Expect a technical tour of visualisation tools for multivariate and high-dimensional data in R with practical examples! **ℹ️ Abstract** Statistical graphics are central to exploring and modeling complex data. As dimensionality increases, uncovering structure and dependencies becomes more challenging. This presentation gives an overview of practical tools for visualizing multivariate data, from strategic use of scatterplots and scatterplot matrices to linear and nonlinear projection methods. Special emphasis will be placed on tour methods—animated sequences of linear projections—that reveal clustering, outliers, and nonlinear relationships. Für diese erste Leserunde schlage ich das Buch **„Ostblockherz“ von Didi Drobna** vor (ca. 180 Seiten). Der Roman berührt Themen wie Familie, Migration, Herkunft und die manchmal schwierige Beziehung zwischen Eltern und Kindern. Wenn Interesse besteht, können wir die Leserunde gerne gelegentlich wiederholen. Für zukünftige Bücher können wir dann auch gemeinsam Vorschläge sammeln. Arnold Schönberg (1874–1951) was one of the most significant figures in the creative world in the first half of the 20th century. Following in the tradition of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and Mahler, the Austrian (and, after his immigration to New York and later Los Angeles, also US-American) composer, music theorist, teacher, and writer reshaped the practice of harmony in classical music. Some of Schönberg’s most famous contributions were the development of his twelve-tone-method and his attention to sound color (Klangfarbe), both of which strongly influenced generations of composers up until today. But Schönberg’s creative world goes beyond music. He was a designer, painter, inventor, and systems thinker: building tools and furniture, binding books, designing stage sets and costumes, inventing machines, and even building his own chess set, for four players. In this meetup, we explore Schönberg through a UX lens: what can his way of thinking, making, and problem-solving teach us about design, tools, and user experience today? We will also look at the museum and concert space as an experience that unfolds through the perception of an audience. The [Arnold Schönberg Center](https://schoenberg.at/) is a repository of Schönberg's archival legacy. Director Dr. Ulrike Anton will provide an introduction to the Arnold Schönberg Center. User researcher Dr. Franziska Brunner will give us a guided tour and lead a discussion of the exhibition. Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! This year's Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Vienna, Austria, and the finals are scheduled for 16 May 2026. The [Scandinavian Club of Columbus](https://www.scandiclub.com/) will be co-hosting a viewing party for the final event in conjunction with Germania and the [Columbus Maennerchor](https://www.maennerchor.com/). The delayed televised viewing will take place at the Germania. The program will start around 2:00 p.m. and the singing will start around 3:00 p.m. There will be a cash bar, and those in attendance can bring food or snacks for themselves and or to share with the groups. **Suggested donation: $10/person** to help cover the cost of the venue.
