๐ Books & Social ๐ธ
๐Reading books and discussing them are two distinct experiences! Conversations about books and sharing insights help us better appreciate literature and enrich our lives.
Let's grab a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and discuss books we're currently reading or have recently enjoyedโwhether poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. Bring your physical book or e-reader.
There's no formal structure or agendaโjust books and good conversation.๐ฌ
It's a perfect place to get book recommendations and rediscover your reading momentum if you've hit a slump. We welcome readers of all backgrounds and interests!
โ ๏ธ**Something Happened?**
If something unpleasant happened to you, it may happen to others. Even if it seems minor, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
๐ **How to find us?**
* When I reach the venue, I'll leave a comment in the meetup where the group is seated. Normally, the booking is in my name, so you can ask the staff for the group.
* If you're unable to find us, leave a comment in the meetup page. I'll be able to guide you.
We highly encourage you to move between tables and strike up conversations with fellow book lovers. These discussions about literature and reading recommendations are often the highlight of the event!
As an organizer, I'm always looking for feedback about the event and suggestions for new events, so feel free to suggest ideas to me. ๐ก
I look forward to seeing you all! ๐
Ciorcal Comhrรก sa chlub, beginners welcome!
Dear fellow Gaeilgeoiri,
Cead mile failte / a warm welcome to this group of Irish language lovers and enthusiasts. Hope you will enjoy everything it has to offer and feel free to suggest new events, and, why not step in as an event organizer?
What this group is not:
- A group limited to those with perfect proficiency in the language, where any single word of English is banned, and where you will get corrected for every sรฉimhiรบ that, God forbid, you might be forgetting
What this group is:
- A forum of Gaeilge enthusiasts willing to share their interest and love of the language. We all started learning a language, including our own, from scratch at some point in our lives. Absolute beginners are welcome and should not feel intimidated. Near perfect and native Irish speakers are also welcome to share their vast knowledge of the language. Hopefully this will create a thriving community of lovers of the language at any level.

The Whiteheaded Boy (Abbey Theatre)
Plan to have a pre-show drink at the Abbey Theatre bar from 6.45, if anyone feels like joining.
Please buy your own ticket here: [https://www.abbeytheatre.ie/whats-on/the-whiteheaded-boy/ ](https://www.abbeytheatre.ie/whats-on/the-whiteheaded-boy/ )
About the play:
A top-of-the-shelf comedy โ one of the sharpest in the Abbeyโs history" The Sunday Independent
**โEvery Mammy has her favouriteโฆโ**
The table is set for Denis, arriving home from Dublin where heโs studying Medicine at Trinity College โ a source of enormous pride for his besotted mother and of great resentment to his five other siblings.
But when word comes that he may have failed his exams *again*, the final straw breaks. Threats of deportation, lawsuits, bribes and counter-bribes escalate, as the family twist the fate of their whiteheaded boy to suit themselves.
A smash hit when it premiered at the Abbey Theatre 110 years ago, Lennox Robinsonโs **The Whiteheaded Boy** is a raucous, high-stakes tug-of-war between those who will do anything to keep their standing in the town and those who just want to live their lives as they please.
Award-winning director **Annie Ryan** re-imagines this bawdy and bold Irish classic with a contemporary eye and a sharp feminist wink to the past. Notions abound!
You can read the former Head of Special Projects at the National Archives of Ireland, Catriona Croweโs take on the play and its modern relevance [here](https://www.rte.ie/culture/2026/0615/1577953-the-whiteheaded-boy-how-a-110-year-old-play-speaks-to-today/).
The Assistant Costume Design role is made possible by the Abbey Theatreโs partnership with the Irish Society of Performance Designers through their Assistant Designer Programme, funded by the Arts Council.

Monthly Makerfur Meet
Are you a beginner fursuit maker who wants to learn the craft? Are you into electronics and want to figure out how to make your LED strips emit custom patterns? Or maybe you want to talk on the radio with your fluffy friends? No matter how big or small, fluffy or simple the project is, bring it in to us for a social, fluffy event for all cats, dogs, wolves, foxes, and even protogens or any other species known.
All you need to take part is an idea that you want to bring to life.
The furry maker night will run every first week of the month.
This is not a taught class, more like an informal working group of self-directed makers.
While you can bring your fursuit in, either to work on it as a project or for repairs, it is heavily discouraged to wear them inside the space. Accessories such as tails are also discouraged for safety reasons.
We are looking forward to seeing every fur in our space.

Letโs playโฆ The Wildsea / The (Orc) Pope Is Dead
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games - you will choose which game you play on the day. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination.
This week's facilitators:
* **Colin** will run The Wildsea: Centuries ago, the old world was swallowed by a sea of mile-high trees. Now you and your crew sail across the treetops of the Wildsea in a shop driven by a chainsaw. Low magic, high weird, leaf-punk adventures await! Your crew has heard rumors of same rare materials revealed by a recent storm and you are off to explore!
* **Silvia** will run The (Orc) Pope Is Dead, yet another silly adventure by Grant Howitt.
Terrible news: you and the lads went out drinking with the Pope last night and now heโs dead. The orcish church of Bog-Al-Kurruk is without a leader. Can you and your mates - esteemed clerics all - work out which one of you itโs going to
be, and then outdo or discredit your rivals to claim the most prestigious title in the orc nation?

Details for the event (number of groups and games) will be published here or earlier on our [Discord server](https://tinyurl.com/indie-rpgs-dublin). Feel free to ask the organisers any questions you have (here or on Discord).

## [Kyle Jenkins](https://www.linkedin.com/in/kyle-jenkins/)
**Unpacking Process Anti-Patterns: Lessons from Ideation to Delivery**
In the fast-paced world of software engineering, processes often shape success or sow frustration. Over the years, recurring anti-patterns have emerged well-meaning practices that unintentionally create inefficiencies, stifle innovation, or harm team dynamics. These pitfalls, though rooted in good intentions, can derail projects and undermine trust when left unchecked.
Through real-world examples and two decades of industry experience, this presentation unpacks common process anti-patterns across the software lifecycle. With a focus on fostering understanding, not blame, weโll examine how flawed workflows contribute to challenges and how reversing them can empower teams to build clarity, creativity, collaboration, and trust.
**AGENDA:**
* See updates to parking below
* Doors open at 5:30, feel free to come and hang out before!
* Official start of the meeting is at 6:30pm
* After the meeting is done, we will go hang out at a nearby space in Bridge Park!
If you can, please sign up via meetup by noon the day of the meeting so we can have an estimate headcount for food :) We always order extra, so feel free to join us even if you don't get signed up!
Thank you to Bold Penguin for providing the food and location!
**Parking & Arrival:**
**Parking:** Parking in Bridge Park is free. The closest lots are the Mooney Garage and the Hotel/Endres Garage.
**Entry:** The doors to the office are to the right of PINS. The street level door and elevators lock at 6pm. If you arrive after that, someone should be there to let you in, else call the number posted. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor. Once you exit the elevator, turn right.
