Portrait Drawing Workshop
**Discover the Art of Portraiture: A Journey in 5 Lessons to Bring Faces to Life**
Have you ever wondered how to capture the soul of a person on paper?
Our drawing workshop guides you through the essential principles of seeing, feeling, and rendering the human face — helping you create portraits that are not just accurate, but truly alive.
🌿 Five intensive and creative sessions, in which you will learn:
* To observe the human face with the focused attention of an artist, not the casual glance of a passerby
* To understand the proportions and structures that make up a realistic portrait
* To experiment with light, shadow, and texture to create depth and life
* To express emotions and character through lines and shading
* To develop a personal style that unites technical skill with your own creative voice
This course is for anyone who believes in the power of the human hand to capture what a camera cannot — regardless of experience level.
Price:
**150€** for **5 sessions**
**105€** for **3 sessions**

***Overview about Talks:***
**Talk 1st:**
**Why Seed7 - Introducing a programming language**
A classification of Seed7 and a comparison with other languages.
A list of Seed7 advantages. A hello-world Seed7 example program.
The advantages of Seed7 are discussed in detail:
This includes **compile-time execution**, **integer overflow checks**,
the **absence of pointers and NULL**, the static type system,
ahead of time compilation, types as first-class citizens,
abstract data types, **templates**, **parser as part of the run-time library**,
the Extended Backus-Naur Form, **Seed7 Structured Syntax Definition**,
defining the semantic of a for-loop, how languages evolve and
the **Seed7 test suite**.
**Talk 2nd:**
**Claude Code - How AI Agents Are Changing the Way We Code**
Claude Code is Anthropic's agentic coding CLI that lives in your terminal. it autonomously reads your codebase, edits files, runs tests, and ships PRs — all through natural conversation. I'll give a live demo covering its latest features:
* **Sub-agents**: parallel, specialized AI workers with independent context windows
* **MCP** (Model Context Protocol): connecting Claude to external tools like Firecrawl for live web search/scraping, databases, Slack, and more — right from the terminal
* **Hooks & Skills**: custom automation triggers and reusable slash commands that personalize your workflow
* **Plan mode**: aligning on implementation strategy before the AI writes a single line of code
* **Auto-memory (CLAUDE.md)**: how the agent learns your project conventions and remembers them across sessions
* **Voice mode**: talking to your codebase
Whether you use VS Code, JetBrains, or just a terminal — this is the future of developer tooling. Live demo included.

In this workshop we’ll focus on:
* Storytelling techniques
* Scene work
* Playfulness and connection
* Understanding how comedy works
No experience needed. Just curiosity and willingness to try.
\*\*\*
## Workshop Structure
**First half:**
Warm-up games and storytelling exercises to build energy, trust and spontaneity.
**Second half:**
Scene work. We’ll apply what we explored and create improvised moments together.
It’s interactive. You’ll be on your feet. You’ll participate.

## Break & Sharing
You’re welcome to bring food and drinks to share during the break.
Let’s keep it relaxed and social. Improv works best when we connect not just on stage, but off stage.

About talkin’
talkin' is an event series focusing on personal development and social adventures, hosted by amateurs and non-professionals. Every participant has the chance to lead their own talkin' event!

Sunday Screenings in the Living Room
Weekly screenings from a large archive of many of the most significant, yet seldom seen and rarely accessible cinematic masterpieces in the history of film - from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles.
Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and moderated by the curator.
WARNNG: FilmStory is not just about watching movies! Rather, it's a socially responsible, intellectual engagement, involving an organic approach to group study of film language, philosophy, art, history, politics, and technology. In this sense, the film is always merely the current highlight in an explorative, ongoing group discussion.
**FilmStory** is a members-only series that involves a closely knit community of cinephiles. Events take place every Sunday in a comfortable, private setting with limited capacity. Participation is reserved primarily for regular members, but we're always ready to make new friends!
Non-regular members may request to meet the community and, upon acceptance as a "new joiner," are welcome to participate in one event, according to space availability. New joiners are asked to make a €6 member dues contribution in advance of the requested date. New members receive a message of confirmation and the address of the Living Room in 1080 Vienna upon receipt of their dues contribution.
**FilmStory** is presented and hosted by **[KulturSalon Wien](https://www.meetup.com/kultursalon-wien/)**.

**Description:**
**Come join for a journey of some of the nitty-gritty of improv performance.**
We’ll work on scene work, stage presence, breaking out of our patterns, finding fun in the stillness, and stillness in the craziness of Improv.
This is for improvisers who understand the foundations and concepts of improv and want that extra challenge to perform or refine their performance skills.
**Teacher:** Shawn Fisher
Shawn Fisher is an improviser, performer, and educator. With over 15 years of experience in improv, you can see him with The English Lovers, one of Vienna’s longest-standing improv groups, Two-Buttons Short, and with Rainbow’s Last Wish.
Originally from the US, he has taught classes, workshops and led open improv sessions in Vienna since 2018, fostering community where curiosity leads the way.
Whether directing, MCing, or coaching at venues like Vienna’s Maestro, Shawn thrives on the spontaneity and connection of live performance—especially when leaning into the fantastical.

Shut Up & Write!® - Sundays at Café Pierre
Come write with us at Cafe Pierre every Sunday at 18:00-20:00!
A message from Shut Up & Write: "Shut Up & Write hosts free, in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. Our goal is to ensure that every writer—regardless of genre or skill level—has access to the resources, community, and accountability that they need to be successful in their personal writing goals."
And what this looks like at our event: We chat and give short introductions to what we are working on at 18:00, then start writing at 18:15. Though we try to start on dot, being late isn't a problem—just find a spot and get to work! We write until 20:00 and then discuss how our writing went. From fiction to non-fiction, academic papers to poetry, applications to work-related writing—anything goes! Nothing is needed except for you to bring whatever is need to get stuff done, i.e. laptop, headphones, pen and paper, and so on.
Optional socialising may happen before 18:00 and after 20:00, or you may choose to use this time to get some more done! Please do order something from the café (drink, meal, dessert, etc.) so as to keep us in their good graces!

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations.
If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!).
**HOW IT WORKS**
**Step 1: Bring a topic**
Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event.
**Step 2: Circle up & share**
We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds.
**Step 3: Walk, talk & float**
We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"
**Step 4: Feel more alive**
Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times.
*For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)*
**HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC**
A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.
Recent topics include:
* "What are you passionate about right now?"
* "What makes a good friend?"
* "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?"
* "How do you want to be remembered?"
* "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?"
Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter.
**WHAT TO EXPECT**
This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here.
**FAQ**
* Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk!
* We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space.
* We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space.
* Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know.
* Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic!
**LOGISTICS**
* If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event.
* This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs.
* Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details.
* If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋
**IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...**

* This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).
