**👋 Hello Grafana & Friends!**
This month, we are excited to partner with the **AWS User Group** for a collaborative evening of tech!
We are bringing the worlds of **Observability** and **Cloud** together. You can expect a mix of sessions covering architectural deep dives, cloud best practices, and advanced monitoring techniques.
**🚀 Grafana Feature Session:**
**Topic:**
**Lessons from Simulating AWS T3 CPU Throttling**
**Speaker:**
Goh Chun Lin – Grafana & Friends Community Lead, Singapore
**Synopsis:**
We often use AWS burstable instances (T3/T4g) to save money, but "Unlimited Mode" can mask architectural inefficiencies by converting performance bottlenecks into silent financial debt.
In this session, we go beyond standard metrics to demonstrate **Predictive Engineering**. We will show how to use **Grafana** to visualise invisible infrastructure limits and expose the true cost of performance and how to use **Discrete Event Simulation** to predict architectural breaking points as well.
**🤝 Full Agenda:**
In addition to the Grafana session, we will be joined by speakers invited by the AWS User Group sharing insights on cloud and infrastructure at scale.
**👉 Please check the [Main Registration Page](https://www.meetup.com/aws-sg/events/312539597) for the complete lineup of speakers and topics as they are announced!**
See you there!

*Six Founders Walk Into a Restaurant*
**T**he idea is simple: six women who are building something, sharing a meal together. No name tags, no agenda slides, no awkward "tell us your elevator pitch" moments.
Just dinner.
We'll start with a quick round of intros like who you are, what you're building, and maybe one thing that's been on your mind lately. Could be a win, could be a problem you're chewing on, could be "I have no idea what I'm doing but here I am."
In my experience, when you put founders in a room together, you don't need to manufacture discussion. The good stuff just happens.
**The practical bits**
* $10 to 91454489 reserves your seat
* Food and drinks on your own tab
I started this group because I wanted a space like this for myself. Somewhere to meet other women who understand what it's like to build something from scratch. The late nights, the second-guessing, the small wins that no one else quite gets.
If that sounds like something you need too, grab a seat.
See you!

AI Builders Co-work + The Stage: Shipping Real Products Solo with Claude Code
**Friday is our open co-working day.**
****People come to work on their own projects, take breaks together, and usually stay through the afternoon. It’s quiet, focused, and builder- and founder-led.
You can arrive anytime from 10AM. Most people show up after lunch and settle in before 1.30pm. Bring your laptop. Grab any open seat. Stay as long as you like.
At 1.30pm, we pause work briefly for a shared session called The Stage, then everyone goes back to working.
This is how Fridays here work.
**The Stage @ 1.30PM**
*The Stage is a short, open-format session where builders and founders share something they are actively working on. A workflow, a technical breakdown, a lesson learned, or just a topic keeping him/her up at night.*
*The goal is to spark ideas you can try immediately after, during the same afternoon. After the session ends, most people simply open their laptops again and continue working.*
*After the session, we go back to work.*
[John Ang](https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnangrs/)
*Founder & CEO, HaskyOS*
*Previously Head of AI Engineering, Temus, taking products from discovery to production.*
The usual setup is clear: PM writes the spec, designer makes mocks, engineers build, QA tests. That’s how software used to be shipped.
John has been testing a different approach.
After years moving between AI engineering, technical PM, and engineering leadership, he started building complete products solo using Claude Code and a structured framework he calls System PM SDLC.
What began as a curiosity in bringing personal projects to life has turned into a repeatable way of running active client deployments with a new business model.
In this session John will walk through his framework, show a live demo of how he works, and share what he’s learnt about where AI helps and where it does not.
At the end of the session, he hopes he can provide you with a concrete framework you can try yourself, and a clearer perspective of how small the gap between idea and shipped product can be with the right processes in place.
After the session, we go back to work or hang out to network.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data**
Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics.
The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth.
The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical.
(note: we are back at Rev1 this month!)
**About Our Speaker**
[Alex Moore](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexscottmoore/) is the founder of [Moore Cooperative](https://moorecooperative.com/), where he advises organizations on compensation strategy, pay equity, and people analytics. Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program:
Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there!
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.

Session Abstract
**No Map Required: Geospatial Analytics Directly in Your Data Warehouse**
Think geospatial analysis requires specialized GIS software? Think again. This session introduces you to shapefiles and spatial operations right inside your database—no mapping application required.
We'll demystify shapefiles (what they are, how they work, and where to get them) and show you how nearly every modern database —from DuckDB to Snowflake, supports spatial operations. You'll see practical demos covering spatial joins, distance calculations, and how to determine if two shapes interact with each other.
Whether you're a data engineer optimizing delivery routes, an analyst aggregating metrics by geography, or a BI developer building location-aware dashboards, this session will show you how to unlock powerful spatial capabilities already built into your database stack—no specialized tools required.
\*Please note, that we will be using Microsoft Teams for the online portion of this meeting. You may want to join a few minutes early to ensure you do not have any issues. If you are attending in person, there are large TVs at the office, and you do not need to bring a laptop or use Teams.
