🌞 Eat, Drink, Dip & Coast — Summer Social Ride to Point Ormond - 22km return
🌞 Eat, Drink, Dip & Coast — Summer Social Ride to Point Ormond - 22km return
**🌞 Eat, Drink, Dip & Coast — Summer Social Ride along the beach to Point Ormond - 22km Return** A breezy, cheeky, sun‑kissed roll along Melbourne’s waterfront Ready to flirt with summer? We’re taking our wheels, our wit, and our warm‑weather charm on a coastal cruise from the Skyline Ferris Wheel at South Wharf all the way to Point Ormond — with beach dips, café temptations, and plenty of banter stops to keep things loose (especially my muscles, which will absolutely need it). **🚲 Meet & Greet (and maybe a cheeky pre‑ride coffee) 10:15 a.m. — Arrive early** at the Skyline Ferris Wheel, right next to the Love Café by the Exhibition Centre. We'll leave by 10.30 a.m. Grab a snack, sip something energising, and warm up your social muscles. 10:30 a.m. — We roll out. Smooth, slow, and social. **🌊 The Route: Waterfront flirtation** We’ll glide along the cycleway to Beacon Cove, then follow the coastline past Port Melbourne, hugging the bay all the way to St Kilda and finally Point Ormond. It’s about 11 km each way — a breezy 22 km return — and absolutely not a race. Think: leisurely cruising, sunshine, sea breeze, and the occasional “wait, look at that view” pause. 🩱 Swim Optional… but highly encouraged if it’s hot If the day turns steamy, we’re making a splash. Bring towel + bathers if you’re feeling brave, beachy, or both. **☕ Lunch & Swim Stop — Group Choice** We’ll hit the café‑rich stretch around St Kilda for our mystery lunch decision point. The group decides where we land — café, swim, or both. Add an extra hour if we settle in for food or a dip. **🕒 Timing** Expect around 3 hours of rolling and chatting, plus optional extra time for lunch/swim indulgence **💬 Vibe** Light. Flirty. Inclusive. A summer ride with a wink — perfect for loosening up, meeting new people, and letting the coastline do its magic. **👍Requirements** Make sure your bike works and is capable of doing 22km return. Bonus if you can do it as well lol! Bike helmet and Bike Lock **Optional** Consider getting RACV Bike assist insurance. Only $23.50 per year that covers bike repair, or if you need repair and transport and can't finish the ride. Download their Arevo bike navigation app which contains the discount code. Beach towel and bathers (thongs) if an ocean dip is on the cards If you need a bike rental consider [Blue Tongue Bikes](https://bluetonguebikes.com.au/), just across the river at Batman Park, next to King St.

