Awakening to What's Here: Attuning to Self & Others
This is an online Sunday retreat to: **develop basic fluency** in the practices, concepts, and **language of spiritual experience** with like-minded people; **cultivate attunement** and connection with oneself and others; access flow states, embodied awareness, grounded and centered presence & consciousness; and taste the transcendent already present in the core of our being.
This workshop is for anyone who struggles to notice or articulate their subtle experience, and/or those who struggle to slow down, to drop out of drive gear into neutral; those wanting **out of the doing mode and enter into the being mode**; to awaken the inner source of meaning, value, purpose, connection, and wisdom; and to share that presence in relation to others.
Weāll move through a multiāmodal series of participatory practices across the DIME framework ā Dialogical, Imaginal, Mindfulness, and Embodiment ā as a foundation for a practical philosophy and intentional way of life.
Practices include: body scan meditation, mindful speaking and listening, focused and open awareness meditation, contemplation of a sacred text, invoking the spirit of a philosophically meaningful text, practices evoking a felt sense of āmorenessā or āsuchnessā, other authentic relating groupwork and a creative selfāexpression and selfāexploration practice.

šøš SPRING WALK OF THE TORONTO ISLANDS (9KM) ššø
šøš SPRING WALK OF THE TORONTO ISLANDS (9KM) ššø
Lakeside Paths, Skyline Views & A Full Island Escape
Thereās something about the Toronto Islands that feels like a mini getaway ā even though youāre just minutes from downtown.
Join us for a relaxed, scenic spring walk across the Toronto Islands, where open water, quiet pathways, and skyline views come together in one of the cityās most peaceful settings.
The Islands have a rich and layered history ā once a sandbar peninsula connected to the mainland until a storm in 1858 separated it, creating the island chain we know today. Over time, itās been home to cottages, amusement parks, and a tight-knit residential community that still exists on Wardās Island.
On this walk, weāll move from the quieter, more open spaces of Hanlan's Point, through the lively areas of Centre Island, and end in the charming residential feel of Ward's Island.
This is not a formal tour.
Itās a social walk with fresh air, beautiful views, and time to connect.

š¶āāļø What Weāll Do
Weāll take the ferry together to Hanlanās Point and begin our walk across the islands.
The route is flat, easy, and beginner-friendly ā perfect if youāre easing back into walking or just want something relaxed.
Weāll pass beaches, open green space, and some of the best skyline views in the city (perfect photo moment šø), making our way through Centre Island before ending at Wardās Island.
Feel free to bring a snack to enjoy along the way ā or even something small to share.
Youāre welcome to leave at any time or stay and explore after we finish.
š¦ļø Weather & Expectations
This walk will happen in typical spring weather ā which means sun, wind, or light rain are all possible.
As long as itās not extreme conditions, weāll be going ahead.
The islands can feel cooler and windier than the city, so dress in layers and be prepared.
Comfortable shoes are a must.
Also ā this is NOT a guided or historical tour. Iāll share bits of history casually, but the focus is on enjoying the experience together.

Drunken
This month's prompt concerns the idea of the āwarrior philosopherā (seemed appropriate in these times)--that is someone whose understanding of violence, power, and justice is forged through direct experience of war. We are looking at Major General Smedley D. Butler, a highly decorated U.S. Marine raised in a Quaker (pacifist) tradition who later became a prominent critic of American militarism (there is a wonderful biography of Gen. Butler called "Gangsters of Capitalism")
Butler's argument in *War Is a Racket* (1935): that many U.S. interventions were driven less by national defense than by corporate and financial interests, with Butler portraying himself as an enforcer for business and Wall Street. We can consider the moral ambiguity of his insider critiqueāwhether complicity strengthens or undermines credibility and also consider some of the concrete reforms he proposed (e.g., āconscriptā capital before soldiers, restrict the military to coastal defense, and have only those who fight decide on war).
Butlerās life arc clearly changed from pacifist upbringing to warrior to antiwar crusaderāand asks whether true understanding of peace requires firsthand knowledge of war, and what that implies about the cost of suffering. So do we need to suffer to understand suffering? Do we have to experience war to appreciate peace? As one more question: in the movie "A Few Good Men" Jack Nicholson's character says that "you have the luxury of not knowing what I know" so do most of us go through life oblivious to real violence and suffering? See you at Drunken Philosophy!
Free in Person Meeting - Get Over Losses and Betrayls
Do you want more motivation and confidence to build Lasting Relationships?
This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships.
Are you burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to āpin the blameā on someone or something. If you donāt find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse.
Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival, while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well.
Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, donāt know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe youāve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship.
Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action?
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships!
Break free from self imposed limitations
Here we will discuss:
⢠How to āeraseā the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isnāt always repeating past mistakes.
⢠Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you?
⢠Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it?
⢠Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love?
⢠Fights & arguments - what's really behind them?
⢠What underlies ācorrosive criticismā or the need to invalidate self or others?
⢠How one can stably change oneās outlook on life so they can affect positive change?
⢠Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them?
⢠How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about?
⢠How to enhance oneās own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or oneās career?
Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general.
Learn where painful experiences are āstoredā and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can āeraseā those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become ātoxicā personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you wonāt be tripped up trusting the wrong person.
Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
