We will get-together at the KereKere cafe - at the community table just inside the cafe entrance. *This is a group for people with intermediate and advanced level French who are able to engage in a conversation en français. It is not suitable for beginners.* The cafe is close to the corner of Wellington Parade and Lansdowne St, East Melbourne in the Fitzroy Gardens. It takes about 5 minutes on Tram 75 from Flinders St Station, or 15 minute walk. Car parking around Fitzroy Gardens on Sundays now is $2 per hour with a 4 hour limit, Some parking is limited to 1 hour even on Sunday. And occasionally, if there is a game at the MCG for example there might not be much parking at all. Price: The event fee is $4.00 - cash necessary! . and please be sure you are a member of MyFrenchLife.org before attending reunion - merci https://www.MyFrenchLife.org. The event fees are transferred to MyFrenchLife contributing to the meetup platform - thank you. À bientôt ! Veronica and Daniel Réunion Hosts MyFrenchLife.org
LET'S VISIT CHOUKETTE!
LET'S VISIT CHOUKETTE!
March is for the letter C. We polled the group for ideas and Choukette won. Choukette is a French cafe in Brunswick that we've not been to. The menu looks quite enticing. So here's a suggested itinerary... **ITINERARY** 11am - Meet at the entrance of Brunswick Town Hall (233 Sydney Road). Visit Counihan Gallery and Brunswick Library (both in the Town Hall building). About Counihan Gallery: https://www.merri-bek.vic.gov.au/exploring-merri-bek/arts-merri-bek/counihan-gallery/ 11.45am-12pm - Walk to Choukette cafe together. 12-12.45pm - Lunch at Choukette. Here's the menu: https://www.choukette.com.au/ 1pm onwards = For dessert, we'll be dropping by Tofu Shoten (6B Saxon St), which one of our members highly recommends for its unique tofu desserts (tofu donuts, anyone?). About Tofu Shoten: https://tofushoten.square.site/menu I'm already weighing my dessert options haha :) **GETTING THERE** The closest train station is Jewell. Trams: 19. 48. 96, 109. **COST** There is an organizer fee of $10 for this outing. You can PayID me at 0403 413 056 (Serena Low) or bring cash on the day.

Maribyrnong River Walk: Birds, Wetlands & Coffee – Footscray to Edgewater
Maribyrnong River Walk: Birds, Wetlands & Coffee – Footscray to Edgewater
Join me for a relaxed nature walk along the Maribyrnong River Trail, exploring the section from the Footscray Community Arts Centre to Edgewater and Burndap Park. We’ll allow time to pause along the way and observe birdlife and enjoy the natural environment, and if you enjoy photography, you’re welcome to bring your camera or phone to capture the flora and fauna we encounter along the river trail. Our route takes us past the Heavenly Queen Taoist Temple, and through Newell's Paddock Wetlands Reserve and past Footscray Park. Newell’s Paddock is a conservation area that has been regenerated over the past 30 years from a polluted industrial site into thriving wetlands, where more than 80 bird species have now been recorded. We may also see the local swan family out exploring with their cygnets. [https://www.newellspaddock.org.au/2016/06/07/birds-of-newells-paddock/](https://www.newellspaddock.org.au/2016/06/07/birds-of-newells-paddock/) When we reach Edgewater Marina, we’ll stop to have something to eat or drink. There are two cafés and an Italian deli nearby. From here we will walk through Burndap Park, a revegetated space that provides an important habitat for waterbirds and other native wildlife. The Superb Fairy-wren, the endangered Growling Grass Frog and Spotted Marsh Frog have found a home here. For anyone interested in identifying birdlife and frogs there are many free apps, including [Frog Census ID](https://www.melbournewater.com.au/learn-about/making-difference/citizen-science-waterwatch/frog-census) app and [Merlin Bird ID](https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/). The Maribyrnong River Trail is flat and well maintained, and this walk is rated easy to moderate. Distance: approximately 7 km Walking time: around 1 hour 45 minutes, with breaks along the way. **Agenda** 2:00 pm – Meet at the Footscray Community Arts Centre (see event photos for a map and meeting point) 2:10 pm – Begin our walk 3:30 pm – Arrive at Edgewater Marina for a break 4:15 pm – Walk through Burndap park 5:15 pm – Arrive back at the Footscray Community Arts Centre **Getting There** If you’re coming by public transport, the Arts Centre is about a 7-minute walk from Footscray Station—head down Bunbury Street and turn left onto Moreland Street. For those driving, there is on-street metered parking as well as a car park at the Arts Centre. **RSVP & Event Notes** Please RSVP by clicking Attend on the event page, and I’ll be in touch with any additional details via direct message. This is a rain or shine event and I add any updates about weather conditions in the Event Comments on the day if needed. *Please note once we meet at 2:00 pm, I will be connecting with guests and unable to respond to direct messages. For anyone running late, I will post a location tracker in the Event Comments so you can find us along the trail.*

Cheers, LeAnn 🥂🎉 Event details: Hobart's favourite purveyors of spirited Italian food team up with their fellows on Little Bourke Street for an Amalfi-inspired Sunday feast. Federica Andrisani, Oskar Rossi and the team from Hobart favourite Fico are getting together with their fellow purveyors of contemporary Italian flavours this Festival to cook a lunch inspired by Federica and Oskar’s recent travels on the Amalfi Coast. “Fico’s creative embrace of Tasmanian produce is deeper, more interesting and tastier than ever, wrote the critics at the Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Guide back in August. “Where (nearly) 10 years might see some adopt cruise mode, owner-chefs Federica Andrisani and Oskar Rossi continue to surprise with both creativity and craft.” With those sentiments in mind, and with the dial pointed towards that most beautiful stretch of the coast of Campania, you can expect lemons, you can expect tomatoes at their peak, you can expect seafood – heck, there might even be pasta – but it’ll all be offered with that same creative spirit that make Fico and Ilaria such celebrated destinations for lovers of good food and wine. On their own, they’re exciting – together they’re incredible. Back it all up with the service that Tipo and Ilaria are known for, and drinks list packed full of good things and you’ve got a day full of sunshine and fun. MFWF- 2026.

Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
Let's try a Friday Night Fish Fry!
We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!
