Neabsco Creek Boardwalk and Rippon Lodge
Spring is on the way! Let's go for a walk on the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk and see if any critters are stirring. Afterwards, we'll visit Rippon Lodge, one of the oldest known homes in Prince William County.
ā¶ **What we'll do:**
* From the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk parking area we'll hike south to the boardwalk entrance and follow the boardwalk to the south end overlook, with a diversion along the way to visit the overlook adjacent to Blackburn Road. From the south end overlook we'll continue south to make a loop on the Julie Metz Wetlands Trail, returning to the south end overlook, where we'll retrace our steps along the boardwalk to the parking area.
* The Neabsco Boardwalk hike is a modified loop of about 3 miles and should take a little over an hour at a moderate pace, with maybe some extra time for photography. The hike route is fairly level throughout and mostly paved or boardwalk; the Julie Metz Wetlands Trail is boardwalk and dirt paths.
* Google map: [https://tinyurl.com/yyn48psn](https://tinyurl.com/yyn48psn)
* After the Neabsco Boardwalk hike, those wishing to visit Rippon Lodge can return to their cars, exit the parking lot, and drive across Blackburn Road along Admiral Black Drive to Rippon Lodge. (Or you can walk up to the lodge and back; an extra half mile.) We'll spend at most an hour touring the grounds. (There is also a house tour available that is not included.)
* Rippon Lodge was built ca. 1747 by Richard Blackburn, an immigrant from Ripon, England. His son, Lt. Col. Thomas Blackburn, enlarged the house in 1800. Judge Wade Ellis expanded Rippon Lodge to its current size during the early 1920s.
* The tour of the grounds is about a mile of garden and forest paths, with seven historical markers. Touring the grounds is free; house tours are on the hour starting at 11:00 am and cost $5 for adults and $3 for active military. See the Rippon Lodge website linked below for details.
ā· **How to get there:** From Interstate 95, take Exit 156 (78 E/Dale Boulevard) toward Rippon Landing. Follow Rippon Boulevard across Richmond Hwy/Route 1. Turn right onto Blackburn Road. Travel 1/4 mile and turn left at Admiral Black Drive to enter the parking area. See [https://goo.gl/maps/sABrB7eKicxuGn1t8](https://goo.gl/maps/sABrB7eKicxuGn1t8)
āø **What to bring:** Water and comfy shoes.
ā¹ **Weather:** The forecast is mostly sunny and a high of 61F. Winds NW at 6-9 mph. No rain in the forecast. Updates: [https://tinyurl.com/y4b6humb](https://tinyurl.com/y4b6humb)
āŗ **Advisory:** As a reminder, this is an adult group, and you are ultimately responsible for your own safety and well-being during events. No one under 18 years of age is allowed at this event, either as members or as guests, to include babies in carriers and/or strollers.

Description from [PWC government website](https://www.pwcva.gov/department/neabsco-creek-boardwalk):
"The Neabsco Creek Boardwalk traverses Neabsco Creek, allowing hikers access to wetlands where the tall grasses and marsh filter pollution from the river and provide a rich habitat for great blue herons, wood ducks, mallards, sparrow and red-winged blackbirds, just to name a few of the winged wildlife known to populate the area. The boardwalk has quickly become a popular spot for wildlife photographers to families out enjoying nature at it's finest.
Neabsco Creek Boardwalk is 10ā wide and 3,300ā long (.625 miles), with a two-level observation deck, a single-level observation deck, and three overlooks. The decks and overlooks provide opportunities for outdoor classroom use. The boardwalk encourages visitors to become invested in preserving this natural treasure.
The walkway is part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, which was established by Congress in 1983 designating an 800-mile trail network stretching from the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania to the Potomac River, winding through Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
The project is designed to showcase Woodbridge's most valuable natural asset -- the Potomac waterfront ā while linking historic landmarks such as Rippon Lodge and Leesylvania Park."
Vinyasa - Therapeutic
This class focuses on incremental movement accompanying rhythmic breathing while offering hands-on assistance to the student.
**Please reserve your spot at www.piesfitnessyoga.com**. The session is offered both InStudio and OnLine. Learn Meditation and Stress Management in MD
Learn to manage stress and achieve self-growth through simple relaxation and Meditation.
Heartfulness Meditation is a simple, modern, methodical approach to meditation. Rather than homing in on your breath or repeating a mantra, you simply focus inward, on your heart, to cultivate inner strength and serenity. Heartfulness meditation is gaining traction in recent years. It focuses on the heart, allowing individuals to connect with themselves on a deeper level, and ultimately achieve peace, relaxation, and clarity. It is a practice that encourages patience, self-compassion, and acceptance, helping cultivate a deeper appreciation for the present moment.
This practice is offered with love and at no cost
Capoeira
Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since itās origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritageā by UNESCO.
No need to have a Capoeira background to join this class, just an open mind to try out a new way to move! Beginners welcome.

Columbus: A Study In Psalms--Psalm 3 and 4
Most people would agree that a great night's sleep is one of the sweetest experiences in life. Crawling into a wonderfully comfortable bed, drifting off to peaceful slumber, and awaking, feeling refreshed, energized, and ready for the day is a gift everyone welcomes. Unfortunately, nights of perfect sleep and restfulness can seem scarce. Particularly, during the truly hard times in life, good sleep can seem an impossibility.
The ancient shepherd-crowned-king, David, knew more than the average person about the challenge of getting a good night's sleep in the midst of being falsely maligned, hunted by enemies, and attacked by those who wanted him dead. He understood the terror of running for his life, and having thousands call for his death. What was his answer? Where could a man on the run find peace? What hope was there for a person in such circumstances?
David's hope and peace were found in the One Who he knew was Perfect Truth, Justice, Mercy, and Grace, the God Who had delivered His people before and Who would do so again, and again, and again. Because of God's provision David twice details that even in the midst of his enemies, he would "lie down and sleep, and wake again."
Psalm 3 and 4 point us to the hope in which those who follow after the Lord can be confident--that from the Lord comes deliverance. Join us at **6:30 pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at True Food Kitchen, Easton Town Center**, and be encouraged from God's Word!
