### đŹ About Sunday Vacations
We bring together open-minded people from all over the world through shared experiences, from hikes to cultural events and international trips đ
Come as strangers, leave as friends â¨
Geopolitics/GĂŠopolitique/ÚŘŚŮŮžŮŰŘŞŰÚŠ/ĐоОпОНиŃика/×××פ×××××ק×
This is a **recurring weekly gathering** of open-minded people who want to understand geopolitics **without confirmation bias**.
We are not here to repeat talking points, defend camps, or feel morally validated.
We are here to **listen, compare perspectives, and learn** â especially from people who come from, live in, or are directly affected by the regions being discussed.
Each week, we look at **current and long-term geopolitical issues**, including conflicts rarely covered or oversimplified by Western media.
**Topics We Cover**
Our discussions focus on **current and long-term geopolitical issues**, including conflicts rarely covered or oversimplified by Western media, sovereignty, and reality as it is, not as it is marketed. We approach geopolitics and society from a realist, sovereignty-first perspective, skeptical of globalist ideology and media **groupthink**. The aim is to understand interests, incentives, history, law, and consequences â not to rehearse fashionable outrage.
**Examples of topics we regularly examine include:**
**1\. Venezuela & Cuba**
Sanctions, regime survival, sovereignty, and how U.S. policy, energy interests, and regional power dynamics shape outcomes in Latin America â beyond Cold War clichĂŠs.
**2\. Ukraine\, Cyprus & European Borders**
Frozen conflicts, divided territories, and how international law is selectively applied when sovereignty clashes with strategic interests.
**3\. Iran\, Gaza\, Syria & Lebanon**
The Middle East beyond slogans: proxy wars, regional balances, sectarian fault lines, sanctions, militias, state collapse, and why Western media framing often obscures long-term realities.
**4\. Congo \(DRC\) & Resource Wars**
How minerals, supply chains, and foreign interests fuel instability in Africa â and why some of the deadliest conflicts on earth barely make the news.
**5\. Taiwan\, Greenland & Strategic Geography**
Why islands, trade routes, chokepoints, and remote territories matter enormously in a multipolar world â and how geography shapes power more than ideology ever will.
**What Makes This Different**
â We prioritize **voices from affected regions**: Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia
â We examine **what Western media doesnât tell, doesnât show, or doesnât contextualize**
â We welcome **new ideas, uncomfortable facts, and disagreement**
â We focus on power, interests, culture, history, economics â not slogans
**This is not a safe space for ideology.**
**It *is* a safe space for honest thinking.**
In Brussels, there are already debate initiatives that offer structured discussions. Too often, however, a small circle curates skewed propositions and narrows the range of acceptable conclusions, turning moderation into gatekeeping .
There are also plenty of spaces dedicated to repeating anti-American slogans or reducing complex geopolitics to partisan outrage. This forum is not one of them.
Our approach is different. **We welcome genuine diversity of opinion and lived experience.** No one here will be cancelled, banned, or shamed for challenging dominant narratives. Ideas are debated openly; personal attacks and defamation are not tolerated.
**Motions & Proposals Welcome**
We actively encourage participants to propose motions for debate.
If you suggest a motion, please do so with substance: a clear claim, basic historical or legal grounding, and an understanding of the stakes involved. Motions designed to provoke thinking are welcome; motions designed to score points or repeat media talking points are not.
**Languages**
The language of discussion will depend on the participants present.
Debates are typically held in English and French, but we are comfortable switching or accommodating other languages when the moderation team can support it.
Languages we can currently handle include:
â English
â French
â Dutch
â Spanish
â Italian
â Russian
â Farsi
The goal is understanding, not linguistic purity. When needed, participants may clarify or translate key points to ensure everyone can follow the discussion.
If you speak more than one language, thatâs an asset here
### **What We Ask of Participants**
â Come to understand, not to perform or âwinâ
â Be genuinely open to **new ideas and perspectives**, especially those that challenge your own
â Speak from **knowledge**, not slogans â history, law, and context matter
â If you bring a topic, come prepared: facts, timelines, sources, and legal or historical grounding are encouraged
â Argue **ideas**, never individuals
â No censorship of viewpoints
â No personal attacks
â No defamation or accusations against individuals
**Strong disagreement is not only accepted â it is expected.**
**Intellectual laziness is not.**
**This is not a dating meetup.**
Not every social space exists for flirting, hitting on people, or testing romantic opportunities.
Anyone who treats this forum as a dating pool, approaches others with unwanted advances, or assumes participation implies romantic availability is misunderstanding the purpose of this group.
Conversation comes first. Ideas come first. Respect comes first.
If you are here primarily to date, pursue, or pressure others, this is not the right space for you.
Boundaries are enforced. Discomfort is taken seriously.
**Those who ignore this will be immediately asked to leave.**
**Location & RSVP**
The event will take place in Ixelles, in a public bar.
To keep the discussion safe, focused, and accountable, the exact venue will be shared only with confirmed RSVPs via our WhatsApp chat.
Depending on the final size of the group, we have several appropriate and secure venue options in the area.
This allows us to:
â Adapt the venue to the group size
â Avoid disruptive or bad-faith behavior common to fully open meetups
â Prevent meetup creeps and repeat offenders
â Ensure everyone present respects the rules of conduct
đ To RSVP and receive the location:
The goal is not exclusivity, but accountability and quality of discussion.
If this format doesnât suit you, this event may not be the right fit.

