STACK Meetup [Engineering]: The Rebuilding of Singpass’ Infrastructure Platform
**ANNOUNCEMENT – Registration via this [link](https://go.gov.sg/stackmeetup-25jun2026) only.**
Singpass is the backbone of Singapore's national digital identity, but what does it actually take to run, scale, and evolve the infrastructure beneath?
In this engineering-focused Meetup, we'll trace the evolution of Singpass’ infrastructure from its early days to the present. Deep dive into the modern architectural strategies being deployed today by the team to ensure that this critical digital product is secure and resilient by default.
Moving past the buzzwords, we will dissect what truly constitutes PaaP or Platform as a Product, and pull back the curtain on the real-world realities of leading a platform engineering team.
Whether you are currently building internal tooling or seeking inspiration on scaling your cloud-native systems, this session will challenge you to rethink how your organisation can approach infrastructure.
Who should attend: Software Engineers, Cloud and Infrastructure professionals, and Product Managers working on infrastructure platforms. Attendees should have a basic understanding of Kubernetes or Cloud Service Providers.

MLSG - The Agent Harness Revolution
This month, we return to the crowd-favourite topic of Agentic Systems & Harnesses!
Talks:
**"Patterns of Successful Agent Harnesses" - Sam Witteveen**
In a talk he previously delivered at Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas, Sam will focus on the core patterns and components of successful agents and harnesses, covering patterns from coding agents like Claude Code & Codex through personal agents like OpenClaw & Hermes. These patterns clearly show what is working in building modern agents.
**"Trying to download more RAM for my life" - Raghav Bhardwaj**
In this lightning talk, Raghav describes his month-long journey hacking in OpenClaw to build a personal agent OS. He goes over changes made for continuity across hundreds of projects, and turning scattered chats, files, tasks, tools, and memories into a working loop that can keep up with the mess.
**"Local Models & Self-Evolving Harnesses" - Martin Andrews**
In his talk, Martin will first explain how a number of the recently announced self-updating harness systems work. Then, in light of the recent turbulence in the world of Foundation Models, he'll talk about Local Models, and how to increase business robustness.
**FOOD UPDATE :** Google has told us that **there WILL BE** pizza at the event
\-\-\-
Talks will start at 7:10pm (entry at 6:45pm) and end at around 9:00pm, at which point attendees can come up to the front for a bit of a chat with each other, and the speakers.
Due to some recent security incidents at the venue please take note of the new DevSpace security procedures [https://bit.ly/devspace-security](https://bit.ly/devspace-security)
Attendees will not be admitted later than 15min after the talks have started.
As always, we're actively looking for more speakers - both '30 minutes long-form', and lightning talks. For the lightning talks, we welcome folks to come and talk about something cool they've done with keras, PyTorch, JAX and/or Deep Learning for 5-10mins (so, if you have slides, then #max=10). We believe that the key ingredient for the success of a Lightning Talk is simply the cool/interesting factor. It doesn't matter whether you're an expert or an enthusiastic beginner: Given the responses we have had to previous talks, we're sure there are lots of people who would love to hear what you've been playing with. If you're interested in talking, please just introduce yourself to Martin at one of the events.

System design interviews can feel intimidating, but they don’t have to be.
As part of the **Code Mentoring Programme**, we’re bringing together engineers, job seekers, mentors, and mentees for a practical workshop on how to approach system design interviews with more clarity and confidence.
Led by **Victoria Lo**, Solutions Engineer Lead and WomenDevsSG Director, together with **Aishwarya**, Community & Programs Lead, this session will walk through a repeatable framework for structuring your answers, communicating tradeoffs, and focusing on what interviewers actually want to see.

✅ Break down requirements, entities, and APIs
✅ Sketch a high-level architecture
✅ Dive deep into critical design areas
✅ Practise applying the framework in real time with other attendees

Practical Philosophy Meetup - Singapore 🇸🇬
🏛️ **WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?**
Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎
Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.
The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌
📓 **HOW DOES IT WORK?**
Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Dsjl0cwLVxR4tw1jTC1Osx?mode=gi_t), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.
When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture.
**General Meeting Agenda**
Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline:
* 19:00-19:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start.
* 19:15-19:25 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines.
* 19:25-20:45 - Break into small groups - introduce yourselves and general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them.
* 20:45-21:00 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions of the topic - each group gives a short 1-minute summary. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo.
* 21:00 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other.
**🧧PRICING?**
Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! We just ask that if we are meeting in a café, buy a beverage! Some chapters rent a space for us to meet, and they may ask for donations to help contribute to the cost of rent. Donations will always be 100% voluntary though!
💛 **WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY**
🗣 “I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wrong” - Ekam
🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.” - Daniel
**🤓 FAQ**
* What will we talk about? What's the topic?
The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you don’t see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Dsjl0cwLVxR4tw1jTC1Osx?mode=gi_t).
* Do I need to study or read anything to attend?
No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required.
* Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?
The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school.
* Is it mostly men that attend?
Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms.
* Can I come alone?
Of course you can, we encourage it :)
* Can I be late?
Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation.
* Where do you meet?
The location is posted in Meetup and our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Dsjl0cwLVxR4tw1jTC1Osx?mode=gi_t) group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/practical-philosophy-locations/).
**PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY - Making Philosophy Available To All.** ✨
Practical Philosophy hosts weekly, in-person meetups in over 20 countries, including Canada, Spain, Japan, Mexico and many more! 🗺️

