FUN WRITING CHALLENGE ✍️ with Jakarta Creatives Vol. VI
FUN WRITING CHALLENGE ✍️ with Jakarta Creatives Vol. VI
Hello, Jakarta Writer! **Are you a member of [Jakarta Friends](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊 JakWri (former Jakarta Creatives) and JakFri is **the** biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… ...and we invite you to join us for this **Fun Writing Challenge Vol. VI** Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself. **ABOUT THE EVENT** This event is a fun, communal event to train your creative writing muscle. **It's easy and fun, and writers with every level of expertise and every kind of experience are wleomce to join!** This is how it works: Everyone will receive a prompt, and they will need to write a short piece based on that for about 45 minutes to 1h. After that, everyone will read or listen to what the others have written, and we will comment and discuss. We don't aim at criticizing, but at helping and elevating each other. Writing should be fun; writing together is even funnier! Sharing what you have written is optional. You can just join to unleash your creativity and follow the conversation on other's creative journeys. We meet for a circa 2,5 hour session at Mad for Coffee in Cipete for our creative writing challenges. The writing challenge is as follows: 1. Prepare your writing kit (pen and paper, notebook, laptop, phone … take your pick) 2. The theme for each writing challenge session will be different. (For example: “Fools". You can refer to anything you like, from April Fool’s Day to simply feeling silly for doing something.) 3. You have only 45 minutes to 1 h to write anything based on that theme, whether it’s a poem, a flash fiction, a short story, or just a rant. 4. After that time, gather and start sharing what you have just written. (This is, of course, **optional** for those willing to do it.) 5. At the end we will discuss our writing process, and what we liked in other's pieces. We don't want to criticize, but to help and support each others as writers! 6. Just show up and dive into the challenge. Everyone will be working on their stuff, and we won't discuss it during writing. You’ll surprise yourself with what you can do in such a short time. **Be on time.** After the sharing session, you’re welcome to resume your writing mode or simply hang out and chat about writing or anything related. We can also share each other's texts and give feedback, if that's something someone would like to do. We have organised this event before! Jakarta Social Meet Up At Another World VR Arena!
Jakarta Social Meet Up At Another World VR Arena!
**Join us as we explore New Worlds!** Get ready for a fun and exciting social meetup at **Another World**, a virtual reality arena at Kunningan City Mall, Jakarta. This event will be held on **Saturday, 18 April at 7:00 p.m.** We’ll play one or two 30 minute games, depending on the group and how the evening goes. Games can be played with **4 to 8 players at a time**, and there are **several arenas**, so we should have good flexibility on the night. The standard 30-minute session is Rp 149,000 per person, and everyone pays for themselves. The game lineup looks like a mix of **shooters, sci fi adventures, survival games, horror themed experiences, and lighter casual games**. There are fun shooter style games such as **Island Assault, Space Battle, Space Battle 2, and Invasion**. There are also Kernel titles that look more like sci fi survival or horror experiences, plus lighter options such as Fishing, Dance, Miners, and Tavern. So whether you want something action heavy or something more casual, there should be a few good options. Afterwards, we may go somewhere nearby to eat, go to karaoke, or do both, depending on the crowd. This meetup is **open to everyone**. If you are new, coming on your own, or have never tried VR before, you are very welcome. **📢 IMPORTANT: Attendance Reconfirmation Required** To ensure accurate headcounts and reduce no-shows, we're implementing an updated reconfirmation system for all events. **Here's how it works:** * All events start with unlimited RSVPs. * 4 days before each event, a reconfirmation form will be posted in the event comments and shared in the WhatsApp group. * You must reconfirm ASAP by submitting the form. Your spot is guaranteed only after you reconfirm. * The form closes once we reach the target attendance number. * Anyone who hasn’t reconfirmed when the form closes will be removed from the attendee list. * If you can’t attend, change your status to Not Going. **Two‑strike rule: If you don’t reconfirm or change your status to Not Going two times, you will be removed from the group.** Thanks for helping us keep things running smoothly. Let's have the most delicious Neapoletan pizza in Jakarta at **Pizzeria Zapoli in MENTENG**. This is a new outlet from Zapoli and around the corner of MRT Bundaran HI. The pizza is cooked in a typical wood-fire oven for just a few minutes, and the ingredients remain very fresh. **ABOUT THE VENUE** Here's their IG: [https://instagram.com/zapoli](https://instagram.com/zapoli) The menu isn't big; the quality is. On their Instagram I read "no reservation" and "BYOB" (and your own glass with it). We might need to wait a bit to get a seat. The restaurant closes at 10 PM and after dinner we can go together to have a drink in a place nearby (location to be decided together). The place is small, and attendance to this event is limited to 6 persons. If you cannot join, please **update your RSVP at least 24h before the event** as respect to the organiser and people in the waitlist. **No-shows will be kicked out of the group.** Be on time as we want to eat together. This month's prompt concerns the idea of the “warrior philosopher” (seemed appropriate in these times)--that is someone whose understanding of violence, power, and justice is forged through direct experience of war. We are looking at Major General Smedley D. Butler, a highly decorated U.S. Marine raised in a Quaker (pacifist) tradition who later became a prominent critic of American militarism (there is a wonderful biography of Gen. Butler called "Gangsters of Capitalism") Butler's argument in *War Is a Racket* (1935): that many U.S. interventions were driven less by national defense than by corporate and financial interests, with Butler portraying himself as an enforcer for business and Wall Street. We can consider the moral ambiguity of his insider critique—whether complicity strengthens or undermines credibility and also consider some of the concrete reforms he proposed (e.g., “conscript” capital before soldiers, restrict the military to coastal defense, and have only those who fight decide on war). Butler’s life arc clearly changed from pacifist upbringing to warrior to antiwar crusader—and asks whether true understanding of peace requires firsthand knowledge of war, and what that implies about the cost of suffering. So do we need to suffer to understand suffering? Do we have to experience war to appreciate peace? As one more question: in the movie "A Few Good Men" Jack Nicholson's character says that "you have the luxury of not knowing what I know" so do most of us go through life oblivious to real violence and suffering? See you at Drunken Philosophy!
Free in Person Meeting - Get Over Losses and Betrayls
Free in Person Meeting - Get Over Losses and Betrayls
Do you want more motivation and confidence to build Lasting Relationships? This is a free, in-person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Are you burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival, while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This class is held at the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center.

Join us for this free, in person meeting on the subject of betrayals, losses and how to get over them so you can build lasting relationships. Do you want more motivation and confidence to build lasting relationships? We look forward to having you join us! This class is held at the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Sunday funday: let's play dodgeball at Scioto Audubon park
Dodgeball is back again! If you’ve been wanting to come out, this is an easy one to join. We’ll be playing for about 1.5 to 2 hours, you do not need to bring any equipment, and no experience is needed. We use a specific set of rules and equipment to make the games run better and keep them fun for everybody, not just people who already know how to play. If it rains, the event will be canceled.
