reserved for the group. Remember, you may bring in your own food or takeout. Attendance is your agreement to the Group's Waiver of Liability terms. Parking is tough at House Wine; there is a municipal lot one-half block north of the shop and sometimes parking at the lot behind Jet Pizza, accessed by the lane between the east House Wine parking lot and the residence to the east.

The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. There is a parking lot behind the neighboring Mexican restaurant that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.
