The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingū) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history. The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

Whether you're writing a novel, a memoir, poetry, journaling, working on your thesis, or even catching up on emails, all are welcome. We do things a little differently on Monday evenings. The support of our powerful temple, including the traditional Buddhist shrine, has been widely appreciated. Tolle Berlinerinnen und Berliner, als ich schreibe, sitze ich im Wald zwischen Buchen und Eichen auf meinem Campingstuhl und genieße die Ruhe des Sonnenlichts. Suchst du nach Freiheit von dem Lärm der Szene, Lärm der Stadt? Möchtest du Brücken mit interkulturellen, diversen Leuten aufbauen? Dieses Jahr möchte ich unbedingt neue Leute, die Tiefe und Empathie haben kennenlernen. Diesen Leuten meine Zeit geben, und gegenseitige Freundschaften hoffentlich aufbauen. Selbst glaube ich, dass Mädels und Jungs einander nicht verstehen können, wenn der Sinn von einer Person 100% einer Geschlecht ist und die Person keines der Geschlecht gegenüber kennt. Idealerweise sollte der Sinn 50/50 weiblich/männlich sein, dass wir uns gegenseitig ideal verstehen können. Selbst bin ich Künstler, der sich für Farbphysik (Colour Phenomena) interessiert. Zum Beispiel ein roses Kirschbaum in der blauen morgen Stunde. Oder blaue Bäume im Licht eines bedeckten Sommer Tag, auch wenn jeder glaubt, dass man sachlich weiß, ‚Bäumen sind grün!‘ Colour sind, glaube ich, hauptsächlich weibliche Phänomene. Und als Künstler empfand ich seit langem eine Affinität für Colour. Das Bild oben ist ein Kunstwerk von mir. Ich möchte die ruhigen Leuten erreichen, also der Treff ist entweder Online, per Signal Messenger (Link zur Gruppe im Kommentar; nur für Teilnehmer der Veranstaltung sichtbar) um neue Verbindungen leicht zu machen, oder auch sogar besser persönlich, wenn du dich spontan unterwegs sein will und persönlich treffen will. Wenn du mich persönlich triffst setzen wir uns auf eine Wiese, eventuell in der Wuhlheide, oder auf dem Tempelhofer Feld. **Update, date changed to 31.05. (instead of 26.04.)** Do you relate to Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS)? Want to hang out with like-minded people? Not sure but want to find out more? Then come and join us on a visit to Pfaueninsel. We will walk first for about one hour from Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz towards Pfaueninsel. Then we take a short ferry ride to the the island. The ferry ticket (valid for both ways) cost 6 Euro and includes the entry fee of the island. Together we will explore the island and find a place to sit, preferably on the lawn or by the water. It's best to bring something to sit on, like a blanket or yoga mat. We can play some cards, have a picnic, or just talk about your favorite HSP topic. We will leave the island at 6 pm and then head back to S-Bahnhof Wannsee (probably with the bus nr. 218). **When:** Sunday 31 May at 12:30 pm **Exact meeting location:** At the bus stop opposite S-Bahnhof Wannsee. Where we will take the bus nr. 114 at 12:37 towards Heckeshorn. It's also possible to join 12:45 pm at the bus stop "Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz" in case you come from another direction. **About the island:** Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) is a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site in Berlin’s River Havel, renowned for its romantic landscape, free-roaming peacocks, and iconic white fairytale castle. Drawing from her background in political education and community communications, Béla offers insights into remaining agentic during conflicts without making our identities invisible. This session provides a dedicated space for reflection and the exchange of strategies that help us set boundaries while staying connected to ourselves and our communities. **About Radical Empathy** **Radical Empathy – Tools for Togetherness** builds on Radical Empathy – Queer Storytelling for Connection (2025) and further develops the format: from collective storytelling to collective practice. The workshop series strengthens queer solidarity in all its diversity and asks: How can we stay connected, especially when things get tough?