Parent Meetup: Traveling Families Club
Are you a parent living in the Leuven area wanting to connect with other parents? This event is made for you!
Planning travel with kids can be overwhelming, and often isolating. So Gabi and Javi want to invite you to the IHL to exchange real-life experiences and ideas to help lighten the load.
Many families want to travel more, but donât know where to begin. Hearing from other parents can be the spark they need. When families travel together (or even just plan alongside others), it becomes a richer, more social experience for both parents and kids. Kids make friends. Parents make friends. Everyone feels more confident, connected, and inspired.
**What to expect:**
* Chat about recent trips and upcoming plans
* Ask questions and offer advice in an informal setting
* Share tips, photos, and funny stories
* Get ideas for future destinations and practical planning
* Travel gear tips, suggestions, testing/swapping
* Connect with other travel-loving parents over a coffee, tea, or snack
These meetups are meant to be low-pressure, drop-in friendly, and grounded in community, not structure.
We will have free coffee, water, and tea as well as the honesty bar (where everything is 2âŹ).
**About the volunteers:**
Weâre the couple behind *Little Chicken Studio*, a playful family travel channel built around traveling with our three young children. We create easy-to-follow, kid-friendly travel itineraries and share tips with a global audience. Now, weâd love to bring that energy and connection to our local community here in Leuven.

We will start at the Tervuren Station (terminus of Tram 44). Weâll begin by walking through the formal gardens and ponds of Tervuren Park, enjoying the open views and the sunset light reflecting on the water.
From there, we will dive into the Sonian Forest (ZoniĂŤnwoud), walking under the canopy of the majestic beech cathedrals. The path will lead us gently downhill towards the historic Rouge CloĂŽtre (Rood Klooster), a 14th-century Augustinian priory nestled on the edge of the forest.

* The Walk: We depart at 15:00 sharp.
* The End: We aim to arrive at Rouge CloĂŽtre around 18:00.

