Let's join Sarah and Willow for this fun Christmas Eve meetup. Meet at the Asian Collection Parking at 9 a.m. and plan to go on about a 1.5hr walk. Time: 9 a.m. - 11:00ish a.m. Please plan on extra time to get to the parking lot once you enter the arboretum. It is on the opposite side of the arboretum from the main parking and about a 5 min drive. (The gate to the river open at 8:30 if anyone wants to meet early for some off leash play). Location: Asian Collection Parking area (this is a small lot by the Asian Collection and Dogwoods, not the main parking area). If the lot is full you can park just a little ways away at the Dogwood Collection The walk starting at 9am with be on-leash . If anyone wants to go to river for some off leash play first, the gate opens at 8:30. If no one else is around, those who are comfortable can let their dogs run around off-leash in a big field for 10 -15min. At 9am we will meet near the Asian collection parking and do an on-leash big loop around the arboretum. Since it's the holidays, during the walk we will visit then evergreen and holly collections. Our half way point will be at the old Capitol Columns. There we will take a water break and take some pictures. After the break we can walk back to the parking area, or for those who'd like to stay longer there are many other areas to explore! This will be a mix of walking on pavement and on dirt/grass. We will be participating in a trivia night event at craft house located in Fairfax on Tuesday. Trivia starts at 7:30 pm. Parking: There is free parking. Please show up by 7:15 pm so that we organize accordingly. We may field multiple teams depending on turnout. Max team size is 6. Please plan on arriving and staying for the entire trivia event. To ensure you get a spot on a trivia team: * Please arrive by 7:15 PM, or notify the hosts that you are running late by 7:15 PM. If you arrive after 7:15 or don't notify the hosts, you are not guaranteed a spot on a trivia team and may need to form your own, separate team. * Please RSVP so we know to expect you. Everyone is welcome to attend our weekly happy hour, at Tony & Joe's Waterfront Bar in Georgetown (3000 K. St, NW). The event goes from 7:15 to around 10:00 PM. Feel free to show up at any time. French speakers of all levels- from beginners to expats- are invited. We hope to see you there!

Social Sips & Bites friends, we heard you. A few of you reached out asking if we had anything planned for Christmas Eve. Melissa and I are happy to share that yes, we’re putting something together. We’re organizing a relaxed, casual walk through Old Town Alexandria, followed by a cozy group dinner at (any restaurant we can find open that night). It will be a great chance to enjoy the festive lights, have good conversation, and spend time together before the holiday. This will be a small, and fun group.

Suffering post-Christmas letdown? Then come to the Silver Diner at 1250 Half Street SE, Washington, DC for some post-Christmas cheer! Located just blocks from Navy Yard Metro on the Green Line and across the street from Nationals Park, the Silver Diner is two stories and features an ever-rotating menu with everything from vegan to vegetarian to gluten-free to omnivore. Driving is NOT recommended. Parking is expensive and difficult to find. NOTE THE FIRST: The Navy Yard Metro station's Nationals Park entrance is closed. Only the New Jersey Ave. entrance is open. Please allow some extra time to account for this and any other service changes. I will post service changes the week before the event. Come exchange Asian Languages that you speak! ***GRAB A DRINK AND YOU WILL BE ALL SET TO FLEX YOUR LANGUAGE CAPACITY. YOU NEED TO GET AT LEAST A DRINK OR FOOD :) To get the event going and show support. We know that you like our events. P.S. : We have non-alcoholic drinks as well.*** We have a tiny venue and we hit capacity often and early arrival is suggested. We have the discretion to decide entry. We will assign tables for represented languages. All languages are welcome! However we don't guarantee the availability of a partner in that particular language, you would like to exchange. As you all remember well, this event used to bring out hundreds of people every week. However, it was discontinued last year for obvious reasons and we couldn't gather that many people now, because of restrictions. Hence, we are downsizing and caping the number of attendees. We have super limited spots and advance ticket purchase is required. ***AFTER THE HAPPY HOUR, WE HIT THE DANCE FLOOR! BRING YOUR DANCING SHOES, WE WILL DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY!*** HOW IT WORKS : We will try to assign tables for each represented languages and will direct attendees to their respective tables accordingly. All languages are welcome! However we don't guarantee the availability of a partner in that particular language, you would like to exchange. Rules to abide : 1. Event is free and 21+ (bring ID). 2. Be respectful to your counterparts and give them a chance to exchange with others as well. 3. We all are native speakers of one or two languages and be willing to help others and try to accommodate as much as possible. 4. If you don't speak the other person's required language, LEAVE THEM ALONE. 5. Rude or aggressive members are removed from the group at an organizers discretion. 6. This is a face-to-face language exchange event. DO NOT try to arrange an online meeting, by using the comment box or direct message. 7. Most of our members complained about people writing in the comment box. Since it sends notification to all attendees. If you have any questions, send a message to the organizers. Don't write in the comment box. 8. We have ZERO TOLERANCE for solicitation. We don't allow anyone to run their own agenda at the Event. Don't be shy of your local languages. We have diplomates assigned to different countries, who would love to practice your languages. 11\. Come to Ellsworth Park with your little one for a fun time. Make a swing buddy. Explore one of downtown Silver Spring's park. Ellsworth Park is located next to the Friends of the Library Bookstore (old Silver Spring Library). There is parking, but if you live in downtown Silver Spring, it is just a short walk up Colesville Rd. The park has plenty of trees for shade. Two different play ages for younger and older kids to have fun. Hope to see you there.
