Help wanted & help offered. Bi-weekly meetings (every two weeks). Language English/Dutch.
This idea is inspired by Barbara Sher's story and experiences. Please see her Ted Talk titled "Isolation is the dream-killer, not your attitude".
The idea in short: One person at a time tells the group his/her dream or aim and the obstacles they face to achieve it.
It could be a trip, an experience, a change of career, an undertaking of some kind, learning a skill, solving a particular problem or even finding out what you really want.
The group works to realise the person's aim. Not just theoretically, also practically. For this we use our experience and networks.
—Nothing as satisfying as helping another! Perhaps suitable, Gabor Mate's words: "You never heal alone."
Please contact me at [galatv@protonmail.com](mailto:galatv@protonmail.com) if you have questions or would like to help me to organise these gatherings.
Thank you!

[Arnhem] English subs: Dreams (Drømmer) (2024)
#This meetup is around a third-party organizer (Focus Filmtheater): you can either purchase your ticket online or right before the session#
**Title**: Dreams (Drømmer)
**Language**: Norwegian
**Subtitles**: English
**Length**: 111 min
**Director**: Dag Johan Haugerud
**More info**: https://www.focusarnhem.nl/agenda/english-subs-dreams-drommer
**Ticket link**: https://www.focusarnhem.nl/tickets/140391
**Synopsis**:
When high school student Johanne falls deeply in love with her French teacher, she decides to document her feelings and experiences in a diary. *Dreams* is the third and final installment of the Norwegian trilogy *Sex*, *Dreams* (*Drømmer*), and *Love* (*Kjærlighet*), about love and sexuality (all films can be watched seperately). This film was the winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.
After Johanne has essentially written a novel about her feelings and experiences with her French teacher, she decides to let her grandmother read it, desperate for someone to know about it. Her grandmother is so impressed with the literary qualities of the book that she wants to get it published, being a poet herself. She shows the book to Johanne’s mother, but instead of being impressed like her grandmother, she is concerned with whether the graphically described scenes between Johanne and her teacher actually took place or not. While the three women discuss the contents of the book and whether to publish it, Johanne tries to get a grip on her romantic fantasies.
**How it works**:
I will be at Focus around 18:30, where we can meet before the movie starts. You can message me to find us. Screening starts at 19:00. After the movie, we can have a drink together.
Hope to see you soon!

Travel by your own OV-chipkaart.
Contribution: €3,- pp (to help maintain our Meetup page).
\**Train delays and cancellations could affect the meetup time in Tilburg. If this is the case, it will be announced in the discussion chat of this event page.*
***
**City walk, Free time & Sterrentocht**
This event consists partly of a group walk in the city center of Tilburg and partly of offering free time. The group walk is at a slow pace so you can connect with others, while enjoying the scenery of the city and taking photos along the way. In case of bad weather: bring an umbrella! After about 75 minutes, free time starts: we’ll check in if people like to continue our group walk or if there are other ideas to do in the city. For instance going to a museum, a café, do photography or anything else. If we continue our walk it will be at the same pace, we’ll go to new areas and if there’s enough interest we’ll go for a coffee in between. At 17:00 we’ll stop hosting the event, but on this day the Sterrentocht is organized in Tilburg, starting at 17:00 @Willemsplein. This is a real recommendation if you like light, arts and Dutch cultural events.
**Meetup in Arnhem & Tilburg**
This event has a meetup in Arnhem (11:40) and Tilburg (13:00), as described above. If you're joining us in Arnhem, you have to use your own OV-chipkaart. Tip: check [ns.nl/reisplanner](http://ns.nl/reisplanner) on the day itself to be in time at either meetup spot! For car users, I suggest checking the official municipality website to find parking spaces and what fares apply. U&R is originally based in Arnhem, but invites people from anywhere to join our travels.
**Sign-up: RSVP on Meetup or Google Forms**
Sign up for this event by RSVP here on Meetup or sign up via Forms: [https://forms.gle/C6JCCUH68X7QbQtV7](https://forms.gle/C6JCCUH68X7QbQtV7). Everyone is asked to pay a 3 euro contribution to help us maintain our costs on Meetup. This is refundable if U&R cancels the event or reschedules it to a different day, or if you cancel 72 hours before the meetup. Hope to see you in Tilburg!

New Year's 🥂 together with Flutter Netherlands
Let's kick off 2026 together! 🎉
For the first time, **Dutch AUG** and **Flutter Netherlands** are teaming up for a New Year's drinks meetup 🥂
Join us at **Quignon in Utrecht** on **Friday, January 9th, from 17:00 to 20:00** — perfect for dropping by after work. This won't be your typical talks-and-pizza night, just good company, a few drinks, and a chance to start the new year with others from the community.
Both groups share a lot of common ground — we're all building mobile apps, often with the same tools, and powered by Google technologies. So a joint event mixing the communities felt like a fun way to start the year!Everyone gets a few drinks on us to start the evening, plus some snacks to share. After that, it's pay-as-you-drink at the bar. 🍻
Space is 80 people in total, shared across both meetup groups. So with 40 per group, be quick! If this event fills up here, check the other group's Meetup page to sign up there instead:
* [Dutch AUG](https://www.meetup.com/nl-nl/dutch-aug/)
* [Flutter Netherlands](https://www.meetup.com/flutter-holland/) (using Flutter Holland meetup page)
Please note: You only have to register **once**!
We're excited to toast the new year, catch up with familiar faces, and welcome new ones. See you at [Quignon](https://share.google/C7EWVghYtd0h2abPy)!
**NOTE:**
Please drink responsibly. If you come by car, think of the limit, try some alcohol free versions or arrange a taxi or carpool. Best is of course public transport. For people by car in general: there are several Q-parks in Utrecht, but ParkBee is also a good option.

**F.A.Q.**
*Do you guys play in English?*
* **No,** we play the game in Dutch.
1. Stokbrood met smeersels (kruidenboter, hummus, aioli)
2. Gezonde frisse snacks (snoeptomaatjes, komkommer, druiven, mandarijntjes, wortel)
3. Chips, koekjes, brownies
4. Of duik de keuken in en bak je favoriete baksel.

Intro to GitHub Copilot: Your AI Pair Programmer - Chris Steele
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is rapidly changing how developers write, understand, and maintain code. Powered by generative AI and deeply integrated into modern development environments, Copilot acts as an intelligent coding assistant, helping developers move faster while maintaining quality and focus.
In this session, we’ll explore what GitHub Copilot is, how it works, and where it fits into a real-world developer workflow. We’ll break down what Copilot can (and cannot) do, where it can be used, and how licensing differs for individuals and organizations. Most importantly, this talk goes beyond theory with a live, hands-on demo showcasing Copilot inside the IDE and on GitHub, demonstrating how it can assist with code generation, refactoring, learning new APIs, and accelerating day-to-day development tasks.
Designed for developers, technical leads, and engineering managers, this session provides a practical introduction to AI-assisted development, highlights best practices for getting value from Copilot, and closes with guidance on how to continue learning and evolving alongside this rapidly advancing tool.
Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how GitHub Copilot can enhance productivity, improve developer experience, and fit into modern software teams today, not someday.
