The Cover6 Community Meet & Greet — We're Back In Person 🔒
It's been too long.
Cover6 Community is bringing back in-person meetups — and we're starting where it makes sense: the DC/Crystal City area.
No conference. No panels. No $200 ticket. Just the community showing up, connecting face-to-face, and talking cybersecurity the way we always have.
**What to expect:**
* Pure open networking — no agenda, no presentations, no slides
* Three hours to connect, catch up, and build real relationships
* Genuine conversations with practitioners, newcomers, students, and professionals from across the industry
* Good energy, familiar faces — and plenty of new ones
* The hotel bar is right downstairs if you want a drink
**🅿️ Parking is on us — 50% off in the hotel garage.**
**Who should come:** Anyone in or entering the cybersecurity space in the DMV. It doesn't matter if you've been in the industry for 20 years or you're still studying for your first cert. You belong here. **Bring a friend.** Seriously — the more the merrier. Tag someone who needs to be in this room.
📍 **AC Hotel by Marriott Arlington National Landing** 1999 Richmond Highway, Arlington, VA 22202 *(Metro accessible — Blue/Yellow Line, Crystal City Station)*
📅 **Wednesday, March 25, 2026** 🕕 **6:00 PM – 9:00 PM**
RSVP so we know how many people to expect.
This is the first of what will be a **monthly event — last Thursday of every month starting April 30.** Mark your calendar now.
See you in the room.
— Tyrone & the Cover6 Community team
Pizzeria da Marco (8008 Woodmont Ave.) Conversazione in Italiano
Incontro Italiano a Pizzeria Da Marco per abitanti di Montgomery County e DC per parlare insieme mangiando una pizza. La fermata della Metro é molto vicina, quindi e' molto conveniente per tutta la zona.
Please consider donating to us via the Pledge widget on this page to help us defray the costs of running a Meetup group.
**Note: This event occurs on the fourth Wednesday of every month at Pizzeria da Marco in Bethesda.**
**Note 2: This restaurant charges higher prices for each item when paying by card vs. when paying by cash. They also limit the number of credit cards per table, so it is helpful to have either cash or use of money transfer app.**

Join us for:
- Exclusive AWS Cloud Club Merch

Wednesday Crystal City Run: 50 min
For the Wednesday run, let's meet at 1750 Crystal Dr (Entrance by Morton's Steakhouse) before walking over to the Crystal City Water Park and run on the Mt. Vernon Trail alongside the scenic Potomac River.
LOCATION: Meet at 1750 Crystal Dr (Entrance by Morton's Steakhouse). Link to location on map: http://i.imgur.com/3yN0lwN.jpg
NOTES: Photos taken during the event may end up on Instagram, Meetup, Strava and similar platforms.
Let's meet at 6:50 PM, leaving by 7:00 PM. We will do 50 minutes, so 25 minutes out and 25 minutes back. You're welcome to do more if you'd like. Just before the run we decide whether we'll go NORTH (DC) or SOUTH (Old Town) on the trail. Once we're done, we meet back up at the Crystal City Water Park area. After the run please feel free to hangout and socialize with the group or join us at Highline RxR in Crystal City (National Landing) for a beverage and/or food. https://g.co/kgs/AErMQZ
All paces are welcome! We run by time, not speed so bring a watch to monitor your time and turn around at the halfway time point. If you need to run/walk, that's ok! We average anywhere between 7-13 minute/per mile pace.
First Time? Start out slow to find someone around your pace. The different paces tend to automatically gather, so you won't be alone!
Metro: Crystal City on Blue/Yellow lines, 2 blocks from metro exit.
Parking: There is plenty of free parking inside the garage directly across from the Crystal City Water Park.
Post-Run: A lot of times we have a little social outing after the run. You can bring a change of clothes if you'd like (though most people just go as is). We'll finish up the run, meet back at the Water Park, pick up our wallets and walk to wherever we decided to go for a beverage and/or food. If you have a suggestion for a place to check out, let us know!
Project Night at Prefect (register on Luma)

Join us for an evening of collaborative problem-solving as we work on a variety of civic tech projects together. Project needs vary but often include brainstorming, researching, writing, coding, or analyzing data. Check out [our website](https://www.civictechdc.org/projects) for a list of projects which may make an appearance!
Meet other civic tech enthusiasts. Learn new skills. Contribute to a project to improve a local civic issue. **All are welcome and collaboration is encouraged.** Laptops are recommended but not required.
**Where do I register?**
To better serve our growing community, we’re transitioning our event registrations to Luma!
**We still love Meetup**
Meetup has been an incredible platform for us to build and connect with our community. We’ll continue sharing upcoming events there so that new people can find us, but Luma will be our primary registration platform moving forward.
**Why we're making the switch**
Meetup’s registration system has some limitations, and we need more flexibility to manage sign-ups and engagement.

ServiceNow's Got Talent
Builders, creators, architects, admins, consultants - come one, come all. This one's for you.
We're bringing a little friendly competition to the Columbus ServiceNow community while highlighting the cool things people have built on the platform.
Five presenters will take the stage to showcase something they've built, solved, designed, or imagined on the ServiceNow platform - and a panel of judges (plus YOU, our amazing audience) will score them live.
So basically, America's Got Talent but make it ServiceNow's Got Talent.
Bring a notepad if you'd like 'cause you'll definitely be learning something new.
Each presenter gets 10 minutes max to wow the crowd with:
• A demo
• A real-world business solution
• A bold idea
• A UX transformation
• Or a creative use of the platform
Judging Criteria:
🏆 Business Value
🚀 Innovation
✨ User Experience

From Web Forms to Web Components - Burton Smith
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you.
The building address is 4450 Bridge Park
The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400
**Abstract**
Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively.
This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way.