How to build meaningful connection: Powerful Questions Masterclass
Do you walk away from small talk feeling drained, overstimulated, or bored out of your mind?… 😵‍💫💤 …but when you find someone you can go deep with, suddenly you can talk for hours and feel more energised than when you started? ⚡💬 Does this rarely happen, such that you'd love to be skilled so when the opportunity comes up again - you want to be ready to make it meaningful? Then welcome — this workshop is designed exactly for you. 🤝🌟 **Ideal for:** * Neurodivergent adults (Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD) who want real connection, not surface noise 🧠💛 * People frustrated by dating-app banter or repetitive first-date conversations that never go anywhere * Anyone who wants friendships or relationships with substance, emotion, and depth * Those wanting to learn attunement, presence, and powerful question skills that make conversations richer and more engaging 🔍👂💡 This session is for people who want conversations that feel alive, honest, and energising — not draining. ⚡🔋 **Why Powerful Questions Matter** Researchers like **David Clutterbuck** found that a “powerful question” can shift the direction of someone’s thinking — helping them reflect, feel, and reveal things that actually matter. The best questions are personal, resonant, emotionally impactful, non-judgmental, and clear. They go beyond information-gathering… and into insight. [Click here to What makes a Powerful Question.](https://clutterbuck-cmi.com/blogs/what-makes-a-powerful-question/#:~:text=Based%20on%20analysis%20of%20hundreds,the%20heart%20of%20the%20issue) When you ask these kinds of questions with empathy, curiosity, and presence, conversations naturally become deeper, more authentic, and far more energising than small talk ever could. ✅ **What You’ll Learn** * What makes a question “powerful” and why it changes the conversation * A starter toolkit of powerful questions for dates, friendships, and real-life social moments * How to listen in a way that makes people *feel safe* to open up * How to read emotional cues and attune to the other person * How to hold space without fixing, pushing, or interrupting * Real-time practice with rotating partners * Feedback and reflection to strengthen your skills * A chance to share your social challenges so future sessions can be tailored to you 🔄 **How the Session Flows** * Warm welcome + safety setup * What actually makes a question powerful (mini-teach) * Sample toolkit + why these questions work * Paired practice rounds (fun, safe, structured) * Group reflection: What surprised you? What opened something? * Optional deeper practice round * Quick feedback survey * Closing + practical next steps 💡 **Example Powerful Questions You Can Use** * **1.** *What shaped you into who you are today?* **2.** *What matters most to you right now?* * **3**. *What* is **most hard** about *(x challenge)*? **4.** *What does success look like for you?* **5.** *What are you wanting or needing that you rarely talk about?* **6.** *What moments make you feel most alive or seen?* **7.** *What drains your social energy?* * **8.** *(Followup) What restores it?* **9.** *What’s one thing you’d love to change about how you connect with people?* These questions help you move from shallow chat… to meaningful dialogue, and thus connection.

Join us for our first meeting of 2026, the Seventeenth Page! Theme: novellas. Happy New Year! To start us off for the year, we're taking some of the pressure off. Novellas are typically within the 70 to 160 page range, but I would say as long as it's under 200 pages it qualifies. Feel free to bring along any discussion questions you can think of or theme suggestions. Happy reading :) See you there!

Session Abstract **Data on Fire: A Hands-On Intro to Spark in Fabric** Curious about Apache Spark but not sure where to start? This hands-on session introduces you to Spark in Microsoft Fabric Notebooks—a powerful and accessible way to process and analyze big data using familiar tools in the Microsoft ecosystem. We’ll break down key Spark concepts like distributed computing, DataFrames, and lazy evaluation, then show how they come to life inside Fabric’s notebook experience. You’ll see practical demos that cover loading, transforming, and analyzing large datasets—while leveraging Fabric’s modern data stack, including OneLake, Dataflows, and Pipelines. You’ll also learn how to choose between Spark and pure Python notebooks in Fabric, based on execution needs, data integration, and use case fit. Whether you're a SQL pro, BI developer, or data engineer, this session will give you the tools and confidence to start using Spark in your own projects—no cluster management required. \*Please note, that we will be using Microsoft Teams for the online portion of this meeting. You may want to join a few minutes early to ensure you do not have any issues. If you are attending in person, there are large TVs at the office, and you do not need to bring a laptop or use Teams.

Ms. Tregar is the co-author with John de Lancie (the actor who portrayed the character Q on Star Trek next generation) of a radio play depicting the events surrounding the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District trial. The trial decided the issue of some of the Dover school district board members attempting to insert creationism disguised as "intelligent design" into the 9th grade biology curriculum. She will discuss the trial and the process of writing the play. (Bob Leonhard has seen the play and it is riveting and tense). Ms. Tregar's bio is below: Kristen Tregar is a dramaturg, director, playwright, and theatre teacher. She earned her Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre from the UC San Diego and UC Irvine joint program. In addition, she has a MS in Forensic Science from City University of New York- John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a MA in Educational Theatre from New York University- Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. In 2013, in collaboration with Irish colleagues, she founded *The Ireland Project*, an intercontinental devised theatre work with high school students in New York and Tallaght, Ireland. Her original short story "Far From Here" was recently published in *Stay Awhile Longer: More Scenes From Temecula Valley*. She has two rescued dogs (Kira and Harry) and she rides, competes, and foxhunts with her horses, Andromache and Baker Street Irregular. Food and drinks will be provided at the event.