Is This Really It? — An Honest Evening Conversation
**I want to ask you something personal.**
**When did you last have a conversation — a real one — where you didn’t have to perform being okay?**
**Not with your colleagues. Not with your family who worry about you. Not on a first date where you’re still deciding how much to reveal.**
**Just an honest conversation. About where you actually are. What you actually want. What’s quietly weighing on you that you haven’t found the right moment — or the right person — to say out loud yet.**
**I ask because I think a lot of us are carrying more than we let on.**
**The career that pays the bills but costs you something you can’t quite name. The love life that hasn’t gone the way you hoped, no matter how hard you’ve tried. The Sunday evening feeling that the week ahead is just more of the same — and the life you actually wanted is somehow still waiting somewhere in the future.**
**You’re not broken. You’re not behind. You’re just human. And you deserve a space to actually say that.**
**That’s what this evening is.**
**I’m Victoria. Many of you know me from our dinners, breakfasts, and walks over the years.**
**What you may not know is everything I’ve walked through and the rollercoaster rides I’ve been on to get here.**
**On the professional front, I’ve spent years in HR and coaching holding space for people through retrenchments, burnout, and career crossroads. I’ve coached thousands of professionals through some of the most uncertain chapters of their lives.**
**I run my own business. I’ve organised dating events for singles courageous enough to open their hearts again. I’ve sat across from so many people who came to me feeling lost — and left with something shifting inside them.**
**And through all of it, I’m on my own journey. Still am.**
**I’ve made a lot of pivots in my life and I’ll share with you more tonight — not because I have it all figured out, but because I think something in my story might speak to something in yours.**
**Many of you have asked me over the years why I run these gatherings the way I do. No sponsors. No agenda. No pitch. I just love bringing people together. I’m happy to help. I’m simply happy to be there for you. That’s always been enough for me.**
**You know those walks we do — where I’m playing tour guide, making us walk, pointing things out? I go home after those sessions genuinely happy. Full. That feeling of having connected people, having created something real out of just a few hours together — I simply enjoy it.**
**This evening is no different. Just more intentional. More intimate.**
**And maybe — for some of you — more timely.**
**We’ll talk about the things we usually don’t.**
**The rat race and whether you’re running toward something or just running. What it would mean to one day own your time completely. Love and the courage it takes to keep your heart open after disappointment. Starting over — in career, in relationships, in the quiet belief that the best chapters are still ahead.**
**No agenda. No slides. No performance.**
**Just a handful of us in a room being brave enough to be real with each other and ourselves.**
**The evening will be held in a quiet, private meeting room — a proper space for conversations like this. No background noise, no interruptions, no one rushing you along. Just the kind of unhurried environment that a reflection this important actually deserves.**
**A quick note on RSVPs — like many of you know, our Meetup events tend to get a lot of sign-ups and not everyone makes it on the night. Because this room has limited seats and I want every chair filled with someone who genuinely wants to be here, I’m doing this one a little differently.**
**If you haven’t got my number, please message me directly to receive my contact number and confirm your attendance. Your spot is only reserved once you’ve confirmed with me personally and not just on meetup. It wouldn’t feel right to hold a seat for someone who isn’t coming when there may be someone else who needs this evening far more.**
**First come, first seated — and I genuinely hope that’s you. 🤍**
**This is not a seminar. Not a networking event. Not a motivational talk.**
**Just people connecting with people. People who are honest enough with themselves to know that life could be fuller — in career, in love, in freedom, in just feeling like themselves again.**
**Maybe you need a real conversation. Maybe you need to hear that someone else feels it too. Maybe you just need one evening that reminds you the things you want are still possible.**
**This evening might not change everything. But it might change something. A perspective. A decision you’ve been putting off. A conversation that needed to happen. A realisation that’s been waiting quietly for the right moment.**
**You’ve been putting yourself last for long enough.**
**Come. Show up for yourself — even just this once.**
**That little bit more is waiting for you. 🤍**
****** ***Out of respect for the openness and safety of this space — and based on feedback from our community — I’d also ask that you share your occupation when you message me to confirm. This evening is a genuine, pressure-free conversation and to keep it that way, I’m unable to accommodate those working in sales, MLM, or similar fields. I hope you understand and appreciate that this boundary exists to protect the experience for everyone in the room. 🙏*** ******
Systema Regular Group Class (Adults & Teens, All Levels)
**For ages 13 and above.**
Systema is a Russian Martial Art founded by the late Colonel Mikhail Ryabko and Vladimir Vasiliev. Systema was designed to develop individuals in a combative style which upholds the intrinsic value of all human life. This is why it is non-destructive – even of one’s enemies. Through the use of simple exercises, breathing techniques and massage work, Systema helps you to build a strong mind and body.
Here is what you can expect:
**Warm ups**
Class begins with warming up each of the systems of the body – from the breathing, muscular and nervous system, each component needs to be properly engaged.
**Thematic studies**
Fetching from a huge pool of drills and sometimes even crafting specialized ones, our instructors format a logical progression of the concept being shared. Depending on the ability of the class, the drills are modified to be at the optimal level for learning, with suitable modifications given to students based on their individual performance.
**Application of concepts**
After the thematic studies, some time is given for the students to apply the training – the intensity is decided upon by the students under the supervision of the instructor. At times, the instructor will request for the students to push themselves, while at other times they are there to taper in the sparring to a productive level.
**Cool downs**
The cooldowns are usually done in a way both the help the class recover from the higher intensity application section as well as to revisit the concepts again in a calmer manner. This helps to ensure everyone is reminded of the key points. Sometimes we do a little massage.
**Training circles**
At the end of every training session, we circle up to share a few words about the training. This tradition was handed to us from our founders and is an integral part of our training.

**Abstract**
*Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code*
Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs.
In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling.
The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options.
