IMPORTANT UPDATE: The event will take place in the National Theatre Welcome to London 2-player Playtests—a friendly meetup open to everyone interested in playing 2-player or solo games. You don't need to bring a game - we always love to have new playtesters! For designers: Whether your game is for TWO PLAYERS, a SOLO experience, or a larger game you’d like to test with fewer players, this event is for you. Please comment with the game length, whether you need 1 or 2 playtesters, and a brief description. Public speaking workshops can be so boring! so many of them teach a business/political style of speaking which feels inauthentic and insincere. The meetings themselves are often a repetitive format with the same style of speaking week in week out. Do you want something a bit more playful? A bit more fun? A bit more varied? Then you have come to the right place! My philosophy is that, at some point in our lives, we’ve learnt that it isn’t safe to be ourselves in front of others. We don’t learn to be ourselves by learning how to stand, how to move our arms or how to walk on stage, the truth is you can’t learn to be yourself, because you already are yourself. The real question is: why don’t we feel safe enough to express it? The aim of this weekly drop-in class is to liberate you from your own social inhibitions. To get to a point where it makes no difference whether you are speaking to a close friend one on one or speaking to an audience of 20 strangers, imagine how powerful it would feel to get to that position, a position where the audience has no influence over your behaviour and no influence over your nervous system. The class itself will include, warm up games, questions, playful improv style speaking exercises, debates and much more ! . **Note: The cost is increasing for 2025 to cover increased court and shuttle costs** Central Badminton Club is a long-established, sociable group who enjoy badminton at an intermediate level. A reasonable standard of play is expected: guests should be regular players with a few years’ experience – no beginners, please. Join us for two hours of friendly, competitive badminton with like-minded enthusiasts. We use four courts, but even so we need to limit numbers so that everybody gets a fair number of games. We play from 8 to 10pm, with optional drinks and socialising in the pub afterwards. The cost of £12 per two-hour session includes feather shuttles. Please message Committee members if you would like to add on a guest. Break the strings on 2 racquets, or break a racquet during the session and your session is *free*. Take a photo of the broken strings or racquet **DURING** the session, upload, and tag Broken Strings on Instagram to get the fee waiver. Cancellations < 24 hours before the event will be penalized the full fee. Please message organizer via WhatsApp for late cancellations or for potential slots.
