NEW YEAR in Transilvania: Road Trip, Castles and Beers
Are you tired of the usual expensive and boring New Year's Eve parties? Join us for a unique adventure to start 2026! đ
I'm Francesco, a biologist and explorer. I have organized a 7-day trip to Romania (Dec 30 - Jan 6) that combines an authentic Urban NYE with a wild Road Trip into the heart of Transylvania.
đşď¸ THE PLAN
PART 1: The Urban Warm-up (Dec 30 - Jan 1) đ TimiČoara: We will explore the "Little Vienna" of Romania.
No tourist traps: weâll hunt for hidden Jazz Clubs, drink fresh unpasteurized beer at the factory, and explore the communist history.
NYE Night: We celebrate in the main square with the locals and fireworks, then move to a cool pub to welcome the new year.
PART 2: Into the Wild Road Trip (Jan 1 - Jan 5) We pick up our car and head to the mountains! đ
𦬠Wildlife: Weâll track European Bisons in the snow at the HaČeg Reserve.
đ° Gothic Vibes: Visit Corvin Castle (one of the spookiest and most beautiful castles in Europe).
âď¸ Snow & Trekking: Base in Sibiu (Medieval city) + a day of accessible winter hiking in PÄltiniČ.
đ§ The Ice Hotel: Driving the legendary TransfÄgÄrÄČan Road up to the frozen Bâlea Waterfall to see the famous Hotel of Ice.
đ WHO IS THIS FOR? I'm looking for 2-3 chill, open-minded travel buddies (20-40s). If you prefer nature, good conversations, and a snowy adventure over a chaotic disco, you are the perfect fit!
đ° COSTS & LOGISTICS I have already arranged the logistics (Car Rental + Itinerary).
Style: Low-cost but smart (Hostels/Guesthouses).
Budget: We share the costs (Fuel/Food) and there is a fixed fee that covers the Car Rental and Accommodation for the whole week.
đ
DATES: Dec 30th to Jan 6th. đ MEETING POINT: TimiČoara.
đ HOW TO JOIN: This is a small group (max 4 people in the car). Send me a direct message here on Meetup or contact me on IG: pangolin_travel.

**Silvers is a project of dinners hosted by the senior generation.** To give people access to the authentic stories and knowledge of senior people. Based in Copenhagen.
Every Silvers Dinner is hosted by someone who has lived a full life and wants to share what they have learned through time.
Now, they open their homes for a few guests at a time to share a homemade meal and life inspiration.
***
**This next evening takes place at Claireâs home by the lakes in Ăsterbro.**
Claire is a Jamaican artist, teacher, and storyteller who has lived in Denmark for over 30 years. She is part of the senior generation and brings decades of experience. She is one of the most creative minds we have been lucky enough to meet with this project, always thinking of what she can invent or create from scratch.
The evening includes a homemade Jamaican meal, Jamaican coffee (and optionally rum), and desserts like coconut drops and biscuits. Youâll eat together while Claire plays Jamaican music and presents stories from her life in Jamaica.
At some point during the evening, Claire will move on to guide a small creative crafts activity, a chance to work with your hands, continue the conversation, and be guided by Claire's passion and expertise. The atmosphere is informal, curious, and shaped by own Claireâs life experience and perspective.
***
**Price disclaimer:**
The ticket costs 400 DKK. The majority of the price goes directly to the host for food, preparation, materials and hosting. It also supports the development of Silvers as a small, independent project creating new Silvers experiences.
[https://www.thesilvers.dk](https://www.thesilvers.dk) to book ticket.
Join this **SILVERS Dinners** group to get updates about senior wisdom, dinners, and real life experiences.
Tuesday Foodclub
We are a group of people meeting on Tuesdays to socialize around cooking and eating together. Usually around 40-50 people. Many are international students, but also other people join. The foodclub exist independent of Meetup, we invite you because we have room for a few more people.
The food is vegan and made from donated leftover veggies from a local greengrocery.
The place has originally hosted leftwing activist groups, and many of the people joining are also involved in political groups.
If you want to join for chopping and cooking, we will be doing that from 3 to 6 pm. It is possible to join part of the time.
From 6 to 8pm we are serving food. Donation around 30 kroner. If you are helping out some hours, chopping, cooking or cleaning, you can eat for free.
From 8 to 9 - 9:30 pm we are cleaning up the place.
We hope to see you in our lovely foodclub <3
Coffee Talk
Fulfillment. Joy. â Do you know what it is? Do you feel it now?
Many of us are living lives that have âjust sort of happenedâ. We had a dream, a vision (maybe we still do) for what we wanted our lives to look like. Somewhere along the way, life took over and something else ended up happening. We made decisions, took a turn down a path, and now our life isnât what we thought it would be.
Or weâre living someone elseâs life. Maybe itâs what our parentâs wanted for us. What we believe our partner or a potential partner might want. Or maybe itâs what we believe we need to do and have to be happy. I was one of these people. My life checked all the boxes for what I thought I needed in order to be happy. And still, I wasnât.
Join me for a coffee talk on what it means to live a Life By Design. Where your choices are deliberate and based on your authentic, true self. What you have to let go off to achieve this (hint: the notion that vulnerability is a weakness and feelings of fear and guilt) and who you will become in the process.
Shut Up & Write!⢠Copenhagen
Join us for an hour of writing! Weâve discovered that itâs strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itâs true for you at our Copenhagen Shut Up & Write! sessions.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, rĂŠsumĂŠ, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
- 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros.
- Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour.
- After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
It's best to be on time, but BEING LATE IS ALSO OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check in with us after the session. (Weâll be the ones with the small Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafeâs overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

Beer + Concert đş đś (Kollapse/Grava, Eyes, Katla and many more!)
Why not start the year with this great concert and some beers?
We meet at the Shamrocks Inn for a drink or two at 18:30.
At 20.00, we walk over to Pumpehuset and watch this amazing show:

Great bands, great music. But most importantly, concert proceeds go to help Kollapse bandâs singer/guitarist Peter and his family as he is currently fighting cancer.

Board games at The Forge
######## NEW LOCATION #######
We are going to be at The Forge on Bethel Rd this week and until further notice!
The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group!
The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play.
Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes.
We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind. Thank you for your continued commitment to providing a fun and welcoming space to veteran, newbie, and rookie gamers in the Columbus area!
Parking can be challenging. There is a parking lot behind the building that is free and easy to walk from but it's a bit hidden.
Board Games at Easton
Join us at Easton Town Center for a casual evening of board gaming. Play from our library or bring one of your favorites to share. We usually bring along Catan, Ticket to Ride, Cascadia, etc...
We'll be set up at the Donatos Pizza Party Room. It was free for us to reserve, but you may want to buy a drink or go in on a pizza.
Why Easton? Although there aren't any board game stores / cafes here, it's a nice area. More importantly, this event coincides with LifeTime Fitness Parent's Night Out, so our kid will get babysat. If you happen to be a member of Lifetime you too can get free babysitting and play some games.
Columbus Chess Club
This is a time where players of all ages, and skill levels can gather and enjoy a nice Sunday full of Chess!
Pickleball.
