## What we’re about
Buongiorno a tutti. Cerco persone serie e disposte solamente a divertirsi, senza puntare mazzette grazie mille.

Tech Startups on the Terrace - Milan (6 PM CET) - New Location - Open by Joivy
🍻 **Join Us for Tech Startups on the Terrace - Milan Edition!** 🍻
Hey there! 🌟
We have found a new location that suits out networking needs!
Allora, we'd love for you to join us for our next edition of *Tech Startups in the Terrace*.
The event is scheduled for **6 PM local Italian time**. The platform does not allow us to change the time zone, so we can only create events in GMT. Thus, you will see the invitation for 7 PM, but you definitely want to come earlier, since the place will be closed from 9-9:30 PM.
It's a relaxed and refreshing evening at the **Porta Romana**, in a lovely **coworking space Open by Joivy**, and run by Volodymyr. We have been running for 3.5 years in London, and we are excited to now run our monthly events in Milan as well, welcoming new folks to the community.
Whether you're a tech founder, an enthusiast, a budding entrepreneur, or simply curious about the tech scene, you'll fit right in. This isn't about panels or pitching, just good old-fashioned networking with like-minded people over a drink on a Thursday evening.
**House Rules:**
* Find Volodymyr to introduce yourself so we can welcome you properly. The place owners know we are coming, so you should be able to find us easily.
* No hard selling or heavy pitching. This is a chill, friendly after-work get-together.
* Not drinking? No worries! You're more than welcome to come hang out and enjoy the conversation.
Mark your calendar and come down for some fun tech talk. See you there!

Consapevolezza senza scelta: Krishnamurti nell’era dell’indecisione (IT/EN)
**Italiano**
* una breve introduzione per chiarire cosa si intende per “consapevolezza senza scelta”;
* ascolto/lettura di brani scelti;
* qualche semplice esperienza guidata di osservazione (del corpo, dei pensieri, delle emozioni);
* momenti di condivisione e dialogo aperto, in cui ciascuno potrà portare la propria esperienza con l’indecisione, il controllo, il bisogno di scegliere il “giusto”.
Nessuna esperienza precedente richiesta.
**Ingresso libero — posti limitati**.
**English**
**We live surrounded by choices**: what to do, who to be, what stance to take on almost everything. And yet, **the more options we have, the more often we get stuck in indecision**, in rumination, in overthinking. In this scenario\*\*, Jiddu Krishnamurti’s proposal sounds almost shocking: a *choiceless awareness*\*\*, the capacity to see what is, before any decision, technique, or method.
In this meeting we will use **Krishnamurti’s thought as a guiding thread** to explore together what it might mean, today, **to “see what is” without judging, without selecting, without trying to fix everything right away**. We will start from some of his key passages on awareness, the observer and the observed, and the ending of inner conflict, listening to or reading them together and leaving room for dialogue.
Alongside Krishnamurti’s voice, we will also bring in **other perspectives on awareness**: from mindfulness to contemporary psychology, from emotional and bodily awareness to a more existential search for meaning. This will help us distinguish between awareness as a “technique” and awareness as a way of seeing and living.
**The meeting will alternate:**
* a brief introduction to clarify what is meant by “choiceless awareness”
* listening to/reading selected passages
* some simple guided exercises of observation (of the body, thoughts, emotions)
* moments of sharing and open dialogue, where everyone can bring their own experience with indecision, control, and the need to make the “right” choice
**Some questions** that will guide our dialogue:
* What do we each mean when we say “we are aware”?
* In which moments of life do we notice we are stuck in indecision or rumination?
* What is, in our experience, the difference between “controlling” and “observing”?
* What could it concretely mean to take a step toward “choiceless awareness” in everyday life?
You don’t need to know Krishnamurti already, nor have any experience with meditation: all that’s needed is curiosity and a willingness to look a little more closely at the way we usually observe, judge, and choose.
No previous experience required. Just bring your presence and your willingness to observe without judging and without ulterior motives.
**Free entry — limited seats**. Please confirm your participation through Meetup.
See you at Otto on the 18th June 2026 at 18:30; buying a drink or snack at the venue is not mandatory but recommended, as the place is kindly hosting our event.
IMPARA A GERMOGLIARE: La gentilezza verso di sè

ma molto più severi con noi stessi.

Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge.
**Abstract**
*Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code*
Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs.
In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling.
The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options.
