Let's meet up and sing some great music!!!
Fairly new to singing and wanting to find an outlet for your new skills or long-time singer and choir member looking for a new choir to join? Want a choir that will help coach and support your singing at all levels and increase your knowledge of music technique and sight singing - and make it all fun? Then London Sings! is the group for you. London Sings! is a no audition local community choir which is big in personality and looking to grow. We cater both for experienced singers and those still quite new to singing, with plenty of opportunities for interesting performances. We do ask members to commit to regular attendance as we want to ensure our performances continue to impress and can be enjoyed with confidence by our members. We sing a wide variety of pieces ranging from jazz and musical theatre to classical, and from unison through to four part harmony, while having a lot of fun in the process.
We rehearse every Monday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and from April 2026, we are in a new rehearsal venue; St Vincent's Centre, Talma Road, Brixton, SW2 1AS. We always welcome new members, whatever your level of experience. The ability to read music is very helpful, but we have audio aids available for much of the music we do and if you are not a sight reader, we may ask you to spend a short amount of time with these between rehearsals when we are working towards a performance, to make sure we can all progress towards a performance at a reasonable rate.
You are welcome to try us out for a few sessions at no charge while deciding whether you want to become a member. If you do join us, fees are a very reasonable £15 a month. We are a very sociable bunch, so usually go to the pub after rehearsals for a good chat and we also organise various social events.
Please do not hesitate to contact us on [chair@londonsings.org.uk](mailto:chair@londonsings.org.uk) or by telephone on 07785 905355 More information on who we are can be found on [http://www.londonsings.org.uk/](http://www.londonsings.org.uk/) Looking forward to seeing you...
SOLD OUT • ST PANCRAS • S2E10: CLASS | Thought Experiments in Pubs
Join us for open minded discussions and the opportunity to learn from other people's perspectives and life experiences.
This episode will explore the topic of 'CLASS' by way of three original thought experiments.
This episode's thought experiments are written by TEiP regular, Ben, and will be posted in the comments below on the day of the event.
We'll meet at the beautiful Betjeman Arms in St Pancras Station.
Spaces are limited and tickets sell out fast, so get your ticket early if you want to be there!
**THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS** \- posted in the comments below on the day of the event
**[SUBSTACK](https://experimentsingroupwisdom.substack.com/)** \- read more about this community and other related stuff
**[INSTAGRAM](https://www.instagram.com/thoughtexperimentsinpubs/)** \- see what we look like \(including The People of TEiP project\)
**[WHATSAPP GROUP](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DapwAXpnOHO5DRYThobpe4)** \- stay in the loop
**The idea:** A chance to meet and talk meaningfully about thought provoking topics.
**How we'll do it** (timings approximate):
* 7:00pm - Arrive at The Betjeman Arms. You can access the pub either from the street (entrance to the right of The St Pancras Hotel entrance) or via St Pancras Station (entrance from the upstairs train platforms). We'll be in the private dining room - ask at the bar if you can't find us.
* Organise ourselves into small groups (3-4 people per group)
* Have a look at the **thought experiments** (announced on the day of the event)
* 7:15 - First rotation begins - Talk about the first thought experiment, but feel free to veer off topic.
* 7:35 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the second thought experiment.
* 8:00 - Optional reshuffle: swap groups, move on to the third thought experiment.
* 8:25pm - Wrap up - hear about upcoming events, feedback/requests for future meetups.
* 8:30 Meetup ‘ends’. But feel free to carry on conversations. We have the room until 10pm and usually a lot of us stay until then :-)
**Notes on the general atmosphere**:
* The vibe is to let conversation flow rather than stick strictly to one topic.
* While we'd like to talk about 'meaningful things', we also see the value in lighter topics, so don't worry about not being 'deep' enough!
* Feel free to suggest ideas for future Thought Experiments in Pubs meetup groups, both in terms of structure and topics to discuss.
**Where we'll meet**:
This group will be at The Betjeman Arms. The nearest Tube station is King's Cross St. Pancras. You can access the pub either from the street (entrance to the right of The St Pancras Hotel entrance) or via St Pancras Station (entrance from the upstairs train platforms). We'll be in the private dining room - ask at the bar if you can't find us.
**Who should come**:
Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts in Philosophy, it is about *doing* philosophy. That is, bringing our various life experiences and lenses on the world to group discussions about the human experience, the nature of reality... etc....
I'm so looking forward to meeting & talking with you in this beautiful location :-)
If you would like to further support these meetups, please [subscribe to the newsletter](https://experimentsingroupwisdom.substack.com/) and [follow us on instagram](https://www.instagram.com/thoughtexperimentsinpubs) :-)
Thank you!

