Zero. ‍ #### **What the workshop covers:** The session starts with the essentials: what a DJ actually does, what their role is, and how it all comes together. From there, CZECH STRINGS explains the gear using the decks available at the spot as a live example, applicable to any DJ setup You might encounter in the future. ‍ #### **You will learn the core technical skills needed for Your first transition:** \* Beatmatching — how to align two tracks in tempo \* Cueing — how to prepare the next track for a seamless entry \* Track structure and phrasing — understanding how tracks are built so You know when to mix The teaching happens live from behind the DJ decks. You can follow from Your seat or gather around and watch up close. CZECH STRINGS demonstrates everything on Electronic Music, but can switch to any other genre on request. The techniques taught apply to all rhythmic music. A part of the session is dedicated to hands-on practice. If You'd like to bring Your own music on a USB stick, You're welcome to, but it will only work if the stick is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) / FAT32 and the tracks have been analysed in Rekordbox beforehand. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
