"Grow your own vegetables" Summer Edition
"Grow your own vegetables" Summer Edition
The summer edition is the second workshop in the "Grow your own Vegetables" workshop series. As always, our "vegetable whisperer" Kim will provide hands-on guidance as we work together. You’ll learn how to properly transplant young plants, determine the ideal spacing, and understand why this is so vital for plant health. We will also cover the differences between greenhouse and outdoor cultivation, which crops are better off being transplanted versus sown directly, and the conditions needed for plants to grow into strong, fruit-bearing specimens. Additionally, we’ll dive into the topic of mulching and demonstrate how this method protects the soil and improves water retention. **When?** Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 Saturday, May 9th, 2026 From 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM each day **Cost?** €55 per person

Saturday Film Club – 29th Edition – Two Films by Claire Denis
A Branch of the **Social Book Club** focusing on International Cinema. I find films based on the taste profile of the cinephiles that regularly attend. We the Lovely Folks of the **Saturday Film Club, are back for the 29th Edition** this Saturday! 🎬🌿🕊️ ☀️ We start at **18:30** hrs. Films chosen for this week are: 🎥 **Either one of these two by Claire Denis — we’ll decide together:** **1\. Chocolat** (1988) A quiet, observant story set in colonial Cameroon. Memory, power, race, and distance — all told with restraint and subtle tension. Slow, reflective, and deeply human. IMDb: 6.8/10 – Runtime: 1h 45m. **OR** **2\. Beau Travail** (1999) A hypnotic, physical film set in the French Foreign Legion. Ritual, masculinity, jealousy, and unspoken desire unfold through movement and silence. Minimal dialogue, maximum atmosphere. IMDb: 7.3/10 – Runtime: 1h 32m. 🍽️ Post Meetup Food at **China Zentrum Stiegengasse!** 😁😁 If you just joined, please fill up this survey so we can better tailor the films we show. [https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9](https://forms.gle/juPwhehSV2NosLee9) **PS -** I can guarantee comfortable seating for 15 people. People in the waitlist can show up as well, because a lot of people sign up but don't show up. The event takes place at the Social Welfare organization called **MUT**. It is an organisation that works on social issues such as Emergency & Homeless Assistance, Food Rescue and Environment Protection. MUT is a non profit organization that provides us with the space to host the event. A small donation towards their cause helps them a lot.
Run+B-fast
Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows, Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us! Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast. Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too. What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :) We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast! Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45. We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier. Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup. Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz

Shut Up & Write!® - Sundays at Café Pierre
Shut Up & Write!® - Sundays at Café Pierre
Come write with us at Cafe Pierre every Sunday at 18:00-20:00! A message from Shut Up & Write: "Shut Up & Write hosts free, in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer—regardless of genre or skill level—has access to the resources, community, and accountability that they need to be successful in their personal writing goals." And what this looks like at our event: We chat and give short introductions to what we are working on at 18:00, then start writing at 18:15. Though we try to start on dot, being late isn't a problem—just find a spot and get to work! We write until 20:00 and then discuss how our writing went. From fiction to non-fiction, academic papers to poetry, applications to work-related writing—anything goes! Nothing is needed except for you to bring whatever is need to get stuff done, i.e. laptop, headphones, pen and paper, and so on. Optional socialising may happen before 18:00 and after 20:00, or you may choose to use this time to get some more done! Please do order something from the café (drink, meal, dessert, etc.) so as to keep us in their good graces!

Mumok visit and discussion
Mumok visit and discussion
Join us for an exhibition visit to **mumok** to experience *Tobias Pils: Shh*—a body of work that sits somewhere between abstract and familiar, where shapes, figures, and fragments blur into each other. Pils’ paintings don’t try to explain themselves. They move between themes like becoming and fading, presence and absence—almost like each image is part of an ongoing process rather than a finished statement. This isn’t about understanding every piece. We’ll walk through the exhibition together, and afterward break into small groups to share what stood out to us—the one painting you kept coming back to, the one that made no sense but stayed with you, or the one you didn’t expect to feel anything about. No pressure to analyze everything. Just bring your perspective. After the exhibition, we’ll head to a nearby café to continue the conversations in a more relaxed setting. Museum ticket is **not included** in this meetup This event is **not affiliated** with the museum Come as you are—curious, confused, or somewhere in between.
