Warehouse Organizing Work Day
**Join a work party to organize the Velocity Bike Co-op warehouse, usually on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.** Mike Pattisall, Velocity's business manager, will guide volunteers in improving the space where we work. You don't need to be there the whole time. Just come when you can, and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty with bicycle grease. **Help keep the warehouse organized so there's space to work on bikes on volunteer nights!** Please note that volunteers under 18 are required to have a parent or guardian attend the beginning of their first volunteering session in order to sign a waiver for them, and volunteers under 16 are required to have a parent or guardian present with them during all the time they spend volunteering at Velocity.

Join us for an Community Cleanup. Trash goes from our streams into the Potomac River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay and the Oceans. Help us protect our environment and make new friends who care. Gloves and bags will be provided. We'll go to a local restaurant afterward to enjoy dinner together. Thanks and hope to see you there!

We'll be getting food at a Latin Grill food truck near our volunteer site right after we're done. It's super local and under the radar but good. https://maps.app.goo.gl/qSPXrRAaGhJkhUhH6 They've got grilled meats, tacos, fajitas, Latin soft drinks, even fresh pressed sugar cane juice, and more. I haven't tried their Guatemalan loaded sandwich, shuco, yet but will be giving it a shot this time around.

Please join us for our fun and friendly monthly VSDC Vegan Potluck in Arlington VA on Sunday, May 10th. It will start at 6 pm and will go until 10 pm. There is no charge to attend the event. ***\*\*Note: you must provide your 1st and last name plus your contact email to receive the specific location about 2 days before the event. If you do not, then you will not be provided the location and allowed to this event - NO EXCEPTIONS.\*\**** We plan to meet and eat on the rooftop of the host’s apartment building; grills may be available for our use. **Items to bring to the potluck:** \- Vegan potluck dish \(no animal products of any kind\) to share\. We will have open shop hours for anyone to bring their bikes to work on or need help fixing your own bike. We will also have bikes that need to be fixed so you can learn if you like. We will need everyone to sign in when arriving and sign out when leaving so we can keep track of volunteer hours and shop times. Suggested donation of $15 per hour for use of tools and space would be appreciated. Thank you!

Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs. This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context. We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area.
