Marking the summer solstice
Let's have a swim together at Seapoint to mark the summer solstice.
The weather will be warm, but there may be rain showers.
High tide is at 17.53 so there will be plenty of water at the steps.
I will be at the lifeguards centre at 3pm and I will wait 10 mins and then
go in.
None of us is a lifeguard so everyone swims or dips at their own risk.
Bring a hot drink to warm up, if you like. It's always a good idea.
See you on Sunday

Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood
through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen.
Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have.
We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too.
Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best.
We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you.
Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop).
You are very welcome to our dojo!

Summer solstice ceremony
The evening of 21st of June we gather for a soul-nourishing evening to celebrate the longest day of the year, when the sun is at its peak and the veil between worlds is thin.
This gathering is inspired by the ancient Celtic reverence for the Summer Solstice, known as one of the sacred turning points of the year. For our ancestors, this was a time of celebrating the sun’s life-giving power, the abundance of the earth, and the deep connection between the human spirit and the natural world. In Celtic tradition, the solstice marked a threshold moment when the veil between worlds was thin, making it a powerful time for prayer, healing, divination, and renewal. The use of sacred herbs, fire ceremonies, blessed water, and intuitive practices all echo traditions that have been honoured across Ireland for generations. As we gather together, we reconnect with this ancient wisdom, honouring the land beneath our feet and the cycles of nature that continue to guide us
What can you expect
• Fire Ritual
Release what no longer serves you in a symbolic burning ceremony—let the flames transform and renew.
• San Juan Herbs & Water Blessing
Create a traditional bouquet of healing herbs—lavender, rosemary, St. John’s wort, and more—then immerse them in sacred water. We'll bathe our hands or faces with this blessed infusion to purify energy, invite protection, and align with nature’s healing rhythms.
• Sound Healing & Sound Bath
Drop into deep relaxation as the vibrations of Himalayan bowls and other sacred instruments carry you inward.
• Oracle Cards
Receive intuitive guidance and messages aligned with your solstice intentions.
• Yogi Tea
Sip, connect, and ground in the warmth of community.
No experience needed—just an open heart. All are welcome
This ceremony has a energy exchange of 35 euros, if you wish to attend please email me to soundsouljourney@gmail.com or whatsapp me on 0873260081
These are intimate sessions with a maximum of 6 attendees only 3 spaces left.
Killiney and Flagstaff Hills walk
This coming Sunday (21st June) we're having a walk to Killiney Hill via Flagstaff Hill (also known as Roche's Hill).
**Meeting Location**
Outside Killiney DART Station - There are two exits from the station onto Station Road. We'll meet at the exit which has a disabled parking space and bicycle stands. There's a train that's due to leave Dublin Connolly at 11:28 which should arrive in Killiney at 12:05. It starts in Malahide at 11:02 and stops at all stations so feel free to get on where you want.
**\*\*\* Important, please click on Attend if you wish to join this event \*\*\***
From the meeting point we will walk to Flagstaff Hill with its excellent views over Dublin Bay and the nearest parts of the Dublin Mountains. From there it's a short walk to Killiney Hill with its famous obelisk and pyramid where even better views can be had on a clear day. We will then go past the old signal station and then down to Dalkey village. We'll finish up at Dalkey Station.
If it's dry and warm enough, we'll probably have a picnic at some point along the walk so feel free to bring some food and drink. We will finish in Dalkey so we'll probably also visit a café or pub there.
We hope to see you there!

FAQs
1. Is there a charge for this event? No, this is a free event. Sometimes we have events that involve a visit to a museum or garden with an entrance fee - but this will be clearly marked in the details
2. Is it OK for people on a short visit to Ireland to join this walk? Yes both visitors and residents alike are welcome to join our walks.
3. How easy/difficult is this walk? Most walking groups would classify this as a medium walk, so having a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Some parts of the walk are quite steep with narrow, uneven paths and the total distance is around 7-8km.
4. Why are there only a limited number of places for this event? To ensure the best possible experience for the people attending it is necessary to limit the numbers, especially as the chosen route may not be straightforward.
5. Why is it necessary to book on this event if you wish to attend? This is because there are only a limited number of spaces (see point above) and to ensure the fairest allocation of spaces, we kindly request everyone to book a place. It's OK to change your mind about coming but please change your RSVP in plenty of time for someone else to take the place if they wish to.
PLEASE NOTE: Walking like many outdoor activities carries an element of risk. People who take part in our meet up activities do so at their own risk and are responsible for their own actions and involvement. If you register to join our meet up walks you agree that you wish to take part in the activities knowing these risks.
Please wear boots, shoes or runners that you find comfortable, provide suitable support and have good grip as some of the paths may be uneven or steep. In some places there is gorse next to the path, so trousers or leggings are recommended over shorts or skirts. If you have waterproof trousers then feel free to wear them for extra protection. It is also recommended to bring water to avoid dehydration. Bring warm clothes and a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of inclement weather.

Let’s play… The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World / The Golden Sea
Join us every Sunday and tell a story as a group by playing a beginner-friendly roleplaying game. Every week we have 2-3 different games - you will choose which game you play on the day. All materials provided and rules are explained at the start of each game, you just need to bring your imagination.
🎭 **This week's facilitators:**
* 🏘️ Silvia with *The Ultimate Hidden Truth of the World* \- a story\-focused\, rules\-light mashup of *The Quiet Year* and *FATE*, with a postapocalyptic hopepunk setting inspired by *The Year Without Sunshine* by Naomi Kritzer. The grid has gone dark. The internet is down. The delivery trucks have stopped arriving. But your little community is thriving. Play through four seasons of building something together at the end of the world.
* 🏜️ **Scott** with *[The Golden Sea](https://gshowitt.itch.io/the-golden-sea)*, a one-page sandfaring RPG. Eras ago, this was a city the size of a kingdom that scraped the sky, then the sands came - a dry ocean that washed away all but the tallest towers. You work for THE CROWN, a cartel of merchants and mystics that rule the shifting sands. Expect some sleuthing, some fighting, and plenty of sailing along the dune sea as you work in service of The Crown or the Goddesses beneath the sand.

Powell Gold Star Referral Club Meetup
We meet at lunch each week and each meeting follows a fairly organized agenda. First all participants pass their business cards around. Then each member and guest is invited to give a one-minute overview of their company and what is a perfect referral for the week. We always have a 10 minute presentation from one of the members about their business in more detail. And finally we pass referrals. You're welcome to visit. Nobody is ever put on the spot. Bring plenty of cards!

**TALK ABSTRACT:**
Docker Compose and Kubernetes are two of the most popular tools for running containerized applications. Their feature lists are similar. Architects and senior developers need to know how their different paradigms lead to unexpectedly different experiences in production.
