ZH3 Hash # 1695: New Year's De-Volutions. Whip It!
ZH3 Hash # 1695: New Year's De-Volutions. Whip It!
Hares are Chainsaw & Lazmo Mr. Scum If you haven't already broken your resolutions for 2026 by Saturday, come along to our HHH and let us help you out of your good intentions. This will be an A-to-A run, starting and ending at our house, followed by an Apero thingee... which is French for "pretending to be elegant about drinking". Doggies welcome, try not to scare our cat. Can you, Should you, bring something or other? Sure, why not. **Update #1:** At 5pm or so, **Black Udder** and **Africa** will lead a **coalition of the billing** to a nearby pizza restaurant for dinner. Meanwhile, me & other **guarders of the fort** will remain at the venue to drink beers and maybe order out for pizza or somethings or not or whatevers. Decide on the spot, because my RSVP secretary is still on vacation. **Update #2:** xx-Obsolete => My dear spog **Down-Down Abi** has volunteered to co-hare a simultaneous **HHHorrors** trail. So once again, we mix big folks and little 'uns. (**Obviously Anna** has theater rehearsal all afternoon, thus we see her later.) <= xx-Obsolete **Update #3:** Due to impending snow storms, the HHHorrors trail will be mutiplexed (overlapped) with the walkers trail, co-hared by Black Udder. Pram friendly! Mommy-friendly! **Where**: At the hare's hutch in Adliswil. See location. **When:** We'll meet at 13:50 pm to start at 14:00 pm. There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards. **All Welcome:** If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk trash, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know: • We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful. • The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun. • 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further. • The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time. • There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change. • **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards. **Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?** If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it. 'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.* We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups. Columbus HUG January: Learn Infrastructure-as-Code Through Minecraft
## Learn Infrastructure-as-Code (the FUN Way) — Through Minecraft 🎮☁️ **Joint Meetup: Azure CBUS × Columbus HashiCorp User Group** What if learning Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code didn’t feel like a whitepaper… but more like a game? Join us for a joint Azure CBUS and Columbus HashiCorp User Group meetup where **Mark Tinderholt** \(Principal Architect\, Microsoft Azure \| HashiCorp Ambassador \| “The Azure Terraformer”\) shows how **Minecraft** can be used as a surprisingly powerful way to understand real-world Infrastructure-as-Code concepts. In this session, Mark will demonstrate how Terraform and Azure can be used to provision, configure, and manage Minecraft servers—while teaching the same patterns you’d use for production cloud infrastructure. ### What we’ll cover * Infrastructure-as-Code fundamentals using **Terraform** * Provisioning real infrastructure on **Azure** * Applying **IaC best practices** (immutability, repeatability, versioning) * How playful environments like Minecraft make complex concepts *click* * Why learning through experimentation beats click-ops every time ### Who should attend * Developers, platform engineers, and cloud engineers * Terraform users (new or experienced) * Anyone curious about Infrastructure-as-Code but tired of boring examples * Minecraft fans who want to see it used in a totally unexpected way No prior Minecraft experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn infrastructure the fun way. Come for the blocks, stay for the Terraform. 🧱➡️📐 Want to be a speaker? submit your talk to our Call for Presenters!!! https://sessionize.com/cbus-hug-2026/
