Multicultural Film Festival Premiere: A Million Stories at ACMI
Multicultural Film Festival Premiere: A Million Stories at ACMI
Join me for the Multicultural Film Festival Premiere 2026 at ACMI. The Multicultural Film Festival is an annual short film festival presented by the Victorian Multicultural Commission. This year’s theme is “A Million Stories,” celebrating the richness that refugees and multicultural communities bring through lived experience, creativity and storytelling. The evening includes a networking function, short film screenings and an awards ceremony. It should be a thoughtful, relaxed and meaningful cultural night for anyone interested in film, multicultural stories, creativity, community and different perspectives. You are very welcome to come solo. We’ll meet outside Time Out Fed Square restaurant first, say hi, then walk over to ACMI together before the festival starts. After the event, we can optionally grab dinner nearby if people are interested. **Who this is for** This is for anyone interested in short films, cultural stories, multicultural Australia, refugee stories, community events, arts, cinema or just trying something different on a Thursday evening. No film knowledge needed — just come with an open mind and a relaxed attitude. **Links** Meetup start point: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/3AC6bejiFLo7xRGd8](https://maps.app.goo.gl/3AC6bejiFLo7xRGd8) Event info: [https://www.multiculturalcommission.vic.gov.au/multicultural-film-festival](https://www.multiculturalcommission.vic.gov.au/multicultural-film-festival) Tickets: [https://events.humanitix.com/multicultural-film-festival-premiere-2026](https://events.humanitix.com/multicultural-film-festival-premiere-2026) Related video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v8RWgWzf4c](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v8RWgWzf4c) **Timeline** * 6:10pm — Meet outside Time Out Fed Square restaurant and say hi * 6:20pm — Head to ACMI together * 6:30pm — Multicultural Film Festival starts * 9:30pm — Meetup ends * Afterwards — Optional dinner nearby if people are interested **Tickets / cost** This is a ticketed event. XYZZY at Planetarium Nights – Immersive Art Film Under the Dome
XYZZY at Planetarium Nights – Immersive Art Film Under the Dome
Planetarium Nights is an adults-only after-hours program at Melbourne Planetarium, with fulldome screenings in a dark, immersive dome setting. For this meetup, we’ll attend the 9:00pm session of XYZZY. Museums Victoria describes it as a psychedelic musical odyssey through a complex fictional world, combining animated hand-drawn compositions, surreal architecture, hallucinogenic patterns, alien deities, and 90s-inspired electronic synthesiser tracks. This will be a relaxed, low-pressure meetup for anyone interested in immersive art, animation, music, astronomy-adjacent experiences, or trying something different on a Friday night. You’re very welcome to come solo. We’ll meet outside first, say hello, then go in together. **Who this is for** This event may suit you if you enjoy: * Immersive visual art * Planetarium / dome screenings * Electronic music and surreal animation * Creative, unusual Friday night events * A relaxed small-group social meetup Please note this is more of an immersive art/music film than a traditional astronomy documentary. **Links** Meetup start point: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZTGs3ECQGCzWLwNd7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZTGs3ECQGCzWLwNd7) Planetarium Nights / Tickets: [https://museumsvictoria.com.au/scienceworks/whats-on/planetarium-nights/](https://museumsvictoria.com.au/scienceworks/whats-on/planetarium-nights/) Trailer: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2khs-phiOhg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2khs-phiOhg) **Timeline** * 8:30pm – Meet outside the Melbourne Planetarium entrance gates * 8:40pm – Head inside together * 9:00pm – XYZZY session starts * 10:00pm – Session ends / meetup ends **Tickets / cost** Please buy your own ticket for the 9:00pm XYZZY session on Friday 19 June. Readings in Applied Theosophy
Readings in Applied Theosophy
Join us every first and third Saturday of the month to learn about Theosophical principles and how we may apply them to our lives. From its inception in 1875, the Theosophical Society encouraged study of the Ageless Wisdom to discover enduring religious Truth and to make Brotherhood a living reality in the world. *“For real Theosophy IS ALTRUISM, and we cannot repeat it too often. It is brotherly love, mutual help, unswerving devotion to Truth.”* HP Blavatsky, Our Cycle and The Next, 1889. *The mission of the Theosophical Society is to serve humanity by cultivating an ever-deepening understanding and realization of the Ageless Wisdom, spiritual Self-transformation and the Unity of all life.* Resolution passed by the General Council of The Theosophical Society in 1924. According to these principles, a theosophic life is not just theoretical, but must also be practical, indeed must be a life of service. Amid the noise and conflict of the modern world, what might be our role, as individuals and as a Theosophical Society? Through a range of books and Theosophical pamphlets, we will look to both exoteric, widespread social principles and to more esoteric, spiritual principles for discussion and guidance.

Esoteric Astrology Book Reading Group
Esoteric Astrology Book Reading Group
Join Theosophist Margaret Harris, PhD, in her continuing series of discussions, digging deeper into Astrology every Friday from 4:00pm - 5:30pm WHO AM I? It is not the fear of God' which is 'the beginning of wisdom' but the knowledge of SELF which is Wisdom Itself .. MAN KNOW THYSELF" (Blavatsky,1901, p.15, Studies in Occultism) KNOW THYSELF In this supportive weekly group, through an Astrological lens and connecting with our own birth maps, we explore books that can help us explore paths towards our spiritual unfoldment. Through a variety of texts, from both Theosophists and Astrologers, we look at the energetic connections we have with the heavens and how they can assist us as we journey from our personality selves to our spiritual selves. Various knowledges from participants are also welcomed and encouraged as we continue to work with the 3rd object of the Theosophical Society: "To investigate unexplained laws of Nature and the powers latent in the human being" The Society is a registered charity and these events are free, but donations are welcome.
Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
Play 3-Sided Soccer at Albert Park - mixed - social - all levels - all fitness
3 Teams. 3 Goals. Hexagonal Pitch. A game of alliance and betrayal in equal measure. We are looking for new players and returning players alike to come play a match. Players of any ability, fitness level or background are welcomed - the game is intended to be fun for a Sunday morning rather than super competitive. If you've never played before, that's okay - the rules are as simple as this: * There's no offside - roam where you will * Defend your goal at all costs * No hands (this is soccer-style football after all) Come down for 9:00am, we make some balanced teams and warm up for the match starting at 9:15. Three thirds are played of 25 minutes each so we're usually done by about 11:00am. All fitness and soccer skill levels more than welcome and encouraged! A note regarding junior players: We very much enjoy and encourage junior players to come along and play however please be aware of the following: * As most attendees are adults, all players must be a minimum of 1.5m tall and 13 years of age. Soccer may have incidental contact when contesting a ball, and we would hate for someone small to be injured as a result of running into someone larger than them. * Any players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian. How to find us - We meet on the astroturf pitch near the Baselball and Hockey clubs in Albert Park. The main location we use is called "Dorothy Coleman Field". If we aren't there then there may be a couple of other locations, [as noted on this dynamic map](https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1JdDwV4AOV5e-xP5d56m16-eu29GlnZQ&usp=sharing) \- generally we will follow in number order\.

Stalker
Stalker
Based on the novel Roadside Picnic, it is NO picnic, but rather one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet sci-fi classic, recounts the expedition of a writer and professor led by a mysterious guide called "The Stalker." to a futuristic wasteland called "The Zone." Dripping with existential dread, it continually presents strange occurrences that will have us debating the meaning of what we've just viewed right through the ending. *Stalker* (1979) can be streamed for free on HBOMax, the Criterion Channel or Kanopy. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime and AppleTV. The Columbus Library has two copies on disc.
