**Our website**: [Kenjutsu Berlin - Official school of Katori Shinto-ryu in Berlin (katoriberlin.org)](https://katoriberlin.org/)
**Katori ShintĆ-ryĆ«** is one of the oldest Japanese sword fighting traditions (koryĆ«) still practised today and is recognized by the Japanese government as a cultural intangeable asset. The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa ChĆisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingĆ«) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history.
The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battĆ-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryĆtĆ-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bĆ-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sĆ-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects.
**The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihanâs dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: TenshinshĆ-den Katori ShintĆ-ryĆ«. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha.
**Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori ShintĆ-ryĆ« in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ćtake Risuke-shihan and Ćtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.
Workshop: Bindungstypen / Beziehungstypen, Deine Freundschaften & Beziehungen
**đ¶ WertschĂ€tzungsbeitrag: 10-20 Euro (nach eigenen Möglichkeiten)**
.
.
đŹ **Agenda**
Folgendes haben wir vor:
18:15 Uhr - Doors Open & Ankommen
18:30 Uhr - Start des Workshops
* Wir lernen uns kennen
* Eine EinfĂŒhrung zu den Bindungsstilen
* Ein Fragebogen zu Deinem Bindungsstil - in Beziehungen oder Freundschaften. (Dein Ergebnis bleibt anonym, wenn Du willst)
* Fragen & Antworten
* Das Thema vertiefen
* die eigenen Beobachtungen aus den letzten Wochen verarbeiten
* sich mit neuen & alten Bekannten ĂŒber das Thema weiter austauschen.
.
* nĂ€he Hackescher Markt.
.
**đ Das bringst Du mit ...**
* Etwas zu trinken (z.B. deine Wasserflasche, keinen Alkohol!)
* Wenn Du magst: Zettel und Stift.
* Du solltest satt sein und vorher gegessen haben
* Bargeld fĂŒr den WertschĂ€tzungsbeitrag (10-20 Euro)
.

**Registration**: https://gram.ly/4tfKSQY
đ **Enabling Rapid Experimentation: Unifying Analytics and ML Data in Databricks**
Enabling teams to rapidly experiment with new AI models requires breaking down silos between analytical data and ML training datasets. At Superhuman, we consolidated both into Databricks as we scaled from a writing assistant to an agent platform. In this talk, we will:
* Share our journey from our fragmented data systems to a unified platform in Databricks
* Walk through design choices on how we organize Workspaces, Unity Catalog, and data ingestion
* Explain how we apply and manage our privacy policies, governance, and access control
đ **Rebuilding the Engine: Migrating Data Systems While Keeping Products Moving**
During this talk, we'll explore how to migrate core data systems while maintaining product velocity amid organizational and architectural change.
Weâll cover:
* The migration philosophy behind translate vs. transplant, and when each approach makes sense
* Key data validation challenges encountered during system migrations
* How to scope migration efforts realistically under time and delivery pressure
* Architectural trade-offs and lessons learned from high-impact decisions

đ **Agenda:**
**18:00 â Doors Open** Pizza, drinks, and networking
**18:30 â Opening** Short welcome and announcements from the organizers (5 min)
### **18:35 â Talk #1**
**Building Blocks of Modern Code Agents: Reusable Skills and Role-Based Subagents**
**[Alexey Grigorev](https://www.linkedin.com/in/agrigorev) â DataTalk.Club**
A practical map of modern code agent types and the two key building blocks that make them reliable in real-world development workflows.
Code agents appear in many forms today: chat-based assistants, cloud agents running CI-like workflows, and IDE or terminal agents embedded directly into development environments. In this talk, weâll map these main categories, discuss what each is good at, and highlight where they commonly fail.
Weâll then zoom in on two core building blocks used in modern agent tooling:
* **Skills / playbooks** â reusable, step-by-step workflows (e.g. understand the repo â implement a change â run checks â produce a clean diff)
* **Subagents** â specialized roles such as planner, implementer, reviewer, and tester that split complex work into focused, reliable steps
**Format:** 20 min talk + 10 min Q&A
### **19:05 â Talk #2**
**Guardrailed Agents at Scale: Zalandoâs Support Agent for Incident Triage and Stakeholder Q&A**
**[Ivan Potapov](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ivan-sur/)**, **[Saugandh Karan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/saugandh-karan/)**[ ](https://www.linkedin.com/in/saugandh-karan/)â Zalando SE
Weâll share how Zalando built and shipped a specialized internal support agent that helps engineering teams answer stakeholder questions and triage operational alerts â without drowning in context or compromising production safety.
The agent enriches user requests with relevant observability context (metrics, logs, traces, recent deploys), summarizes what matters, and produces a severity assessment with recommended next steps.
A key challenge is context explosion: pulling âall the dataâ quickly becomes noisy, slow, and risky. Weâll walk through the architecture patterns and guardrails that keep the system production-ready:
* Retrieval and ranking strategies
* Strict tool boundaries
* Policy-driven response formats
* Evaluation checks to prevent overconfident or unsafe guidance
Finally, weâll cover rollout and migration: introducing the agent alongside existing workflows, aligning it with architecture guidelines, and iterating based on real incident feedback.
**Format:** 20 min talk + 10 min Q&A
### **19:35 â Pizza, Drinks & Networking**
Invite your friends and join our meetup. Special thanks to our hosts **[Zalando.](https://en.zalando.de/?_rfl=de)**

