Canada Day Picnic at Lake Zurich
Are you Canadian or have friends/family that are Canadian? Maybe you lived in Canada or visted and just love the culture and people? Come celebrate Canada's National Day on Saturday July 4th and connect with other Canadians living in Switzerland with a picnic at Lake Zurich.
Let’s meet in front of the China Garden, at the “Chinawiese”. Look out for the big Canadian flag. Feel free to wear your most beloved Canadian attire to show off your Canadian pride. I'll arrive there a little earlier to set up the grill and flags, and no worries if you arrive a little later.
Location:
Blatterwiese (In front of China Garden)
[https://goo.gl/maps/HvnSosBob5aqi2ce8](https://goo.gl/maps/HvnSosBob5aqi2ce8?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHnEV09PhrHQ5owDFIS8fcoIB8tnutOCHnajVrqPiU2ngBVGh5hb4OumJEtDl_aem_hJe0jg4H90S1MYyu94C8cw)
Like every year, I will bring my portable BBQ along for everyone to use, as well as disposable plates and cutlery. There is also a public grill nearby that is a little bigger if you are impatient and there is no room left on the grill. There will be a small table setup where you can place food that you want to share with the group(potluck style with salads, deserts, etc.). Please bring your own meat/drinks as well.
Be prepared for the weather! Other things that may be useful to bring along: picnic blankets, camping chairs, sun block, towels/swim suits for the lake, umbrellas and rain gear.
If the weather forecast looks terrible, the event might be cancelled, so please check this post shortly beforehand on the official event page if the weather looks bad. This is an open event for anyone, there is no attendee limit, so feel free to bring your significant other, family, friends or any other fans of Canada.
You can find the official event page here on Facebook:

P.S. I'll try to set up the grill near the trees on the right side (If you are facing Chinagarten, towards where the Züri WC is, [https://maps.app.goo.gl/WeuQSCKNegsxxzws9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/WeuQSCKNegsxxzws9?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHnEV09PhrHQ5owDFIS8fcoIB8tnutOCHnajVrqPiU2ngBVGh5hb4OumJEtDl_aem_hJe0jg4H90S1MYyu94C8cw) ), keep an eye out for Canada flags and red clothing).
See you then!

INNER RESET · Breathwork & Hypnosis
For the emotions that have been building up. For the stress you've been *managing* instead of releasing.
Inner Reset is a semi-weekly group experience that combines **breathwork & hypnosis** to regulate your nervous system and gently release what's been sitting inside.
Each week has one focus theme. We breathe to open the body, then move into hypnosis to work with the pattern beneath the feeling.
You leave clearer, lighter, and more yourself — calm, grounded, and quietly energised for your Sunday.
**What you'll take away**
* A noticeably calmer, more regulated nervous system
* Release of stored tension, stress or emotion
* More clarity, and a kinder relationship with yourself
* A simple tool (a hand-on-heart anchor) to take home
**Good to know**
* Beginner-friendly — no experience needed. You're guided step by step, and you go only as far as feels right for you.
* You stay fully in control the whole time (hypnosis is just focused, deep relaxation).
**Practical details**
* 🗓 Sunday, 10:45–12:15
* 📍 Yoga-Spirit, Steinwiesstrasse 9a, 8032 Zürich (Bellevue)
* 💛 Intro price CHF 35
* 👕 Wear comfy clothes (barefoot, mats & blankets provided). Bring a water bottle.
**Please note:** These sessions are generally safe. If you are pregnant, or have a serious cardiovascular condition, uncontrolled high blood pressure, epilepsy, recent surgery or an acute psychiatric condition, please check with your doctor and let me know beforehand.

Why We Scroll: A Workshop on Attention, Energy & Habits
**[>Ticket needed<](https://link.social-circle.ch/x0RD)**
Using your phone more intentionally starts with understanding why we reach out for our phones in the first place (*hint: it has nothing to do with your lack of discipline*).
One moment you unlocked your phone to text a friend, and the next time you looked up, an hour has gone by.
This workshop will be led by **Michelle**, a neuroscientist with **a PhD in the study of human emotions**. She's spent years researching why we feel what we feel, and strives to bring science into the room in a way that's warm, accessible, and useful. Join us to understand why you scroll, and what you can actually do about it.
Grounded in neuroscience, this is a hands-on afternoon of self-reflection, group discussions, and practical tools you can use starting immediately.

CBusData - Highlights and Hidden Gems in SQL Server 2025
Highlights and Hidden Gems in SQL Server 2025
With so much emphasis on cloud data platforms and AI these days, SQL people can feel left behind by all the marketing hype. SQL Server 2025 was officially released in November of 2025, though, and contains a ton of improvements that will make our SQL Server deployments a bit faster, better, and more secure. There are even more improvements tucked into the release that never made a marketing blog or press release that you'll likely be learning about for the first time in this session!
Join this session to learn about what makes your high availability a little more available, your performance a bit more performant, and your database more developer and app-friendly. Come spend an hour with SQL people talking SQL Server 2025 – the good, the "not quite ready for prime time", and the hidden awesomeness.

Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on.
That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable.
In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork.
This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it.
We’ll cover:
* Why “it looks good” is not enough
* How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints
* How to compare LLM outputs more systematically
* Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness
* How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results
* Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop
By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