Royal Institution "How AI is Reinventing the Battery"
This is a **theatre** and **livestream** talk from the **Royal Institution of Great Britain.** Join the **Faraday Institution**, and a panel of leading scientists and engineers, for a series of talks exploring how AI could lead to a battery revolution.
**ADVANCE BOOKING AND PAYMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS TALK.**
**More details and booking instructions on the RI web site:**
**[https://www.rigb.org/whats-on/how-ai-reinventing-battery](https://www.rigb.org/whats-on/how-ai-reinventing-battery)**
**SUMMARY**
Batteries are the heartbeat of the modern world. But the race to build a device that charges faster, lasts longer, and costs less has traditionally been a slow game of chemical trial and error.
It’s time to change the rules.
Join the **Faraday Institution** for an electrifying evening where artificial intelligence meets electrochemistry. Guided by chair James Le Houx we will journey from:
The atomic scale with Aron Walsh, showing how AI acts as a digital alchemist, simulating billions of crystals to discover new materials before they even exist in the lab;
To the microscale with Sam Cooper, demonstrating how machine learning optimises the manufacturing recipe to bake the perfect internal structure;
To system scale with Mona Faraji Niri, showing how smart algorithms act as a forensic investigator, analysing complex data streams to uncover hidden internal faults and predict battery lifespans with unprecedented accuracy.
Join our panel of experts who will reveal how AI is accelerating the development of batteries of the future.
**This event is in collaboration with the Faraday Institution.**
This is a theatre and livestream event for an adult audience, where the speakers and audience in our Theatre are joined by our audience online.
**The livestream will go live around 6.55pm, and the talk will begin at 7.00pm. If you register but miss the livestream, the video will be available to you via the same link for two weeks after the event date.**
For more information on livestreams, see the information below, or [visit our FAQs page](https://www.rigb.org/whats/faqs-ri-livestreams). Please use the event link you have been provided with.
By booking to attend events at the Royal Institution, you confirm that you have read and accept the Ri's [event terms and conditions](https://www.rigb.org/terms-and-conditions). You also agree to abide by [our code of conduct](https://www.rigb.org/about-us/how-were-run/our-code-conduct-ri-visitors), and help to create a great experience for yourself and your fellow participants.
Conundrum Corner :: London - Your Dilemmas Discussed..
*this event is advertised elsewhere so there will be more people coming than stated*
**✨ Welcome to Conundrum Corner at The Union Jack pub, Southwark! ✨**
Step inside and join a gathering *of* open minds and kind hearts. Whether you bring a conundrum of your own that you are experiencing or simply your listening ear, you’ll find a welcoming space to share, reflect, and explore life’s tricky questions together.
🌿 **What to expect:**
*You’re invited to share a conundrum, dilemma or question that you yourself are experiencing.
- We’ll vote to choose a few intriguing ones to explore more deeply.
*With a few extra details in hand, we’ll break into small groups for thoughtful discussion.
- Then, we’ll come together as one big group to share insights, perspectives, and perhaps even some fresh solutions.
The atmosphere is **analytical yet empathetic, thoughtful yet light-hearted**, and always non-judgmental. Whether your conundrum is personal, professional, or just a head-scratcher, we’re here to help unravel it together.
💸 There’s no set fee to attend, but we do ask for donations on the night to cover costs - which are warmly appreciated!
🍷 Please also support our lovely hosts, Jade and co., by buying yourself a drink at the bar (and food’s available if you fancy a bite).
💡 **What’s a conundrum, you ask?**
A conundrum is any dilemma, crossroads, or confusion in your life—big or small. It could be a **"chicken and egg"** situation, a **"catch-22"**, or a **"have your cake and eat it"** kind of puzzle. Sometimes, life just throws us complex, messy questions—and that’s what we’re here to navigate together.
Once our deep discussions wind down, we’ll slip into **pub mode**—a chance to relax, connect, and continue chatting with newfound friends.
**🛡️ Code of Conduct - *please note***
Conundrum Corner is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all attendees. Any abuse, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour towards other attendees, whether during the event or in any contact related to the event afterwards, will result in permanent removal from the Meetup group and exclusion from future events.
Come along for an evening of intriguing conversations, fresh perspectives, and a touch of serendipity. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Brain Worms 119 / The Inheritors by William Golding
When the spring came the people - what was left of them - moved back by the old paths from the sea. But this year strange things were happening, terrifying things that had never happened before. Inexplicable sounds and smells; new, unimaginable creatures half glimpsed through the leaves. What the people didn't, and perhaps never would, know, was that the day of their people was already over. From the author of *Lord of the Flies*, *The Inheritors* is a startling recreation of the lost world of the Neanderthals, and a frightening vision of the beginning of a new age.
Available from all good libraries and book shops.
You don't have to have read it to join us - but it'll probably help.
We will be meeting in The Ludski Bar in the Rio Cinema.