Park Workout and Martial Arts
Please note: there are no specific Covid protocols in place at present, but please be responsible, take a self-test and don't join if you have any cold symptoms! Thanks
/////////////////////////////////////////
We'll start off the session with a run in Gleisdreieck park that might include scaling some walls, visiting a few sites in the area to explore their opportunities for climbing and balancing, or going up or down stairs in unusual ways. After the outdoors bit, we come back to our gym where we focus on building strength, working as a group, and learning basic martial arts techniques. We are a small, friendly group open to anyone, without any prior knowledge or specific degree of fitness required. Our martial art is Jutaijutsu, a traditional Japanese one focused on self-defence.
Sounds interesting? We'd love for you to drop by and join us. You'll need running shoes and comfortable workout clothes, including a raincoat or the like for the park if the weather is bad. Once indoors, we train barefoot. The first three Meetups are free of charge. If you'd like to join our group beyond that, we would ask you to join our association, https://yanagi.berlin, a martial arts school based in Berlin. Membership there is 30 EUR/month and you will be able to train three times a week.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for February is "Transitions"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

A lot of people get into real estate because they want freedom.
Then they buy a rentalâŠand realize most of the rent goes straight to the bank.
They technically own property, but the mortgage controls the income. And waiting 30 years for properties to be paid off doesnât feel realistic.
This meetup is about understanding a different way to think about rental properties⊠one that focuses on paying them off sooner so the income is actually usable.
**Featured Guest Speaker: John Blackburn**
Weâre excited to welcome John Blackburn as our guest speaker for this event.
John has been actively investing in real estate since 2006 and has:
* Been involved in **5,000+ real estate transactions**
* Helped investors **acquire over $150 million in rental property**
* **Raised more than $100 million** in private capital
John didnât start with family money or shortcuts. He built his portfolio by focusing on clear systems, real numbers, and long-term strategy.
For this meetup, John will walk through how investors shift their focus from simply owning rentals to building properties that eventually pay themâŠwithout a mortgage attached.
**What Youâll Learn**
John will break down, in simple terms:
* Why most rental properties donât produce much usable income early on
* Why buying more rentals isnât always the answer
* How investors structure their properties to pay off mortgages in a fraction of the time
* How properties can work together to eliminate debt faster
* What changes once rentals become free and clear
This approach is often referred to as an accelerated paydown strategy â using rental income intentionally to reduce debt sooner, rather than waiting decades for mortgages to run their course.
John will also share a simple calculator you can use to see how this works with real numbers and realistic scenarios.
**The Core Idea**
When a rental has a mortgage, the rent has one job: **pay the bank.**
When a rental is paid off, the rent has a different job: **pay you.**
Most people only see one timelineâŠ30 years.
This session shows how investors shorten that timeline and gradually increase their income as properties become free and clear.
**Who This Event Is For**
This event is for people who want more than just âowning rentalsâ on paper.
* Rental owners who are tired of most of the rent going to the bank and want a clearer path to real, usable income
* New investors who want to understand how rental properties actually build wealth over time before jumping in
* People with capital who want to invest in real estate with intention and a long-term plan
* Anyone serious about freedom and curious how rental properties transition from debt-heavy assets into income-producing ones
