Bye bye Berlinale | Movie Nerds Meetup #168
Curious what we do? Check our [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/filmmakersandmovienerds/) â„ïž
Would you like to meet some like-minded filmmakers? Start a project? Or do you need help with a movie you are currently working on? Are you new in the city and you'd like to meet people tinkering with movies?
**Then you should join us!**
We meet every Sunday. Itâs important to us that we get to know each other in person. To create a community of connected people, work, learn and grow together. For film making you need a crew of reliable people with a positive can-do-attitude. This is the place to find them.
Together, we will talk about these topics:
* What you are currently working on
* What you need help with
* What would you like to help with
* What you you would like to learn
This is event is great for:
* filmmakers
* movie nerds
* writers
* camera operators
* editors
* actors
* sound recorders
* composers
* gaffers
* producers
We are limiting the amount of people, so we can have a structured introduction and discussion. After that we get together loosely with some drinks and chats. And then we mostly go for dinner with a couple of us.
**Important information**:
*To sustain and grow this amazing community, we started a member contribution that is due every month. The money we collect is used solely for the purpose of the community. Of course you can come once or twice without contributing to check us out!*

Screenwriting Focus Group | Filmmakers & Movie Nerds
**đŹ Screenwriters' Meetup Invitation đŹ**
This meetup is for anyone passionate about storytellingâwhether youâre a screenwriter, filmmaker, producer, or someone with a great idea looking for the right collaborators. Whether youâre just starting out or deep into your screenplay, this is the perfect space to create, collaborate, and refine your work.
**When You Bring Your Screenplay, Think About Three Key Ingredients:**
1. **Your Main Character** â Who are they? What drives them?
2. **The Central Conflict** â Whatâs at stake? Whatâs standing in their way?
3. **The Theme** â Whatâs the deeper idea that motivates you to tell this story?
If youâre struggling to find a theme, define your character, or establish a strong conflictâdonât worry. Thatâs exactly what this meetup is for. Weâre here to help you uncover the core of your story and give you the tools to develop it further.
Already have an elaborate story? Great! Reflect on these elements:
* **Compelling Characters** â Are they layered, dynamic, and memorable?
* **Inner Conflicts, Interpersonal Tensions, and Global Stakes** â Does your story operate on multiple levels?
* **A Strong, Personal Theme** â Does your theme resonate with you and give your story purpose?
If you can identify these elements, we can dive even deeper and give you focused, constructive feedback to help your screenplay reach its full potential.
Bring your ideas, your drafts, and your passion. Letâs collaborate, challenge each other, and create stories that matter. We canât wait to see you there!
Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better!
It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading.
The usual agenda:
- Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes)
- â Silent reading (~1 hour)
- â Discussion (~30-40 minutes)
- â Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like!
You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you!
No registration needed â the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.

Evening of Meditation - Freedom from the grip of thought
We are inviting you to our next Evening of Meditation on **Sunday, the 22nd of February**. These gatherings are not just about meditating on your own, but a step inward that we take together regarding a particular topic. This time we explore **Freedom from the grip of thought**.
Functional thought is great, it helps us go through life and achieve things. But in so many of us thought can unnecessarily take over, waste our energy and get us stuck in stressful states. What helps us discover freedom from this grip of thought? Letâs explore that.
đWhere: [Yoga Sky](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kBxUvZrqo5yzRNe88?g_st=ipc), Am Tempelhofer Berg 7d, 10965 Berlin
Follow the Yoga Sky signs in the yard, and take the elevator to the top floor.
đ When: Sunday, 22nd of February, 19:00 - 20:30
Please arrive 5-10 min earlier to settle down.
đïž Entry: ⏠5, just to pay for the space (in cash or PayPal)

Productive Sunday Morning - Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all work welcome)
Hey everyone!
Iâm organising a co-working + socialising session for all of us who like to work on something (e.g. our own project, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. đ
To ensure that we have both **socialising** AND **working**, we will be using the so called âPomodoroâ technique:
**50min of deep work** (silent), followed by **10min of break** to socialise. Then repeat! If you get into flow, you're also welcome to skip the breaks.
Itâs an effective way to stay focused - you can read more about it [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique).
Anyone from any background is welcome, whatever project you are working on or whatever is your personal background.
I (the host) speak English and German, so either is fine :-)
ââââââââââââââââââ-
AGENDA:
* **15min Intro**
* Get to know everyone, talk about what you will work on today
* **Pomodoro Session** (3x) - *Each Pomodoro session consists* *of...*
* ...**50min** of uninterrupted âdeep workâ (no talking, no interruptions, no phones)
* ...**10min** of break: share your progress with others, talk about what you are stuck on etc.
* Repeat
* Conclude and celebrate your progress
Share your progress, socialise and get to know others đ
ââââ
We'll be at the Social Hub Berlin (they have a food menu in case you get hungry). The structured part will end at 2:30pm, but you're welcome to stay longer, go for lunch together, or leave earlier. See you there đ©”
**\*\*We'll reserve the long table. Please update your RSVP in advance if you can't attend!\*\***

**â From Lichtenrade S-Bahn Station to Gropiusstadt â**
with ***Harms*** and ***Thomas***
**[Free event with registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/village-outdoor/w08-2026/)**
On our first hike of 2026, we continue along the Berlin Wall Trail on the southern city limits â this time from Lichtenrade to Gropiusstadt. Even at the S-Bahn station, the eye is drawn to the historic industrial building of the Alte MĂ€lzerei , a former malt factory that was recently transformed into an inclusive urban quarter.
From the station, we walk through a residential area to the southern section of the Wall Trail. As in the previous section, the path leads us along the cityâs edge for long stretches through the open countryside in southern Berlin. The former patrol road of the GDR border troops is still partially preserved here; some of the lampposts that once illuminated the border strip are also still standing. Even from a distance, the distinctive silhouette of Gropiusstadt announces the end point of our hike.