Dutch Limburg (Maastricht to VisĂŠ, 26km)
On Sunday I am organizing a hike in Dutch Limburg. We will start on the outskirts of Maastricht for a hike along rolling hills. This area is known from the cycling event "Amstel Gold Race". We will mainly walk on unpaved roads and cross a couple of forests. Halfway we enter Belgium again. After walking 1km through Flanders we continue along Walloon territory, to finish in VisĂŠ. This town has a good choice of bars to finish our hike with a beer or two.
As the number of participants is limited, it is important that you manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you canât (this also goes for people on the waiting list!). We will try to keep close to an average speed of about 5 km/h. We will walk mainly on unpaved roads. Iâve not tested this track beforehand, so itâs possible that there are some mistakes in the planning.
ââYou can find the track here:
https://loc.wiki/t/252972128?wa=sc
ââMeeting point:
We meet at 10h42 in Maastricht-Randwijck. **IMPORTANT: this is not the main railway station in Maastricht!** If you start from Brussels, the best option is to take train IC507 from Schaarbeek to Eupen at 9h12. **IMPORTANT: this weekend there are no direct trains to Eupen from Brussels-South, Central or North.** I am coming from Ghent, so I will be on that train already. You can find me in the first car of the train. In Liege-Guillemins you have ten minutes to change. You should take train S43 towards Aachen Hbf at 10h08. **IMPORTANT: make sure that you take the correct train to Aachen HbF, because there are two trains going that direction.** Make sure that you get out at Maastricht-Randwijck. This is not the main railway station.
ââ Train tickets:
Return ticket Brussels-Maastricht should be fine. This journey involves a border crossing.
ââ Back to Brussels:
In VisĂŠ there is one train per hour back to Brussels, with a change in Liege.
ââ Specifics:
Distance: ca 26km
Elevation gain: 300m
Net walking time: ca 5-6h
Weather forecast: Dry and 17 degrees!
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, we may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, we will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the [[[[[[[Meetup.com](http://meetup.com/)]([http://meetup.com/](http://meetup.com/))]([http://meetup.com/](http://meetup.com/))]([http://meetup.com/](http://meetup.com/))]([http://meetup.com/](http://meetup.com/))]([http://meetup.com/](http://meetup.com/))]([http://meetup.com/](http://meetup.com/)) website and/or your emails.
ââ What to bring:
* Comfortable hiking clothes &shoes
* rain gear (just in case)
* water + food for the breaks
* sun cream
* Compeed for blisters
* some small money for drinks
ââ Basic rules:
Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse.
Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the âgoingâ list. People with the "go-with-the-flow" label are only moved from the waitlist 24 hours before the hike. I give you the label "go-with-the-flow" if you did not show up in one of my hikes before, or if you canceled for one of these hikes less than 24 hours in advance.
ââ Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability:
You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability. Moreover, the organisers aren't tour operators, so they don't feel obliged to answer to every text message or email!

Free In-Person Meeting: Get Over Losses & Betrayals, Build Lasting Relationships
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to âpin the blameâ on someone or something. If you donât find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, donât know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe youâve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
⢠How to âeraseâ the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isnât always repeating past mistakes.
⢠Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
⢠Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
⢠Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
⢠Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
⢠What underlies âcorrosive criticismâ or the need to invalidate self or others?
⢠How one can stably change oneâs outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
⢠Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
⢠How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
⢠How to enhance oneâs own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or oneâs career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are âstoredâ and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can âeraseâ those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become âtoxicâ personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you wonât be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
We look forward to having you join us!
This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup (2nd Tues)
Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room.
This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us.
COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
***
Did you know that there are atheists everywhere?!?! You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'!
Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life.
Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio.
Social meetings held most Tuesdays at a local pub/restaurant at 7:00 PM (and often into the wee hours). Attendees call themselves agnostics, skeptics, humanists, non-theists, deists or even theists. All attendees are welcome but should support our vision.
Atheists of Columbus (AoC) is part of Omnipresent Atheists (OA). AoC members are invited to join this OA meetup and/or OA Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/omnipresentatheists/ ) but are free to continue conversations on the AoC Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/columbusatheists/ ). AoC was founded in 2012 as a networking, social group for Central Ohio area humanists, skeptics, atheists, agnostics, nonbelievers, freethinkers, and the curious. It was a member of Columbus CoR and held weekly meetings, mostly on Fridays, for several years but then operated as an online only group for some time. In November 2018, Omnipresent Atheists (OA), a group that routinely meets on Tuesdays, invited AoC to merge.
Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason (ColumbusCoR.org). Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason ( http://www.ColumbusCoR.org ). Omnipresent Atheists endorses the mission of the Secular Coalition for America ( http://secular.org ).
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association:
They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other churchâstate issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEAâs early wins and hard lessons, what weâre seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape â and practical ways to get involved.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. We meet in the bar in the room on the right (the cigar shop).
