Inclusive Grief Circle: Honouring Loss Through Ceremony, Community & Creativity
Inclusive Grief Circle: Honouring Loss Through Ceremony, Community & Creativity
Read reviews from past participants [here](https://www.greenhousecreativesanctuary.com/inclusivegrief) “Grief has never been private, it has always been communal. Subconsciously, we are awaiting the presence of others, before we can feel safe enough to drop to our knees on the holy ground of sorrow. For the most part, grief is not a problem to be solved, not a condition to be medicated, but a deep encounter with an essential experience of being human. Grief becomes problematic when the conditions needed to help us work with grief are absent.” - Francis Weller Our primary association with grief is the loss of a loved one but there are so many kinds of losses that don't have formal ceremonies that are important to honour. Unprocessed grief can accumulate in weight, dulling our senses and capacity for aliveness. This is a safe, supportive space for all shapes, sizes and textures of grief- for the loss of our loved ones, for the childhood we did not get to have, for the parts of ourselves that have been rejected and exiled, for friendships and relationships with ambiguous endings, for homes and communities we are distanced from and miss, for the suffering of the world and our fellow beings. This inclusive grief circle is also an advocacy for compassionate and attentive grief work, for reshaping our understanding of and relationship with grief. It is a holding space, a container, a time and a deep permission to acknowledge our emotions, our connections, the ways we have been touched and transformed, and our humanity. We will make art in response to the Artist Grief Deck, participate in a burning ritual, share and witness each other’s stories and journeys, and co-create a group nature mandala together. **Please bring a jar and 8-10 similar natural objects (8 flowers or 8 sticks or 8 stones).** If you are facing financial hardship, please key in CONCESSION as a promo code for a discounted price of $25. If that is still difficult, please email me at greenhouse.arttherapy@gmail.com. No one will be turned away. **Please also note:** * This is an art-therapy informed community-based creative gathering, and is not intended to replace individual or group therapy, and is also not for emergency crisis support or intervention. * If you are comfortable with me taking photos of you and/or your artwork for my learning and supervision purposes, and to offer others a sense of what the workshop is like, please let me know at the start of the session. Your participation would be greatly appreciated! * While the estimated time is 2 hours, it might overrun depending on the size of the group and the conversations we are having so please allow some grace for that.

Monday Climb
Monday Climb
Hello Climbers! Just meet at the yellow sign and introduce yourself :) From there we pair up to climb. If we have an odd number of people, we can make a rotating group of 3. There is also a self-belay area if you want to get in more climbing if in a group of 3 or arriving earlier. If the event you are planning to go to only has one or 2 people on the ‘attending’ list, we encourage organising a climbing partner in advance so you can make sure you have at least one other person there to climb with! Feel free to reach out on the event wall or message a host :) Meet up will start at 6pm but if you want to start earlier you certainly can, but again you will need to organise a climbing partner in advance. New climbers are welcome, however your mandatory induction takes about 15/20mins. Harnesses, shoes and chalk bag can be hired also. 🌿✨ For Singles, A Middle‑Suburbs Meander 15km - Anniversary Trail🌿✨
🌿✨ For Singles, A Middle‑Suburbs Meander 15km - Anniversary Trail🌿✨
🌿✨ **The** **Singles** **Only** **Middle‑Suburbs** **Meander** Fairfield → East Malvern via the Anniversary Trail Saturday 4th July, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM **Ages: 30–55** | Singles only | No married or seperated people | New couples maybe… if they’re very new **Meet**: Outside the Fairfield railway station at 11 a.m for a 11.15 am start. On the side where the trains are moving away from the city. **Cost**: $0... yes nothing **💘The** **Vibe** A flirty, whimsical winter wander for singles only — the kind of gentle, slow‑burn social chemistry that happens when you mix crisp air, shared adventure, and a trail that practically invites conversation. **Please** ***note***: **This*** **event*** ***is*** **waitlisted**. I want a balanced gender mix, i.e even numbers of girls and guys. I have a creep code operating and event expectations around no shows, read on for how that works. **Couples** are welcome only if they’re very new (the kind where you’re still pretending you don’t stalk each other’s Instagram stories). **Married** **people**: this one isn’t for you. We’re keeping the energy light, open, and romantically unencumbered. This event will be waitlisted to help maintain a roughly balanced gender mix — not a perfect science, but enough to keep the social ecosystem feeling fair and fun. 🚶‍♀️👁️ **The** **Route** A deliciously meandering 15 km journey from Fairfield Railway Station to East Malvern Railway Station, following the Anniversary Trail — a path built for bicycles but secretly perfect for flirty winter walking. **Detail here**: [https://www.railtrails.org.au/trails/outer-circle-rail-trail/](https://www.railtrails.org.au/trails/outer-circle-rail-trail/) **Expect**: Leafy suburban pockets with “I could live here” energy Sweeping shared paths ideal for side‑by‑side banter Hidden corners of the middle suburbs that feel like your own private discovery A mid‑walk lunch stop at East Camberwell — warm food, warm hands, warmer conversations. This is also the half way point at around 8km, you can exit the walk at this point and catch. train etc back into the city We finish at a café/pub in East Malvern, where the group can thaw out, mingle, and see which conversations want to keep going. **🧣Winter** **Wisdom &** **What** **to** **Bring** - Comfortable walking shoes (your feet will