String Players

Season 12 of PlayOn English Pool Leagues at Hurricane Room in Kings Cross will be starting on Wednesday 27th May! Season 12 had 18 players across 3 Divisions (ranging from beginners / casual to top club players). This is an English Pool league (Blackball Rules)... and all abilities are welcome, as long as you know the basic rules. If you are interested in joining, just contact me so I can find out a little more about your playing standard, and we'll take it from there! Its pretty straight forward and chilled :) Matches are races to 9 racks. Points are awarded for Wins, Break & Dish, and Convincing Wins. There will be promotions and relegations for the top and bottom players in each Division, plus trophies for the Division winners. NOTE: By signing up to Season 12, you will need to commit to play once per week for the duration of the league (roughly 6 weeks). Of course if you can't make a week due to unforseen circumstances / holidays etc, then you must be willing to catch up your matches as soon as possible, or you may forfeit the points to your opponent. You can play your match on any day of the week that suits both you and your opponent (**there is no physical meet up on Wednesday 27th May**). The cost to enter is £25 (my fee for organising the leagues). This needs to be paid before you play your first match. Table fees need to be split between both players: **Discounted League Rate - £10 per hour** Sunday to Wednesday ALL DAY... Thursday to Saturday before 6pm (Otherwise... **About Session** **King of the Hill** **4 courts for 4 hours** **£14 per person** Mechanics are as follows: 1. At the beginning of the session, we will randomly designate the King/Queen of the Hill. This will placed on the white board. 2. If the pair wins their game, they remain as King/Queen. If the pair loses, the bands pass to the winning pair and that pair shall now become the reigning King/Queen of the Hill. Each match pairing and score must be written down so we can track the King/Queen of the Hill. 3. The reigning pair must play together until they are defeated or until the end of the session, whichever comes first. If the pair separates, the King/Queen of the Hill will go to a random pair on court that has won their game at that moment. 4. The reigning pair may be challenged by anyone, given a reasonable amount of rest and following the usual "no 360" rules. 5. If one or both of the reigning pair leave before the end of the session, they shall cede the King/Queen of the Hill to their last opponents who are still present. 6. At 45 minutes left in the session, only players that have played at least 2 (or 3 depending size of session) King of the Hill games may challenge the King of the Hill. 7. The pair that is King/Queen of the Hill 10 minutes before the end of the session (5:50PM) will be declared winners of the event. Prize to be announced in the WhatsApp group.

Public speaking workshops can be so boring! so many of them teach a business/political style of speaking which feels inauthentic and insincere. The meetings themselves are often a repetitive format with the same style of speaking week in week out. Do you want something a bit more playful? A bit more fun? A bit more varied? Then you have come to the right place! My philosophy is that, at some point in our lives, we’ve learnt that it isn’t safe to be ourselves in front of others. We don’t learn to be ourselves by learning how to stand, how to move our arms or how to walk on stage, the truth is you can’t learn to be yourself, because you already are yourself. The real question is: why don’t we feel safe enough to express it? The aim of this weekly drop-in class is to liberate you from your own social inhibitions. To get to a point where it makes no difference whether you are speaking to a close friend one on one or speaking to an audience of 20 strangers, imagine how powerful it would feel to get to that position, a position where the audience has no influence over your behaviour and no influence over your nervous system. The class itself will include, warm up games, questions, playful improv style speaking exercises, light hearted debates and much more ! . We’re still working to get more people into these Meetups, but our goal is to give PlayYourCourt members a few social tennis outings each week in addition to your practice sessions and Challenge League matches.
