A Melbourne institution: Dinner at Florentino
Standing on Bourke Street for close to a century, Florentino has long been part of Melbourneās dining life. It is a new era at Florentino with the team behind Nomad and Reine & La Rue now at the helm.
To quote the website: āLong-time guests will recognise the dining room they know; new guests will encounter a restaurant shaped by memory, but firmly grounded in today.
The new Florentino Dining Room menus draw on the roomās grand, old-world tradition, with thoughtful refinements made for dining now.ā
Sounds good, right?
I booked for 6 Fine Diners to enjoy the Menu Essenza at $200 per person for dinner from 6.30pm on Saturday 30 May. You can view the menu here: https://florentino.melbourne/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Florentino-Dining-Room-Menus-17022026.pdf
ā©Join the waitlist to express interest.
Once I have names in the waitlist, Iāll send you a āMeetup Messageā to confirm you have a spot and how to pay. Youāll need to send me $100 to secure your place (equivalent to the cancellation fee - this will be deducted from your bill when we settle up).
Once paid Iāll move you from the waitlist to going.
Please check that you donāt have your settings blocking messages; if I canāt contact you Iāll have to move on to the next person. Also if you donāt respond to my message within 3 days, Iāll let you know that Iām offering the seat to the next person on the waitlist.
ā©Thanks and Iām looking forward to experiencing this new chapter of Florentino with you!

Judgement of Paris - House Wine
This is the 50th Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris. Significantly, in 1976, California wines unexpectedly outperformed French wines in a blind tasting with nine French judges, challenging the perception that only French wines were of the highest quality. This event helped elevate the status of California wines on the global stage and is considered a pivotal moment in wine history.
House Wine, in Worthington, modestly, recreates that moment in history with a tasting both American and French wines in a fun, casual atmosphere. Come at 6:45, pay your fee at the register and join your friends for this "Judgey" tasting. https://www.wineenthusiast.com/culture/wine/the-judgment-of-paris-turns-40/
Arrive when you can and we'll have a table for gathering. Feel free to bring your own food as it is welcomed at this local gem or order from the newly opened Worthington Inn, or local favorites such as Dewey's, Everest, Jet, Worthington Tavern and The Whitney. Each person pays their tasting fee, typically $15, and gets their wine glass, then approximately five pours of the wines being served.
**Parking is tough**. Try the second lot behind House Wine accessed by the land by the back parking lot or the municipal lot one block north of House Wine.
**Waiver and Liability and Attendance Policy.** Participation by you and your guests means you agree to the Waiver of Liability and Attendance Policies on our Group Page. People who have two more or Attendance policy violations are subject to removal from the group.
Conversacion en espaƱol (en persona)
While some are still meeting online, this is an in person event. Please note that we have attendees of all levels of speaking, including some native speakers. All are welcome!
Also, as we meet at the same time and place each week, many donāt RSVP on the app, so we will likely have more attendees than noted here.
Note: if you are asked to pay and upgrade the Meetup app, this is not necessary. You can ignore this and still attend our meetings.