thank you) - Snacks + water - Warm layers — it’s winter, and Melbourne weather loves drama - A playful, open attitude - A willingness to chat with strangers who ight not stay strangers **🚶‍♀️Fitness** **and** **etiquette** I like walking at a relaxed pace around 4+km/hr It's a long walk, so make sure you can keep up and can make the distance People who speed ahead aren't really welcome, find a speed walking group instead. If you are too slow and dawdle you might be asked to leave, same goes with inappropriate behaviour. Do not turn up un announced and not on the guest list, you will be asked to leave., Check ins will be performed. No shows will likely be removed from the group. If you can't make it take yourself off the going list 💘 **Flirtation** **Guidelines** This is a social event, not a pressure cooker.Don’t be pushy about phone numbers — let the moment offer itself If the vibe is mutual, go for it Become a regular — I’ll be testing this format over 3–4 events You’ll likely see the same lovely humans again at future singles nights/events or Eat Drink Dance “open” events The goal is to build a small, recurring ecosystem where people feel comfortable, familiar, and relaxed enough to be themselves. **👥Waitlist & Gender Ratios** To keep things balanced and comfortable: Event capped at max 30 people to test interest, Generally guys admitted only after a woman registers (to maintain ratios) at my discretion until the format matures. If you become a regular I'm not so discriminating as long as you behave yourself. Women can be a little flaky (we love them anyway), so I may accept 1–2 extra **🧭The Creep** **Code** A refined social compass keeps the vibe safe, fun, and drama‑free. So: No married/seperated individuals or those already coupled up (generally) No Tinder Swindler‑style minglers **Guys**: **Please Take Special Note** - Must have a clear face photo (no sunglasses, no blurry shadows, no “mysterious man in witness protection”) - No wide shots taken from a distance where you can't be identified. - No yacht/car/jet flexing — if your profile screams “crypto‑adjacent”, you will be gently declined. - If you are declined, update your profile photo to something less creepy. **Girls**: No restrictions — privacy and safety first” ⚠️ **SMAL EVENT EXPECTATIONS ⚠️** **⏰Late Arrivals** **The event starts on time.** - More than 15 minutes late without communication = No‑show - More than 30 minutes late (even with communication) = Not admitted = No Show - We do not endlessly wait at meeting points. If you’re late, you must find the group yourself. - Messages are not monitored after 30 minutes. - This protects the experience for people who arrive on time **👻 No‑Shows** No‑shows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events. - Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event. - No‑shows will likely be removed and blocked from the group. - Last‑minute cancellations (“flaking”) may also result in group removal, especially when there is a waitlist. 👀 **Attending** **Without** **Being** **on** **the** **Going** **List** - This is a security issue. - **Do** **NOT** **turn** **up** **unannounced**. - If you’re not on the Going list and haven’t arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. - Event check‑ins are performed. **🌱Why** **This** **Event** **Exists** A few people have asked me to run something for singles, and Meetup is already full of solo attendees. Dating apps feel like a minefield, and IRL conversations tend to be and are rare and sometimes awkward. So this is an experiment — a soft‑launch into a more human, more organic way of meeting people for singles..

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
**Practical Curiosity: Learning from Everyday Data** How do we actually get better at utilizing our day-to-day data? Fancy dashboards and complex models might look nice and draw attention, but that’s not where most of us spend our time. In fact those shiny outputs frequently sit unused, while the real insights are drawn from the analyst’s daily practice. Sometimes it’s as simple and as powerful as noticing that a segment is shrinking, a channel is underused, or certain links keep getting all the clicks. There’s many different places that the spark of insight can come from, but you have to keep your head in the data and know where to look. In this session, we’ll explore real-world examples of how segmentation, testing, and click behavior can uncover practical digital marketing opportunities. You’ll leave with inspiration for your own use cases, along with a few simple ways to ask better questions, spot meaningful patterns, and make smarter decisions without overcomplicating it. **About Our Speaker:** [Elaine Armbruster](https://www.linkedin.com/in/elainearmbruster/) is a Director of Digital Experience at the [American Diabetes Association](https://diabetes.org/), where she focuses on using data and insights to create smarter, more effective digital experiences. A lifelong Columbus resident, she has built her career in email marketing and the broader digital user journey, and is finding she most enjoys working in the messy middle where systems, data, and big ideas don’t quite line up yet. Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteer Opportunity
Open Shelter has teamed up again with Red White and Boom! Friday, July 3rd & we are looking for volunteers to run the event’s alcohol booths. Proceeds from sales go to the Open Shelter’s organization. There are two available shifts: 12-6p & 5-11p. There will be an ipad-like device to process transactions in addition to cash. Everything will be in bottles or cans, so transactions should be very easy. Must be 21+. There are multiple beverage stations along the Civic Center Bridge. The stations are covered and also have beverage trucks next to them, so volunteers can cool off in the trucks. As far as parking, it is suggested those who are coming from the east use the Columbus Commons Garage, and those from the west use the Belle Street Garage. Harry from the Open Shelter will be your contact. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events! Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
