1920s Garden Party @ Spadina Museum
In partnership with [The Hamilton Vintage Society,](https://www.facebook.com/groups/hamontvintage) we are taking our fun on the road for the annual Spadina House Museum Garden Party!
There will be live music, dancing and general merriment. Bring a picnic!
It is typically very hot, so take that into account as your build your daytime 1920s outfit. I also recommend bringing a blanket or chairs to sit on.
Your admission gets you into the event, and you can also tour the beautiful Spadina mansion while you're there.
I recommend we coordinate some carpools, as there is not a lot of parking nearby. There is some at nearby Casa Loma for around $20.

Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion ๐ชโจ๐
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
Drum & Soul is a participatory community space that combines drumming, singing, reflection and conversation in one shared experience. Through rhythms from different cultures, collective music making and meaningful discussion around a focused theme, we practise qualities that strengthen both the individual and the community.
This is more than a drumming circle. It is a space where people can grow in expression, presence, listening, and contribution, while learning how these same qualities can be carried into everyday life and relationships.
---
...
**Why come**
Come if you want to grow your expressive capacity, feel more at ease participating with others, and be part of a growing space that celebrates the human in us. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background or musical experience.
If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural. Many people arrive unsure and leave feeling surprisingly at home.
---
...
**How it works**
---
We begin with a short breathing and centring exercise, followed by simple rhythm demonstration and call and response drumming. We then move into smaller group discussion around a shared theme. From there we shift into collective jamming and improvisation, and end with a potluck meal and informal connection.
---
...
**Typical meeting flow**
1. ๐ซฑ๐ฝโ๐ซฒ๐ป Arrival & social time โ 15 min
2. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Welcome, check in and centring โ 15 min
3. ๐ช Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** โ 20 min
4. ๐ฌ Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of five-or so) โ 20 min
5. ๐บ๐ฝ Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments โ 30 min
6. ๐ฆ Potluck **dinner** & social time afterwards โ 60 min
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
---
...
**Logistics & what to bring**
We meet in a large and beautiful space. Drums are available on a first come first served basis. We also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument.
We end the evening with a shared **potluck meal**, an extension of the circle where conversation and connection continue. Since the event is free, we warmly ask everyone to bring a small item to share if they are able. Simple finger foods and easy to serve savoury items are especially helpful, such as fruit, veggies and dip, wraps, sandwiches, hummus and pita, samosas, spring rolls, crackers and cheese, or other meal friendly bites. Sweet items are welcome too, but meal friendly contributions are especially appreciated.
---
...
**Cost & contributions**
---
This is a free event. If you are unable to bring food, you are welcome to make an optional contribution toward refreshments and materials by e-transfer to **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com**
---
...
**Helpful notes**
---
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link at the venue) for quick notices.
---
...
**Life Between Gatherings**
Drum & Soul does not begin and end with the monthly session. For those who want to continue beyond the gatherings and go deeper, we also have:
โข **Advanced sessions** for those who want to go further in drumming technique and explore the discussion themes more deeply in a smaller group
โข **Home or cafรฉ meetups** for simple in-person connection, where a few participants can continue the conversation more personally and naturally
โข **Ongoing contact** so the spirit of the gathering can carry into everyday life through our own reflection, friendship and mutual encouragement
Over time, these smaller spaces help strengthen connection, shared learning, and community life between sessions. Ask us about these features for more detail.
---
...
**Why this matters**
Our world is like a sick body, and is aching for a lasting remedy. We believe our special mission here is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. A meaningful growth unfolds through both selfโdiscovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

**Join the Toronto Brunch Club and make new friends!**
Each meetup brings together 4โ6 people for casual conversations over brunch. We use the Groupvibe platform to facilitate the meetup and ensure everyoneโs a good fit.
๐ **To attend, youโll need to complete registration via this link:**

Weโll share the exact location of the upcoming meetup the night before only if you have bought a ticket or membership plan.
**Why this works:**
\* Smaller groups make real conversations easier.
\* Discover new restaurants in your city, together.
\* Curated brunch venues with good food and vibe.
\* If you hit it off with your group, thereโs plenty of time to hang out afterwards.
**Note:**
RSVPs on Meetup donโt reflect total attendance. Many attendees register directly via our website. The event on [Meetup.com](http://meetup.com/) is only a placeholder.
This meetup is organized by Groupvibe, a small team passionate about helping people form meaningful friendships offline.
Is Yellowstone About to Erupt? (Spoiler Alert: Not Anytime Soon)
Is Yellowstone National Park really on the verge of a massive eruption? Itโs one of the most common questions volcanologists getโand in this session, youโll learn how to answer it yourself. In this talk, weโll break down how volcanoes work, why eruptions happen, and how scientists know when one might be coming. Along the way, weโll tackle common misconceptions and show how monitoring keeps us informed and safe. By the end, youโll leave with the tools to answer this question like a volcanologistโand maybe correct a few myths along the way.
For this meetup Silvia Castilla is returning to the Knowledge Sharing Club to
share her expertise.
Silvia Castilla is a PhD student in the Earth Sciences department at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on volcanology and isotope geochemistry to understand the processes that occur before volcanic eruptions. Her PhD project involves studying rocks from around the world, conducting stable isotope analyses, and applying these techniques to determine how long it takes for a volcano to erupt.

I will post the location as we get closer to the date.

In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation donโt just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance".
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
