Language Exchange @ Cafe
Language Exchange @ Cafe
**Language Exchange over a drink. We choose a different venue every week.** This is our last LE before Ramadan in this outdoor cafe but also a Karak tea place. This place might be a bit far from most of us who are used to city centre venues but we only come here once a month or 2. Just come to enjoy some breeze and a getaway after your shopping in Katara!! This is a free event and we welcome local and expats to come for a chat and some good company. Participants are responsible for paying for their orders. As customary to support local business, minimum 1 order is a good practice. It will also be great if you can support this group and the food for strays by giving some money in our donation box!! **Languages👂🏻💋:** English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese (and more, depending on the attendees' languages) **Topics**🗣: Ramadan stories **Location: Chapati & Karak Cafe** in Katara We have certified Chinese and English teachers here who also speak Spanish and Japanese. We are looking for Arabic-speakers or anyone who wishes to practice these languages or just to connect. For our regular members, we move on from our picnic this week to sit down for a Karak tea or coffee after our picnic. Participants will be put in different tables based on number of people and langauge-pairs and swap places from time to time. Please sign up for your attendance. Ps. Look for a blonde Asian girl on arrival if this is your first time.
🎲 Game Night Over Drinks
🎲 Game Night Over Drinks
Join us for a relaxed evening of games, fun, and great company during the week! This is an event open to locals and expats alike-perfect for making new friends while playing card games, chess, and other fun board games. The idea is to play and chill a bit during the week but not to be overwhelmed and still can go back to work for 1 more day before weekend. 📍 **Location:** Adam Coffee Shop ⌚ **Time:** 7:00–9:00 PM 👥 **Vibe:** Chill, social, and lightly competitive (in a fun way!) 🎟 **Entrance Fee:** 10 QAR (cash only) ☕ **Minimum Order:** One drink or food item We’ll rotate between games and tables depending on the number of participants, giving everyone a chance to meet and play with different people. Feel free to bring your own games to share! Just to support the Cafe for their generosity of hosting us, 1 order of drink/food is a good practice. For those who prefer healthier options, the café offers sugar-free drinks and food. **Note:** Due to previous experiences where some attendees did not place any orders and misused shared resources, we have introduced a small entrance fee to help maintain a positive and respectful environment from Feb. The fee will also contribute to supporting the community and providing food for stray cats.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data** Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics. The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth. The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical. (note: we are back at Rev1 this month!) **About Our Speaker** [Alex Moore](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexscottmoore/) is the founder of [Moore Cooperative](https://moorecooperative.com/), where he advises organizations on compensation strategy, pay equity, and people analytics. His work focuses on helping organizations like the Ohio Supreme Court design, analyze, and communicate compensation systems that are data-informed, defensible, and aligned with organizational goals. Alex lives in Granville, Ohio and has three little kiddos. More info at [cbusdaw.com](https://cbusdaw.com)