Who's Going to Save Us From the Energy Use of AI? You Are.
"Climate change: I say the debate is over. We know the science, we see the threat and we know that the time for action is now" - Arnold Schwarzenegger
Forget Skynet. Right now, AI's greatest threat to humanity is its demand for electricity. Anne Currie, co-author of O'Reilly's Building Green Software, will talk about why the energy demand from AI has exceeded anything we've seen before in tech; how that demand can and is being met using efficiency and flexibility by forward thinkers like Google and DeepSeek; and what you can do from your own desk that might have global impact on both the AI and the renewable power revolutions.
Anne will be joining us remotely.
Check out the Green Software Brighton [website](https://greensoftwarebrighton.co.uk/) for links to previous talks.
Arrive from 18:00 for pizza and drinks. Talk will start at 18:30. We always head for a drink and a chat locally afterwards too.

Battle of the personal agents
Join the Columbus AI community for a special event.
**Battle of the Personal Agents** is your chance to see what people are actually building with AI agents and personal automation systems. Whether you’re running OpenClaw, Hermes, or a completely custom solution, bring your agent and show the community how it works.
We’re interested in real-world implementations: the problems your agent solves, how you use it day-to-day, how it’s hosted and managed, how you built it, and why you’ve chosen to keep using it. Live demonstrations are encouraged, so be prepared to show your code, architecture, workflows, and your agent performing real tasks.
This is less about polished presentations and more about sharing practical experience, comparing approaches, and learning from one another. If you’d like to present, please contact Chris Slee (via meetup) before the event so we can allocate enough time for everyone’s demonstrations.
Come ready to show what you’ve built, discover what others are doing, and maybe find a few ideas worth taking home.
Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.

Summer Pickleball League, But Everyone's Single | DateColumbus
Pickleball \| Singles \| 20s\, 30s\, 40s \| Ditch the Apps\. Hit the Courts\. DateColumbus Pickleball League
**8 Weeks of Singles Pickleball - you joining us?!**
Summer is calling, and we've got better plans for you than swiping right.
DateColumbus's Pickleball League is back — 8 weeks of casual open play, rotating partners, new connections, and honestly? A really good time. Whether you've never held a paddle in your life or you've been playing for years, this league was built for you to show up, get moving, and meet people IRL.
**Never played before? You're in the right place.** For the first three weeks, we'll have on-site instructors ready to walk you through the basics in the first 30 minutes — no experience needed, no pressure, just good vibes and a little coaching. Our volunteers are also on-site every Monday to get you settled on the courts, introduce you around, and make sure you leave with at least a few new faces in your contacts.
**How it works:** We run open play — meaning you'll rotate courts AND partners throughout the night. Winners stay for one round before rotating, so there's always someone new to meet, rally with, and maybe grab a drink with after. Maximum mingling. Maximum fun.

* Paddles available every week (or bring your own!)
* Locker room on-site
* Full restaurant + bar at Paddle Taps
* Every Monday, 6:00–8:00 PM for 8 weeks
* Eat, drink, and mingle during and after play

Register at the Columbus AWS meetup: [https://www.meetup.com/columbus-aws-amazon-web-services-meetup/events/313426379/](https://www.meetup.com/columbus-aws-amazon-web-services-meetup/events/313426379/)
Over a billion documents processed. Millions of Veterans impacted. Hundreds of thousands of employee hours saved. Faster decisions. Greater accuracy. More benefits in the hands of our disabled Veterans.
We created Smart Search, the world’s largest consumer of Amazon Textract, right when GenAI began reshaping what’s possible. Since then, we’ve built a suite of AI‑driven solutions that transform this data into real, measurable outcomes—accelerating benefits decisions for our Nation’s Veterans.
Join us for a focused conversation on how an outcome‑driven approach to AI is helping us boost accuracy, streamline workflows, and deliver faster results for those who have served.
This is a follow up to the AWS re:Invent 2023 "Intelligent Document Processing with Gen AI for Public Sector" presentation.
